  1. I'm not a gambling man, but I would go ALL in that it was human error, why, because without a strong police presence, speed cameras, heavy fines, loss of license and jail time penalties for excessive speeding, you will continue to see what transpired, i.e. countless deaths on Thai roads. If anyone is to blame, it is the entire police force, I NEVER see them on the roads, only during school times to assist the kids crossing the roads at pedestrian/zebra crossings where drivers/riders always fail to stop, not only that, I see many people breaking road rules in front of them and they do nothing, absolutely nothing. RIP to those who perished in this awful tragic accident, and if you wonder why I do the hour round trip to drop off our kids to school and then again for an hour to pick them up as opposed to putting them in a death trap which I see many of speeding and overtaking with scores of kids in them oblivious to what could happen, it's because I value our kids lives.
  2. Both pizzas in my opinion have very little cheese, your photo shows a better crispier crust, but would be a lot better with a good mozzarella & cheddar mix. The thing most people don't understand about pizzas is that without a good quality cheese mix, your basically eating flour and whatever ingredients are on it, suffice to say the biggest cost in the pizza is the cheese which gives it body. I tend to be a good critic of pizzas as I grew up working with Italians who had a very successful pizzeria which you'd literally have to book to get a table, packed 7 days a week, big family and lots of staff, still going to this day some 40 plus years later.
  3. Sure, sure, next we'll hear the victim was charged for assaulting police, nothing to see here, move on.
  4. Day in, say out, I see the way they drive completely full with kids in them on the way to school, driving way over the speed limit, overtaking etc, I dread the day. RIP EDIT: As we all know the police force here is (&^%^$, and unless they put up speed cameras everywhere and get agencies to enforce suspending licenses and providing heavy fines, jail times for those who think they can do what they want, nothing will change, countless lives will pass due to the government and it's agencies failing to protect it's citizen's.
  5. Good point, however I would consider myself a Citizen before a tourist, but I get your point and will ask as I would normally do before heading off to make sure that I had everything in order, similar to the annual trip to immigration, e.g. don't want to have to go back because I forgot something, which is never the case, but always a first time, the always forgetting something is the Mrs, even when I have asked her if we needed this or that with no Tiruk, so I don't ask anymore, I just take everything, including the kitchen sink, because I know better now to ask her ????
  6. As you are looking for a 3 bedroom apartment, that is what essentially what you require, so why settle for a 2 bedroom and a one bedroom for half the price. Things to consider are, are 3 bedrooms more rare than 2 and 1 bedroom apartments, hence the price of a 3 bedroom being more expensive, regardless if you can buy a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom for half the price. I know back in my home country, and I would assume the same would apply here, i.e. you can only build so many units in a building before you reach the maximum floor space ratio permitted for the building, suffice to say, most developers would opt for 2 and 1 bedroom units so as to maximize their profits, that said, council codes do also want a mix of a few 3 bedrooms thrown in, although some aren't so stringent, e.g. I have seen a building full of 2 bedroom units, others a mix of predominantly 2's and some 1 bedders. The above said, if 3 bedders are rare and cost more, then that might be what you should buy for future capital appreciation, e.g. the more 2 and 1 bedders available, the more competition on prices when reselling, whereas the rare 3 bedders can command there prices. Just something to think about and that said, if you don't need a 3 bedder, you can always buy a 2 bedder in BKK and a 1 bedder at a holiday destination for your holidays or as an investment.
  7. My passport is due for renewal in November and as I live next to Laos, the Embassy I will go to is there to renew my passport as its much more convenient for me to travel over the border with a re-entry permit, e.g. hours drive to the border and then 30 minutes by taxi. Naturally I would have to go back to pick up the new passport a few weeks later, so same procedure would apply as opposed to me flying to Bangkok twice. The above said, I would presume that the Embassy in Laos will provide me with my new passport and a letter to give to immigration here which would be accepted. Anyone renewed a passport outside of Thailand and outside of their home country and were provided with a new passport and letter for immigration without any dramas ?
  8. Yep, did myself once, but that was on my arm, dowsed the cut in Betadine bit on a belt and stitched away, 8 stiches in all, did it hurt, just a weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bit. My friend who was watching at the time who didn't have the stomach to help me, looked like this guy, I don't know who was screaming louder to be honest.
  9. I have a banking app which is accessed by my finger print, could they access my account without my finger print ?
  10. I always get the bank letter the day before I go to immigration as it's a fair hike to get there. The immigration office accepts the fact that I make a withdrawal on the day that I go to them, i.e. the day after the bank letter, as long as I provide them with 2 photocopies of my updated bank passbook on that day.
  11. Don't forget to take all the necessary documents, e.g. Dr's letter and others that will have to accompany your IDP and overseas drivers license.
  12. When I went from 2 year to 5 year drivers and riders licenses with different numbers it was original and photocopy of the Dr's letter. I didn't even see the Dr, thanks to the wife, cost 60 baht. Could vary depending on the motor registry, just remember where you are as nothing seems to be in sync.
  13. What can one say, all you can do is teach your kids about who not to trust, which means everyone, teachers included, and if and when such a thing happens to tell Dad asap, so Dad can take care of the matter forthwith.
  14. I believe you mean the lessor, as opposed to the tenant, i.e. the lessor is the landlord, on the other hand, possessor is the same as the tenant, however I haven't seen anything in writing stating that the possessor/tenant can lodge a TM30, i.e. unless I am assume that an immigration office has asked for one from the tenant due to a reluctant owner, or lessor not willing to submit one, and of course could follow with a fine for the possessor/tenant if lodgement of a TM30 is late, which of course would be unfair, but it is what it is and would solve immigrations problem without them having to take any further action on who really is to blame for not complying, i.e. the owner or lessor.
  15. I can only comments from a married farang point of view on this, i.e. if your married to a Thai and she is the holder of the blue book at the address that you are staying at, then she is the one that has to file the TM30, not you. The above said, not sure about the single chaps, also learning as I read. EDIT: Some immigration offices are relaxed about this, so some farangs have said their wives don't have too at their immigration office.
  16. I left Thailand on 18 October and returned 28 October for an overseas trip on a single re-entry permit, upon my return I received an email reminder, that said 90 day due on 23 November, I didn't renew it as I new the clock on 90 days started again when I re-entered on 28 October so I did it on 11 January I believe and it gave me till 30 January and I am assuming it did that because my Marriage extension expired on 31 January and is currently under consideration. So it worked for me, next thing to look out for, for me is to see what happens on 30 January when I try again, if it doesn't work, I don't think I will need to do anything as immigration office knows that I have my extension application in with them and have to get the stamp in my passport at their office on 1 March, so if it doesn't happen on 30 January, I will get them to issue me another 90 days on 1 March when I get the stamp in my passport. It could be that your friends didn't enter the new entry day in the system when they applied for their 90 days ?
  17. Only foreigner TM6 is no longer in use, I recently arrived by plane, no more TM6, although I do keep my boarding pass in my passport to remind me when I entered the country because some forms still ask the question, so I use it to refer to when I entered the country last. If your wife has registered online, it's easy to do Immigration would have to give you till the next business day to report that either you are back or you have or had have guests staying at your wife's property. So Monday would be ok, as for notifying them by post goes, I am not sure.
  18. I don't know about that, back home you cannot own a fire arm unless you have a permit which is very hard to get, e.g. own a business that carries a lot of cash or your a member of a gun club. All guns were asked to be handed in after the Port Arthur massacre and most people complied, get caught with an unregistered gun and you could do 14 years in prison for a pistol or 5 years if other. That's enough to deter one, however they still do find them amongst feuding rival gangs of a particular ethnicity which are usually linked to bike gang members, and bribing the cops is a non event, albeit it is a nanny state, the cops are respected as law abiding and uphold the law.
  19. Also knowing that they have a lazy police force, if you can call it that, who can be bought, makes them fear punishment less much less than back in the home country where you would worry if your seat belt was fastened before you started your car, let alone carry a weapon.
  20. Easy solution, pay the fine, get the receipt and provide him with a copy, advising him that you are deducting it from the rent. If he doesn't like it, then say, well you shouldn't be too busy, I warned you and this is how it is, period ! You not having a rental agreement in writing is a major problem, but you already know that, and that is your problem.
  21. I encourage more of these Thai men with huge ego's to do the same, but before inflicting any damage to others. No loss here and nothing to see, move along
