  1. It would seem that he can apply locally, but with more stringent checks https://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/en/page/nationalities-with-additional-requirements-and-con?menu=63bcd98646f2ee321b0dcb63 The 7 day "denied extension" was correct for his nationality too
  2. Do you have a link to these reports?
  3. Being a sovereign nation has NOTHING to do with multi-culturalism. (let's not forget that the UK and USA are also sovereign nations).
  4. " evidence of receiving interest from funds deposit," so you can use the interest from savings Also my point was that you did not mention earnings from work in Thailand
  5. Blame that on the Thai authorities who wanted the income verified by the embassy, something they obviously could not do. That makes perfect sense, there is a big difference between someone who was murdered and someone who died of old age in a hospital.
  6. Just to clarify, if using Jomtien Immigration, they require 2 months seasoning for the initial Non-O
  7. How has the British embassy made the life of expats in Thailand "difficult" ? Again, how have they done this ?
  8. Whatever! OP also be aware that your first extension will have to be for same reason as the issuance of the visa
  9. "An embassy is the base for a country's diplomatic mission abroad – meaning all of the political, cultural and social relationships between the states. " True the consular section is there to help out people if possible in an emergency, sorry, but running out of pages in your passport is not an emergency.
  10. The OP does want to renew his passport because it EXPIRES before his extension (supposedly)
  11. the British embassy does not "handle these things", and that is not what "they are there for!"
  12. That would all depend on the reason for issuance of the visa (business/marriage/retirement)
  13. Because that is only for emergency travel, not to stay in the country Also, the British Embassy has nothing to do with new passport applications, that is all done via VFS
  14. Couple of things, 2005 was a long time ago Second, they will never ask for tax payments from tourist visa holders
  15. Do you have a link to where it says that for marriage extensions ? Because that is not what it says here; https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?p=14714
  16. You are still missing the point that we are saying that he can't have an extension beyond his passport's expiry date - the OP really needs to check
  17. Grandfathering did not require any amount of previous extensions, all that mattered was your age and extension status on 21 October 1998 (both age and financials changed that day)
  18. I did not say it couldn't , but the post I quoted quite clearly mentions a VOA, which is totally different to a visa exempt entry I mentioned it to clarify the point for other people reading the thread who may be in a similar situation
  19. You are also missing the point that a VOA can not be converted into a Non-O in country
  20. Your words Your words The OP clearly states that his passport expires before his extension
