Does Dating online in SE Asia really work?
soi3eddie replied to ASEAN NOW News's topic in Singapore General Chat
I was newly single in 2015 and went on to Thai Friendly. It was very friendly and found a very nice and genuine lady. Had a good relationship for a few years until things soured. Now I hear that there is a lot of P4P on TF but have not been on it recently. Badoo app not bad either for a bit of fun. There are many ways to meet new friends, partners and lovers these days. -
Rather defeats the previous statements regarding the cessation of services at Hua Lamphong and relocation to Bang Sue. I like Hua Lamphong and think that services should still commence and terminate there. Bang Sue is a good option with better (future) connectivity but HL is more city centre. There is a surprising amount of commuter traffic and it's not just long distance travel.

Thailand may cancel Test & Go due to Omicron: Anutin

Most hotel WiFi is hopeless everywhere (with a few exceptions). Always make sure that you have a back-up connection. -
Thailand may cancel Test & Go due to Omicron: Anutin
soi3eddie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What you propose will never work for the Thai authorities. Your suggestion is far too sensible. I'm booked to arrive 19th January and already have Thai pass. Another 6 days would work for me. Any longer then I would likely cancel or try to do sandbox (if available). -
So I'm staying as a tourist at the Shangri-La or Oriental hotel in Bangkok as a first time "quality" tourist and decide to stay another 30 days because I like the country so much. I have to go all the way to immigration in person to extend my stay and they tell me "need TM30 sir, no have, cannot". I say "OK and will leave in that case". So much for Thailand wanting quality tourists to come.
-
If staying as tourist and at a hotel then how would one even know what the hell a TM30 is? It's the hotel's responsibility to file. Even if at a rented condo (airbnb) then a tourist could not be expected to know. As a long term stayer on anything other than a tourist visa/extension then the situation is different IMO.

It can happen so easy !... Stay safe out there !

Shocking. I hope the child was OK. By wearing seat belts and using child safety seats, they would have remained safer in the vehicle. -
As you've already got a Wise account why not get the Wise debit card and benefit from the best rates too? I use Wise to pay online (and in person) in Thailand and they have never blocked a single transaction. They often send a notification to the Wise app on my phone asking if I approve the transaction. Ordinary UK banks and building societies are dinosaurs in this global world. I know they need to protect from fraud but 2FA is easy and works well.

Some hotels now charging extra guest fee

Maybe you can share your establishment's name so that TVF members know where to go for family friendly accommodations. -
Some hotels now charging extra guest fee

Same here. Always book a room for 2 people. If the ask, say girfriend/wife coming later. Never had a problem or extra charge. -
Screws found in 2 of my tyres. Should I replace all 4?
soi3eddie replied to davidst01's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
BS. You could have 4 different branded tyres and so long as all were in good order, rotation correct and had sufficient tread then no problem. I try to go with matching pairs on each axle. Sidewall repairs should not be done due to flexing.- 102 replies

Central platform to simplify entry preparations for tourists unveiled
soi3eddie replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
<deleted> me! and many thought the UK was bad enough with scaremongering and control. Glad I'm not a Canadian although I've met and know many lovely Canadians and they have great country. As per many countries they have a rotten government hell bent on destroying freedoms. -
Before the pandemic struck I had long since given up on even trying to engage other farangs in conversation as they were almost always dysfunctional with poor social skills or other issues. Once the lockdown hit and many fled the country, it seems to have left a better type of foreigner i.e. only those truly committed to Thailand and those with knowledge of how things work. From March 2020 to April 2021 I met many decent foreign gents of which some became good friends. Now it seems that things are reverting backwards as it becomes easier for short term visitors to enter the country.

Any MGTOW "red pill" bros in here?
soi3eddie replied to ILOVEBKKLONGTIME's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Until I saw Richard Cooper's YouTube channel a few years ago I had never heard of MGTOW or Red Pill. After watching a few of his films where he analyses contributors letters and their relationship situations, suddenly, it started to make some sense. At age 50 after having Western and Thai GFs, a 14 year marriage and a divorce I now know that what men and women want is very different. Now enjoying my freedom but at the same time the company and friendships with several ladies. Whilst not being under control of a lady I've made many new normal friends too. Have I gone MGTOW or Red Pilled? Maybe but I have certainly got a better understanding of relationships and expectations. -
Does anyone admit in real life to being a Thai Visa Forum member?

Second time I've done Thai Pass last night. Now keep a folder on PC desktop for the documents ready to upload. It is still a pain that files must be images (JPG/PNG etc.) rather than PDF. I convert the PDF to JPG in GIMP editor and save. Also cut out the QR codes from vaccine certificate and save those separately too. I submitted all and received immediate acknowledgement to my Gmail (they add a note about possible problems if using Hotmail/Outlook addresses). The Thai Pass with QR code was issued in less than 4 hours for my next trip on 18th January. All in all, I'd say one has to be determined and organised and still can't see many 2 week tourists going though this nonsense.

You cannot do self test. It must be done at a proper clinic who will supply test results in the format needed. This needs to be shown on check-in or you won't be allowed to board the plane.
-
That is not neccessarily correct as it depends where you are going. I flew last Friday from BKK to LHR with Thai Airways. The UK government requires either LFD/ATK or PCR test. I used LFD/ATK which is cheaper and there was no problem. Must be done in the 2 days before travel. Info here.

Hammerman, we are planning a group of 6+ motorcycles roundtrip in February 2022. Wishing you upward success and increased frequency of your service. Maybe you can get your press office to blitz the press (TV and Newspapers), Facebook, Insta, YouTube with accurate and informative info on a regular basis?

Very soon there will be "road safety campaigns" on TV and in print media about heightened police enforcement of traffic laws over the "seven deadly days" of the upcoming New Year holidays. The reality is that the figures on these days are not much different from EVERY day on Thailand's roads. There really ought to be accurate figures about total deaths and injuries and not just those at the roadsides!
