Family appeal for missing British man in Thailand
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think his family was concerned based on odd/unusual messages from him via FB/Messenger, rather than a five-day MIA. -
Family appeal for missing British man in Thailand
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think he has been found. Still has both kidneys, and a big old facial tattoo. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13390749/british-father-missing-thailand-solo-retirement-holiday-messages.html -
PM Srettha Unaware of Thaksin’s Myanmar Meetings
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Conan O'Brien has said that The Music Man inspired the plot of this episode, and "Ya Got Trouble" inspired the Monorail Song. Strettha is pedaling a lot of questionable ideas (digital wallet, land bridge, war on drugs), but he's almost too naive to realize these are "cons". Hmmm. Not a good sign in a PM. He appears to be unaware quite often. He's off to a good start. -
Gasping For Air: Thai Passengers React to Engine Mishap
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
On the plus side the pilot didn't demand that passengers get out and push the aircraft so he could jump-start it.- 101 replies

Considering no one can really define the "Sufficiency Economy Philosophy", and it can be used to mean pretty much anything, it is startling that someone, anyone wishes to constrain comedic performances. You hardly hear the term "Sufficiency Economy" anymore, probably for good reason. I'm surprised he didn't get in trouble for mocking "Soft Power".

Cabinet Reshuffle: Four Out, Six New Faces in Thai Government
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A major reshuffle after such a brief period is evidence of a dysfunctional government and system. And it will be used as an excuse to explain away the future lack of accomplishments. Six, currently, I think, pre-re-shuffle. I think PTP would put forward a candidate for the house and senate to approve. -
No one is being "removed". trump is the republican nominee. Right now it looks like he will win a second term, which he will serve out barring death. If he loses, well then, he doesn't need to be "removed". I think you are being silly and hysterical.

Digital Wallet Scheme Subject to Audit Request
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't think anyone wants to be seen to be "legally" approving this scheme because they all know that it is a bad idea, and in the future people will be prosecuted for malfeasance. The call for lengthy reviews, and the formation of more committees to "study" this proposal, allows those with authority to slow it down and hopefully it dies a quiet simpering death. The "funding" for this proposal seems to change often, and having the BAAC (under the stewardship of Capt. Thamanat) fund a significant portion seems unwise. -
Colin Jost's set. Favorite joke: “Can we just acknowledge how refreshing it is to see a president of the United States at an event that doesn’t begin with a bailiff saying ‘all rise’?” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c6uQrPLiZk

Big Joke demands top job at Royal Thai Police HQ
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The rumor is that Hapkarn doesn't share or play well with others. And that he doesn't remit the percentage of ill-gotten booty upwards. In short, he's skimming, or in the case of these illegal gaming enterprises, not sharing at all. -
Harvey Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction overturned
bamnutsak replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It sounds like he will be transferred to the California Corrections Department to continue serving his 16-year sentence there for rape. Beats upstate NY (Rome). Not sure this NY reversal will impact his California conviction as the rules of evidence in rape cases is different. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-04-25/is-harvey-weinsteins-california-conviction-in-jeopardy-after-new-york-appeals-ruling -
Illegal Thai Workers Protest in South Korea, Draw Criticism Online
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So no indignation or disdain heaped on South Korean employers for hiring these Thai workers? Or South Koreans availing themselves of more cost-effective "Personal Services"? Curious. -
THE PRESIDENT: His words, not mine. He described the Dobbs decision as a “miracle.” Maybe it’s coming from that Bible he’s trying to sell. (Laughter.) Whoa. I almost wanted to buy one just to see what the hell is in it. (Laughter.) https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2024/04/23/remarks-by-president-biden-at-a-campaign-event-tampa-fl-2/ I like how he crossed himself after this comment. Another good zinger... (on the four-year anniversary of trump's legendary presser where he talked about injecting bleach) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4ex3DSx_mY Biden is certainly very busy on the campaign trail, visiting multiple states in one day, and making multiple visits in each stop.

Government Promises to Ease Traffic Woes on Rama II Road
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"Government Promises to Ease Traffic Woes on Rama II Road" Right after they solve the air quality issues, and traffic in Bangkok. Given the government's performance on this simple "land-bridge" one can only imagine what that idiotic idea of linking Chumpon and Ranong will look like. -
Big Joke demands top job at Royal Thai Police HQ
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
His "higher-ups" are Prawit and Thaksin, among others. The fact that they are not supporting him now is telling. He seems desperate and irrational, which is unusual for him. Filing a complaint against the PM, and then withdrawing a few days later points to this irrationality. -
This probably fits into the GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) category, where in some locales (not the U.S.) Pregabalin (Lyrica) is indicated for the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) in adults. Generalised anxiety disorder The dose range is 150 to 600 mg per day given as two or three divided doses. The need for treatment should be reassessed regularly.

Thai tourism sector proposes 300-baht tax to counter over-tourism
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Wow! They went there. An "Anti-Tourism Tax". How "Thai". The excuses for this 300 baht tourist fee have been all over the map in the years since it was advanced. Unpaid medical bills Death/injury benefit Health insurance Tourism Development Fund Coral reefs And there is never any detail on how this "fund" will be administered, and if public transparency will be provided. A nine billion baht annual slush fund seems ripe for corruption. -
Health Ministry approves medical use of opium and magic mushrooms
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Random thoughts... Cholnan is said to be being removed as Minister of Public Health in an expected cabinet reshuffle. Interesting that he took such quick and decisive action on this. Was there any public/professional input requested/considered for this change? Who/which organizations of health-care providers were agitating for this change? For cannabis, there was a 120 day waiting period from Gazetting. This change is "immediate". Curious. Which treatment(s) are being considered for these two substances? Who will be doing any "research"? Who will produce the "mushrooms"? Who will produce the opium? How would it be consumed?
