  1. Trump claims Zuckerberg plotted against him during the 2020 election in soon-to-be released book Former President Donald Trump writes in a new book set to be published next week that Mark Zuckerberg plotted against him during the 2020 election and said the Meta chief executive would “spend the rest of his life in prison” if he did it again. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/28/trump-zuckerberg-election-book-00176639 No pressure there. Justices side with Biden over government’s influence on social media content moderation The Supreme Court on Wednesday threw out a lawsuit seeking to limit the government’s ability to communicate with social media companies about their content moderation policies. By a vote of 6-3, the court ruled that that the plaintiffs did not have a legal right, known as standing, to bring their lawsuit. Writing for the majority, Justice Amy Coney Barrett cited the lack of any “concrete link” between the restrictions that the plaintiffs complained of and the conduct of government officials – and in any event, she concluded, a court order blocking communication between government officials and social media companies likely would not have any effect on decision-making by those platforms, which can continue to enforce their policies. https://www.scotusblog.com/2024/06/justices-side-with-biden-over-governments-influence-on-social-media-content-moderation/ Zuckerberg’s Letter to Jordan: Headline Grabbing, Legally Insignificant While some Republicans lawmakers are making political hay out of Zuckerberg’s letter, did he say anything that might have moved the legal needle in favor of the plaintiffs’ First Amendment case against the government over such jawboning pressure in Murthy v. Missouri? The Wall Street Journal’s James Freeman suggested the answer might be yes, opining that Zuckerberg now could be just the right person to “mount a new court challenge against the Biden-Harris administration.” https://www.aei.org/technology-and-innovation/zuckerbergs-letter-to-jordan-headline-grabbing-legally-insignificant/ Zuckerberg's letter: https://wsvn.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/08/Zuckerberg-letter-3.pdf
  2. I found one of those videos you told me about, Thank you.
  3. I think some of these are meant to scare/goad the Trump campaign back on message, and its supporters into getting out the vote?
  4. Awesome burn on Trump. Thank you, Governor, I'll be stealing this zinger. Mass. Gov. Maura Healey says Trump can't "spell IVF, let alone understand what it means"
  5. Maybe you shouldn't vote this cycle? Although the thought of you arranging one testicle in a car-door jamb would make an awesome TIKTOK. Go for it.
  6. 'Desecrated by Donald Trump': Widow of former marine calls out Trump’s Arlington photo-op. Gen. Kelly's Son was his platoon commander and is buried in a nearby grave. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzFD9KtrHZE
  7. Have two UltraMobile SIMs/numbers. Both work fine. I use the $3/month PAYG option. I use WiFi Calling. As you are in the U.S. it might be wise to get another UltraMobile PAYG SIM ($13 on eBay), activate it, sign up for a (another) Google Voice number with that new UMPAYG SIM number.
  8. Yes, I'm chuckling imagining Trump and Vance on a bus tour of Southern Georgia, interacting with real people.
  9. And you have to add into the mix all the motivated, newly-registered, young, first-time voters who, in many states, will also be voting on both Reproductive Rights and Cannabis ballot initiatives. These will drive voters to the polls in record volumes. In Florida, they have BOTH. And the down-ballot effects may be impactful. The "TRENDS" in the polls are probably the only important thing to note now. No one thinks a general election poll means anything today re: the presidency.
  10. Trump's flip-flops on abortion is like watching one of those endless Pickleball (doubles) rallies.
  11. First off, respect is earned. And we respect people, individuals, and not a voting bloc. Obviously, the majority, ~90 % of trump voters are decent folks, who start off with a very high level of respect from me. Most understand that white, working-class citizens have found themselves in challenging situations over he past ~ 50 years. I dispute Mr. Kristof's tired trope about this segment of the population being "demonized" because they support Trump. And he seems to be dismissing racial and gender inequality quite cavalierly, implying that these have distracted us from addressing class issues. We haven't really "solved" the former, so no reason to expect we can solve the latter. I'm not sure how much Trump 45, or Republican Senators/Congresspeople, red state governors/legislatures have done to help this class to date?
  12. Some have said it was Huyen "Steven" Cheung.
  13. The sheer incompetence that Trump, Vance, the campaign, and the proxies have displayed on this incident is astounding. Instead of just biting the bullet and saying you messed up and apologize they turn a one-day minor story into a week-long news story that shows no signs of abating. I understand that the 'strategy' was to saddle Harris with the Afghanistan withdrawal aka "Do the Benghazi" but... She wasn't president, and stop with the last person in the room trope. Trump negotiated the deal/timeline with the Taliban. The public is sick of the two wars and doesn't want to revisit them. People want to look forward not backward. All the anti-endless war folks should be happy but they're not for some reason. I'm shocked that so many here defend Trump's actions. Like the Fifth Ave. murder scenario, I honestly believe that Trump could urinate on graves in ANC and some here would find a way to defend him.
  14. His nickname was "four-iron". And his first wife died under similar circumstances. Classic Thai scumbag/gangster.
  15. Once you and riclag are done with the mutual satisfaction of each other maybe you could post links?
  16. During the interaction with the High School band, both Walz and Harris came across as real people who genuinely care about everyone. I'm imagining JD Vance awkwardly asking each band member how long they've been playing that instrument. Or Trump buffoonishly claiming that he's the best musician ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuaxDaMTu9E
  17. This may be the whopper of all Flip-flops?
  18. You do realize that I posted that WiKi link, and you quoted it. Thanks? Face-palm.
  19. That's usually what neighbors say about the serial killer discovered in the neighborhood.
  20. I did. That article is more than two years old and seems to cover, mostly, elections. I was hoping you could update us on the results.
  21. Well, in an uncontrolled moment, he did tell the VP to "go to hell". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te9fTn86K3Q And then he defended that comment by saying that "sometimes he gets frustrated and pissed off". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PK-pLUy9vE He seems unable to control himself. He's got to work hard every day just to get UP to weird.
  22. JD Vance's "experience" is limited to fewer than two years as a U.S. Senator. But do go on.
  23. They also generally share socially liberal outlooks, including on issues such as LGBT rights, and have harnessed grassroots campaigning to achieve strong swings towards them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teal_independents Continue spraying. Can you share some of these "successes"? I searched a bit and came up dry.
  24. At least he agrees with himself. Occasionally,
