  1. There were many divers including Thais. Only a few made the journey accompanying the sedated boys out. Highly recommend you watch the film. It's on Amazon Prime and other channels.
  2. Thankfully no. FWIW: I was seated in front of Vernon Unsworth on a flight last year. Had a good chat with him. Was surprised that he didn't get more mention in the film. We didn't talk about his case against that <deleted> Musk who got away with defamation on a technicality.
  3. Friend of mine shipped over household and personal items when he and his Thai wife retired here in 2018. With all their experience and her hard work they said it was more hassle and cost than it was worth and wouldn't have done it if they had known the final cost and difficulty. For your situation, I would pack up the music gear really well and suffer the excess baggage charges and bring it with you when you travel. Be prepared to justify and negotiate with customs on arrival if you get stopped. At least this way it would be done with no waiting or visits to ports etc.
  4. I flew TG911 two days ago and yes, the seat plan on Thai Airways' website was different to Seat Guru. It seems that Seat Guru have some out of date info. The plane I was on was one of the three new B777s (HS-TTC) that has a first class cabin. Unusually there is separate cabin of just two rows of economy seats. That would be the place to sit however they charge extra £80+ to sit there (they offered it to someone and they moved there). Thai are also selling bulkhead seats for same. I was in standard seat 36H which was perfectly fine. These new planes not much different in economy or business from the old 777s however the IFE was newer but seriously lacked choice of films. Looking back on Flight Radar24 Thai have been exclusively running HS-TTA, HS-TTB and HS-TTC as TG910/TG911 on the BKK/LHR/BKK route since May this year. The food on board in economy has taken a dive though sice April (Sweet and Sour chicken and rice). Breakfast was better but seems Thai has changed caterers out of LHR. No more Thai Signature dishes (or whatever they called it).
  5. You forgot to mention the added disinfectant ????
  6. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Prawit supposedly as interim PM and Anutin certainly waiting in the wings to take control. This could be truly as bad as a Thai soap opera!
  7. It's not about just money other than "sufficient funds for the visit". Most importantly is the evidence that the visitor will depart the UK at the end of their visit. I have had 3 girlfriends who got visas to come to visit me in the UK and none of them had any real money. Was able to satisfy the UK Visas people that they would return to Thailand such as a job, family or business.
  8. And still they cling on to Covid-19 as a reason to extend the emergency decree endlessly. If they can, they will ensure it never ends. For what reason? Control of the protesting populace or genuine health effects of Covid?
  9. Can't do better than a sub 40kg spinner! As for the door open/adjacent room, I always told my wife (since ex) when we travelled to be sure of not getting a room adjacent to her family. Was never a problem I'll credit that much at least.
  10. Many on here have experienced jealous crazy Thai ladies but this just highlights another type of craziness. Must be a gay thing or a nationality issue? A Thai lady would probably have concluded the situation with no comeback. How long before the perpetrator gets caught? If he was a well connected Thai, a clandestine border hop and flight to freedom would have already occured. Lets see how soon he is snared by the Boys in Brown through a "tip off". Or maybe the buffoon will check into a hotel using his passport and be located by TM30. Bet the immigration police are all over this one looking for glory and a photo opportunity.
  11. Not a "myth" going by the posts of others above who have encountered same issue. Booking a "taxi" on Bolt is no guarantee that it will have working rear seat belts either.
  12. Christmas just came early for the Boys In Brown! 2,000 Baht a time multiplied by up to 5 passengers per car is a great pay day. Seriously though, this law is 30-40 years after most western countries inposed this life saving rule. The only time I have ever seen children in child safety seats in Thailand are those of farangs. What about the thousands of taxis that have unuseable rear seat belts?
  13. Not sure where you found that price. In June, I had a full mouth teeth exam, xrays, pictures, report and a difficult extraction (my first) done expertly with no pain. This at a highly rated implant specialist in Amersham, Buckinghamshire www.dentalandimplant.co.uk Total cost was £190 which, whilst more than in Thailand, I really thought good value for level of private care (Not NHS). The cost of the implant estimated to be £2,000 to £3,000 and I go back next week for that consulation. Maybe I'll leave it though and get the implant done in Bangkok over the winter.
  14. At end of June I booked EVA Premium BKK/LHR/BKK for 12/12 and 16/01/2023 and reckon I got a fair deal at 53,200 Baht (£1,278GBP). Looked at Thai but their economy prices were only a little less (with no flexibility or mileage). Not sure why you would leave heating on in an unoccupied property - turn all off (including water to avoid burst pipes) and save a fortune - UK energy prices are going up massively again in October and then up again in January.
  15. So compensation for the dead and injured makes everything alright? <deleted> it needs more action than that. Never proper justice.
  16. How about Japanese airliners too? Not exactly best friends with the Chinese. Right now this All Nippon Airways #ANA808 from Bangkok went right over Taiwan. Where's the story?
  17. Why would a Thai Airliner be a target of a Chinese missile? (which is what you are insinuating).
  18. Do you really think that the Chinese will shoot down a Thai Airliner? Are Eva Air flights still flying?
  19. Terminolgy of "sedan" aside dating back to about 1760 in England (and yanks in modern day, we know it's you driving on the wrong side of the road again ????), that is one hell of a smash at 03:00am on the darkside. Something else at play. One awful impact and hope all those involved are OK.
  20. Just booked 4 x Thai Airways Economy roundtrip tickets LHR-BKK-LHR for my family (mother, sister and 2 nieces) during UK half term holidays for 21st and 31st October 2022. £3,748 total. Best option available from what I could see. Fastest travel times with no stops. Probably 40% more than pre-pandemic but this is now. Don't want to pay? then stay at home and be miserable! Life goes on.
  21. Simply tragic. Thoughts with family of deceased and the survivors. Hope standards and regulations will improve to stop this from happening again.
  22. Can't go wrong with Pirelli Angels for the Aerox (or other scooters). Grab and FoodPanda riders rely upon them.
  23. Don't beleive you. There aren't any such places!
  24. You stated "Europe" but did not state whether in European Union or not. Nevertheless, it's unlikely that anywhere in Europe would decline to treat a life threatening episode. True, they may rightly try to chase you for payment afterwards. Best bet is to come to the UK (still in Europe but not EU) where the (Inter)National Health Service gives totally FREE treatment to all comers with zero checks and no jeopardy of having to pay anyway. Just as it should be. No?
