We were in Nakhon Si Thammarat in January and wanted to go to Hua Hin by train. I checked train schedules but all I could see from either NST or Thung Song Junction were trains that would have got us in to Hua Hin in the early hours of the morning (01:00-07:00am). Not a single morning time train departure from the info on the SRT website. In the end we stayed south for a few extra days then flew back to Bangkok.

Look what was found lying about in Sattahip - a rocket launcher!
soi3eddie replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Quick, melt it down! Surely the real story here is that six out of the seven Thais in the picture are not wearing face masks... -
Nothing like tipping off those involved that they are going to get arrested. Plenty of time to destroy evidence, intimidate or pay off any witnesses or do a runner!

Just how many visitors ever go there to see these sculptures and beaches? Locals and Malaysians? Certainly very few western tourists with all the travel warnings against going to that area. I travelled through Panare in 2000, before the troubles really started. I was on a solo bicycle tour and remember that area being pretty much deserted. The sculptures do look quite good so perhaps they might be better enjoyed on Pattaya beach for selfies aplenty.

You'll find that Fibre/Fiber is in just about every street. If you're renting a house than it should be no problem. If you're in a condo then it will be down to the building management and what deal they have got with the infrastructure provider. I would ask the building manager's office at anyplace you are interested in. Often they will have advertising leaflets in the lobby for (in our case in Bangkok, 3BB, True and AIS fibre) who each have installed equipment in the basement and then run the fibre to the room.

Is Starbucks the rightful King of the Coffee Universe?
soi3eddie replied to LaosLover's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Starbucks likes to think they are "king of the coffee universe" but their product is poor IMO. Grossly overpriced too. As others said, it's brand marketing. My go to coffee is self ground beans brewed in a cafetiere (French press) just a dash of milk and no sugar at home. Next is 7-11 AllCafe Americano which is decent and good value. Followed by Amazon or Coffee Club. Last on the list, and only in desperation, is Starbucks! -
For many arriving from wealthy countries for the first time, they might not consider 1,200 Baht expensive for a 1 hour taxi ride from an official airport service. In their home country, a 1 hour taxi ride can easily be $100-$200 USD.

The things these scrappies will do for some Baht. Like those that decided it was a good idea to use an oxy-acetylene torch to cut up an unexploded WW2 bomb in northern Bangkok a few years ago. It wasn't unexploded then! https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/apr/02/second-world-war-bomb-explodes-bangkok https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Bangkok_in_World_War_II

Pattaya Motorcyclist Rear-ends 18-Wheeler in Fatal Accident
soi3eddie replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Another unnecessary tragedy. Probably too fast and not paying attention to the road. No mention of intoxication or helmet use. The truck was very easy to see with lights on a well lit road. Can't see any blame for the truck driver. The wide turn looks like it was required to enter the store's premises. -
I now use the A2 bus for DMK at just 30 Baht. Avoids the taxi driver menace and often long wait times and rejections for Bolt/Grab too.
-
I say name and shame with a mugshot of the driver and his vehicle with licence plate numbers shown. That would act as a deterrent to others (loss of face).

Why even do that, just get down to Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang and select another pristine model before it rots into the ground? Why not a nice big Boeing B747 or an Airbus A380? Very nice planes and plenty of space for generals and cronies! Even better for humanitarian needs too!!! At this time, does the Thai air force really need a "new" plane? An 18 year old airframe still has at least 12 years left of service at least.

Once submitted, a search should show that the entry was registered on the system. There is no approval. I did my own TM30 yesterday after arriving back in Thailand as I will need to visit immigration this month to extend extension of stay. After submission, I logged back in again to TM30 Online, entered the date and it showed my full submission details. Printed it out ready for visit to IO in 2 weeks.

UK to design nuclear-powered submarines for Aukus 'historic' pact
soi3eddie replied to Social Media's topic in World News
My 19yr old son was offered an apprenticeship in the nuclear propulsion arm of the MOD. Unfortunately he could not join it due to his dual UK/Thai citizenship. He's since been doing something else also involved in defence. Proud of him in his work. -

The French are never happy. -
It is a shame that it wasn't started earlier, but a Thai passport could have been obtained while still in the USA before travelling to Thailand. Would appear not enought time now before planned travel. My Thai son got his Thai birth certificate and Thai passport issued from the Thai Consulate in London before he ever travelled to Thailand. No critiscism of the OP but I'm curious as to why so many people who are eligible for citizenships, leave it such a long time to apply. In my mind it's a very important matter to have travel and citizenship documents for all countries a child or adult is entitled to. My son had both British and Thai birth certificates and passports within 2-3 months of birth. Just makes life a lot easier and avoids these kind of issues later.

DPM, Health minister and acting Transport minister. Does that mean he's getting 3 x salaries and 3 x "benefits"? -
Gary Glitter: Paedophile former pop star recalled to prison

Trying to understand your thinking here. For example; if I murdered someone 40 years ago that wouldn't be as bad as murdering someone yesterday? Or does it vary with the type of crime?
