  1. Not just something that farangs do here in Thailand. Just go to a Wetherspoons Pub in the UK at breakfast time (even earlier than 09:00am).
  2. That's extremely harsh. One wonders if there's some background story with this pub. The 19 year old could have been just a few days under 20yrs. Do Thai bars serving Thai patrons ever check ages? I've been asked for ID entering a club in Bangkok just once but that could not have been to check my age. Maybe they have an upper limit ????
  3. TM8 form from: https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/15คำขออนุญาตเพื่อกลับเข้ามาในราชอาณาจักรอีก-ตม.8.pdf
  4. I can't answer your main question but can tell you about getting a re-entry permit at BKK (Swampy). I have always found it much easier and faster to get the re-entry permit at the airport than at Chaeng Wattana Immigration. I print the form in advance, complete it and stick on the photo at home. As entering the immigration area head direct to the re-entry permit processing office (no need to stop at the desk where they do the form for you). Never waited more than 5 minutes - even before covid times. Got a multi re-entry there in September, again no more than 5 minutes. They even once transferred a multi re-entry permit to my new passport. They then let you into the immigration desk area to get stamped out. A couple of notes: If you are using the fast track in the main hall then they will escort you to the re-entry permit office. If you are using the Thai airways fast track then you might need to ask an immigration officer to escort you there.
  5. 13th, 14th (& 15th) will be biggest days of partying. One day is enough IMO.
  6. You should read your own words, you write advising every one and then say you leave your passport in the safe? Have you any idea how much a passport is worth on the black market? Perhaps you might read what I wrote again? "Never, ever leave cash..." Petty thieves will remove cash but they know that stealing a passport elevates the crime as a police report and investigation will be needed. The most common theft is the removal of a few notes (Thai or foreign) from a stack of notes left in a safe. Less likely to be noticed by the owner and, if reported to hotel or authorities, almost impossible to prove.
  7. Well, the Thai police could give the British police forces training to improve their dismal arrest rates for burglary! ????
  8. Was expecting to read on that the maids were "from a neighbouring country" but no, it seems they are Thai. A few words of warning; never, ever, leave cash in a hotel room safety box. Not only do most hotel staff have access to the room, many also know the admin/overide codes to open the room safe box. Recently checked into a hotel and the safety box was already locked. Told the front desk and staff member came and opened the box using number from memory. I only ever leave laptop and passport in a box. Still a risk but less so than losing notes of cash.
  9. Great suggestion. I have a UK VPN.
  10. Yes, she could do but Yanks call it it soccer so they are confused.
  11. For me, as little as possible! And still do. Not many so called "professionals" voted yet 555
  12. Tragic. Cowardly and criminal behaviour by the Yaris driver. Locate them and charge with death by dangerous driving (must have been to cause so much damage). If found guilty, jail for life the only correct sentence.
  13. Simple fix to avoid confusion and overcharging Ms. deputy mayor. Just place some signs at entrances to the beach with prices for the beach chairs.
  14. I suspect that they also add the 10% service charge first and then charge VAT at 7% on that too (so more like 17.7% extra). A lot of hidden fees and charges. Rarely presented clearly when booking on certain platforms.
  15. My experience on getting the yellow book here in Phaya Thai, Bangkok was slow. I got the impression that they really just couldn't be bothered. Yes, they knew what to do as they showed me documents from others who had the yellow book. It took 3 visits over nearly 3 months in 2019 to satisfy all their requirements. Most bizarre was a complete immigration record of all my entries and exits from the country (they even gave me a copy of someone elses to prove it was possible). Quite what that shows beats me as what if it was my first ever entry? I had a Non-O visa and retirement extension already. Good luck to the OP and hope your efforts are fruitful. I'd say without a Thai GF helping, they would have just blanked me. These officials don't deserve their positions IMO. I did ask GF if some extra fee for them would help but the answer was no.
  16. Not the case if in a city such as Bangkok. I took my condo Juristic Person manager and GF as witnesses. There is no village head here.
  17. Not good. I looked this morning for LHR-BKK-LHR with THAI in economy for October 2023 and the cheapest was £960. Normally, booking one year ahead gets a good deal. Those days are over! Even if BA resume the route, I suspect prices will not come down. Hope I'm wrong.
  18. Now it's definitely "one of a kind". The occupants were lucky to survive. How long before it's repaired and back on the road anyone?
  19. No problem here. I'm on Lloyds personal and business banking everyday. Using Chrome on legit Win10 (all always updated). No security issues. I just ran a SSL Server (security) test of Lloyds Online through SSLlabs and the results are here. Came back with A+ result.
  20. Can't help you with the correct addressing as don't know the names in that area very well. What would advise is to use DHL or similar and clearly have your Thai phone number added. As important documents, then do not use regular or priority mail. A proper courier service will call you if any issues locating (rather than returning or binning the item).
  21. Where was it said that Wise card is good for ATM usage? Wise's terms clearly set out costs involved in using their card. ATM in Thailand would have stated ATM fee before proceeding with transaction.
  22. Here we go again, undoubtedly on the benefits on having a yellow book with many comments to follow. In your case, I would suggest that unless you have a similarly determined Thai fighting for you, then there is little to no chance of you ever getting your local amphur office to issue a yellow book. No matter who you complain to.
  23. Where is the location map for the airborne charging stations for all these electric planes?
  24. 1) You are likely comparing buy vs sell rates so it will be quite different 2) Many place outside of Thailand charge a commission in addition to the exchange rate 3) The places in the terminals are often more convenient for those who only want a small amount of currency but don't want the hassle of searching out the best rate 4) The overheads (rent and fees) charged by the landlord - the airport - are likely very high. In addition, the airport may impose rules such as they have to remain open 24/7 even when few customers.
  25. Agreed. However at BKK the booths down by the City Line train station are not actually in the airport terminal and usually give same rates as their city locations.
