Clutch intra-divisional away win, great game. Doubly important given their next opponent. Definitely, worth a 03:25 wake-up call.

Taylor Swift Donates $5 Million to Hurricane Relief Efforts
bamnutsak replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Ms. Swift made this donation directly to Feeding America. The non-profit publicized the donation, which probably resulted in additional donations. A Timeline of Taylor Swift’s Generosity https://www.billboard.com/lists/taylor-swifts-charity-donations-gifts-timeline/october-2011-she-donates-70000-in-books-to-her-hometown-library/ -
I was able to port out my Tmobile prepaid/payg SIM/number to UltraMobile PAYG ($3/month) by phoning TMobile customer service from Thailand. Mint, Ultra are part of TMobile so their customer service can 'see' everything the change was instantaneous. I'd consider giving it a try. As always YMMV. This is a port out/in and not a new activation. And you keep the same number, which can be handy. Once you've done this consider registering (via a VPN and your UltraMobile number) for Google Voice, which for me works in all of the ~ 20 or so applications. For other new UltraMobile PAYG SIMs, I had a relative activate them in the U.S. ( a link is sent to the phone, which I had my relative copy/paste to me, here where I took over the registration process) before mailing them onto me - meant for friends here who needed a solution.

You may be able to port out your Mint number to UltraMobile's $3/month (includes 100 SMSes) PAYG plan. I think Mint and UltraMobile are part of Tmobile. I was able to port my TMobile SIM/number out to UltraMobile's $3/month plan. This plan supports WiFi calling, and SMS'es are delivered reliably.

How do you pay?
bamnutsak replied to garygooner's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
99.5% PromptPay/TrueMoney (~ 49.5%), foreign credit cards (~50%) (always pay in THB, no local fees, no issues, my credit cards do not charge any foreign transaction fees). rarely pay in cash, maybe motorbike taxis. -
I wonder why they made the change to reduce the window for 90-day reporting online. They need to update the TM47 online user's guide. Conditions for receiving notice of residence more than 90 days online - Submit a request in advance before the due date for the next report within 15 days. https://tm47.immigration.go.th/manual/IndexForeign.html

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)
bamnutsak replied to Rimmer's topic in Entertainment
I watched the first episode of this - I'm a sucker for British police procedurals - and thought it was quite good, nigh on hilarious. I plan to binge it over the next one or two days. I wouldn't call the protagonist (John) "bumbling". I think a second series is all but guaranteed. -
"Almost" 200 grams of gold. Sure. Can you imagine, for a moment, the apoplectic outrage on the Right if Kamala Harris was hawking fake watches? Or silver coins? Or NFTs? Or Digital Trading Cards? Or BitCoin?

7-Eleven Introduces Convenient PromptPay QR Code Payments Nationwide
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
AFAIK some banks here offer an ATM Debit Card with 'Tap-to-Pay' functionality. I use the SCB LET’S SCB Debit Card. Convenient contactless payments Just tap your debit card at an EDC terminal at merchants accepting contactless payments by yourself. https://www.scb.co.th/en/personal-banking/cards/debit-cards/lets-scb.html I do not know if some/all 7/11's accept this form of payment, or if they have a minimum purchase amount? At 7/11, I use TrueMoney wallet, which is very fast and easy. Just open the app, press 'Pay' allow the clerk to scan your QR code, finished. ( I top up my TrueMoney wallet with a transfer from SCB, usually keeping the balance below 1,000 THB. ) I have used the Tap-to-Pay option on this card at other stores, and the MRT. But I mostly use the SCBEasy app for PromptPay scans/purchases, -

Harris holds 7-point lead over Trump in national survey
bamnutsak replied to Inderpland's topic in Political Soapbox
Hmm. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/national-polls/ Clinton +4, actual LOST https://www.pewresearch.org/methods/2021/03/02/what-2020s-election-poll-errors-tell-us-about-the-accuracy-of-issue-polling/ Biden +12, actual +4 WON Margin of error on the national poll is meaning ess, as the popular vote is meaningless. Harris would have to win the popular vote by eight (+) points to overcome the Electoral College bias. Fewer than 20,000 people in Pennsylvania may/will/could decide the election. -
Trial scheduled to start next week. Confidential settlement. Not surprising Newsmax decided to settle. I guess I'm surprised Smartmatic agreed to a settlement, but guaranteed cash now (or scheduled over time) is better than some larger amount that might never be paid? Newsmax is not exactly a booming business like Fox. 2024 revenue estimated at ~ $191 million. I'd be shocked if the settlement was north of $25 million.

Harris holds 7-point lead over Trump in national survey
bamnutsak replied to Inderpland's topic in Political Soapbox
Polls are more reliable in the DPRK than in the U.S. Fewer and fewer States and voters wield control over the national election and the pool of likely/undecided voters is reduced to several million, so the hunt for poll 'valid' poll participants leads to highly unreliable results, IMO. Half the likely/undecided may not choose until after they pull the curtain closed. And half of them will probably, accidentally. tick the wrong box. Even focus group interviews can be unreliable as people lie to get into them. -
