  1. Yes, I had Chase on the brain. But what was the reason for the OP to search out a Citi ATM in the first post? They can use any ATM.
  2. So why are you looking for a Citi ATM? You can use ANY ATM.
  3. Been there, done that...Peter Navarro to the rescue. 92 Percent of Trump’s China Tariff Proceeds Has Gone to Bail Out Angry Farmers In 2018 and ’19, Trump authorized payments to U.S. farmers of $28 billion to offset their losses from Chinese trade retaliation. This year, with farmers struggling under the twin crises of the trade war and the pandemic, bailouts have soared way higher. Trump promised angry farmers another $19 billion in April and $14 billion in September—bringing his bailouts to a grand total of $61 billion. He has pledged to continue these bailouts until the trade war ends. That trade war has cost U.S. companies many billions in new import taxes (while undermining their competitiveness and increasing consumer prices), yet it has earned the government far less. As the chart above shows, payouts to farmers battered by Chinese retaliation have eaten up over 92 percent of the trade-war tax proceeds. https://www.cfr.org/blog/92-percent-trumps-china-tariff-proceeds-has-gone-bail-out-angry-farmers And what's up with Canada? Are illegals and drugs flowing in over our northern border?
  4. People often forget to factor in the 220 THB local ATM fee when calculating the overall resulting "rate". So if you took 20,000 THB away from the ATM it was actually 20,220 THB (in USD at the daily visa/mc rate). This assumes that your bank does NOT reimburse this fee as do Fidelity, Schwab and a few others. No clue if Citi-US does.
  5. I finally received my new Fidelity ATM Debit card - sent first class airmail, $1.33, took 20 days. I activated it, using the Fidelity app. I used it successfully to withdraw 20,000 THB at a Bangkok Bank ATM.
  6. All the details are in the link to the thread you attached. https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/instructions-for-ds-82-processing-by-mail-and-online-fee-payment-for-u-s-citizens-residing-in-thailand/
  7. What reason, for not having a TIN, did they find acceptable for Part 2, Section 2? I am thinking about using one of the offered reasons, "Types of income exempted to taxation" and maybe (U.S. Social Security) in parens. Agree the FATCA form is straight-forward as is the W-9.
  8. For a U.S. passport renewal you have to submit your current passport. I do not think you can apply for an extension if you do not have your passport in hand.
  9. Processing time per the USEMBTHL is up to six to eight weeks. Recent reports, this year, have been five to seven weeks, but some reports with shorter turn-around times (3 ~ 4 weeks). Ideally, you'd mail it in the same day you got a sixty-day stamp. Not sure any office will provide a 30-day extension with 47 days on the clock? Tricky situation. I might consider leaving today, re-enter on a new 60 day stamp, then mail the DS-82 package.
  10. Can anyone post the entire FATCA/CRS Individual self-certification form? To me (U.S. citizen, tax resident in Thailand) it looks like we might have to fill out the self-certification form, just parts 1, 2 & 3. I don't think the W-8 and W-9 are applicable, to me anyway. Admittedly an older document... https://media.krungthaixspring.com/docs/en/services/FatcaForm_EN.pdf

  12. A SWIFT first-party international wire transfer of USD directly to your account at Bangkok Bank in Thailand may be the best all-around option. But you need to check with Vanguard (or Fidelity, TRowe, Citi etc.) to see what their procedures and costs are. WISE may also be an alternative. I know that Fidelity offers fee-free SWIFT transfers, BUT you need to have a Medallion-endorsed transfer order on file, and you need to call in the transfer. For me, I was required to submit this standing order in person at a Fidelity branch. Transfers flow from Fidelity to Chase JP Morgan (intermediary bank, no fee) and on to BBL/THL, where they offer the TT Buying Rate and a sliding fee of between 200 and 500 THB. https://aseannow.com/topic/1271424-usa-vanguard-wire-transfer-to-bangkok-bank/
  13. Pete Hegseth throws an axe, of course it strikes a USMA drummer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMrVdFnjEjs
  14. Can you expand a bit on what you were doing? Were you using a US-issued ATM Debit card to withdraw THB here? Which financial institution issued the debit card? Is it Visa or MC (the logo should be on the front of the card)? Does this bank charge any additional fees (percentage)? Some do not charge a fee, some do. Typically 2%. How much THB did you withdraw? How much USD was withdrawn from your account? Did you note the local fee? Was it 220 THB? The rate should be from VISA or MC, and they have one rate per day, AFAIK. https://usa.visa.com/support/consumer/travel-support/exchange-rate-calculator.html With 0% fee, yesterday from VISA the rate would have been 34.19, WITHOUT factoring in the 220 THB ATM fee. Fidelity does not charge a fee, and they reimburse the 220 THB ATM fee, usually within 48 hours.
  15. Most merchants have chip reader terminals and support Tap-to-Pay.
  16. I haven't received my new Fidelity ATM Debit card so no first-hand experience. My guess is that it will work in EMV Chip-enabled ATMs here, but no clue how wide-spread those are here. Based on a quick scan of SCB and BBL it looks like they've switched their cards and ATMs over to EMV chip-enabled. The new card does support Tap-to-Pay, and can be added to your Google Wallet. The best news...no foreign transaction fee. (The Fidelity Visa credit card has had no foreign transaction fees for a few years.) Fidelity reimburses all ATM fees, foreign and domestic, including the local ATM fee here (220 THB), usually within 48 hours. My limit on ATM withdrawals is $1,000 per day. This may vary for each customer.
  17. I've been buying MS Office keys from vip-scdkey for ~ five-ish years. Most recently, new PC build, July, ~ $29 (USD). Legit. Highly recommended.
  18. What is your reporting office?
  19. You will ALWAYS pay a premium for direct non-stop flights, supply/demand. Comparing prices from "a few years ago", or with different city-pairs is a waste of time. ALL of the cheaper fare buckets to/from BKK are sold out for the next ~ 3 months. Travel in March still has cheaper fare buckets, and going via a Middle East carrier might get you down to ~ 650 GBP v. ~ 1,000 direct non-stop.
  20. For me, with some ~ 20 applications GV works with all of them. I do have UltraMobile PAYG (int'l roaming/WiFi Calling) as back-up. Incorrect, UM PAYG roams here fine, on mobile signal ("R" displays above mobile signal strength) OR with WiFI Calling. Incorrect. (It does work in the U.S. too, of course, so that helps if you make trips back home.) Meh. But UM/PAYG supports all of your "foolproof" requirements. Correct. UM/PAYG supports WiFi Calling. Fidelity offers OTP via their mobile app (for desktop/web login). In addition to SMS. BofA supports a FIDO key.
  21. Assuming you have AIS Fibre, you can use AIS Play, an app that runs on a phone (and can be cast to a TV), a TV (natively), or a streaming device attached to the TV. https://www.ais.th/play/en/freecontents.html You can layer additional services onto AIS Play. 3BB Fibre has a similar streaming offer. What ISP/package do you have? Your LAN details? Equipment details?
  22. Can you narrow down "product"? Flower? Oil? Extract? Edible? Budget? Location? This one.
  23. Thank you for having Dark Mode.
