  1. Pete Hegseth throws an axe, of course it strikes a USMA drummer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMrVdFnjEjs
  2. Can you expand a bit on what you were doing? Were you using a US-issued ATM Debit card to withdraw THB here? Which financial institution issued the debit card? Is it Visa or MC (the logo should be on the front of the card)? Does this bank charge any additional fees (percentage)? Some do not charge a fee, some do. Typically 2%. How much THB did you withdraw? How much USD was withdrawn from your account? Did you note the local fee? Was it 220 THB? The rate should be from VISA or MC, and they have one rate per day, AFAIK. https://usa.visa.com/support/consumer/travel-support/exchange-rate-calculator.html With 0% fee, yesterday from VISA the rate would have been 34.19, WITHOUT factoring in the 220 THB ATM fee. Fidelity does not charge a fee, and they reimburse the 220 THB ATM fee, usually within 48 hours.
  3. Most merchants have chip reader terminals and support Tap-to-Pay.
  4. I haven't received my new Fidelity ATM Debit card so no first-hand experience. My guess is that it will work in EMV Chip-enabled ATMs here, but no clue how wide-spread those are here. Based on a quick scan of SCB and BBL it looks like they've switched their cards and ATMs over to EMV chip-enabled. The new card does support Tap-to-Pay, and can be added to your Google Wallet. The best news...no foreign transaction fee. (The Fidelity Visa credit card has had no foreign transaction fees for a few years.) Fidelity reimburses all ATM fees, foreign and domestic, including the local ATM fee here (220 THB), usually within 48 hours. My limit on ATM withdrawals is $1,000 per day. This may vary for each customer.
  5. I've been buying MS Office keys from vip-scdkey for ~ five-ish years. Most recently, new PC build, July, ~ $29 (USD). Legit. Highly recommended.
  6. What is your reporting office?
  7. You will ALWAYS pay a premium for direct non-stop flights, supply/demand. Comparing prices from "a few years ago", or with different city-pairs is a waste of time. ALL of the cheaper fare buckets to/from BKK are sold out for the next ~ 3 months. Travel in March still has cheaper fare buckets, and going via a Middle East carrier might get you down to ~ 650 GBP v. ~ 1,000 direct non-stop.
  8. For me, with some ~ 20 applications GV works with all of them. I do have UltraMobile PAYG (int'l roaming/WiFi Calling) as back-up. Incorrect, UM PAYG roams here fine, on mobile signal ("R" displays above mobile signal strength) OR with WiFI Calling. Incorrect. (It does work in the U.S. too, of course, so that helps if you make trips back home.) Meh. But UM/PAYG supports all of your "foolproof" requirements. Correct. UM/PAYG supports WiFi Calling. Fidelity offers OTP via their mobile app (for desktop/web login). In addition to SMS. BofA supports a FIDO key.
  9. Assuming you have AIS Fibre, you can use AIS Play, an app that runs on a phone (and can be cast to a TV), a TV (natively), or a streaming device attached to the TV. https://www.ais.th/play/en/freecontents.html You can layer additional services onto AIS Play. 3BB Fibre has a similar streaming offer. What ISP/package do you have? Your LAN details? Equipment details?
  10. Can you narrow down "product"? Flower? Oil? Extract? Edible? Budget? Location? This one.
  11. Thank you for having Dark Mode.
  12. Most anyone would want to have Ms. Harris on their podcast. Limiting the duration, and having to to travel seem like trivial issues that Mr. Rogan could easily accommodate. That he doesn't says everything you need to know about this putz.
  13. Dictators prey on loneliness.
  14. I think Alina Habba is more likely for AG. Judge Canon would replace Thomas or Alito (who both want to retire) on SCOTUS.
  15. How many wives does Big Joke have? Is this the wife that we're told is extremely wealthy?
  16. This isn't really about "insurance". That's just a word they use on a PPT deck, occasionally. Some of the collected monies might be disbursed to hospitals to cover unpaid bills, that have been estimated to be 300 million baht on the very high end.
  17. The lack of justice, in an almost farcical manner, explains the recent uptick in violence in the South. Thailand’s Deep South Policy: The Need for Justice The failure to convict individuals for a massacre in Thailand’s Deep South 20 years ago will undermine reforms. https://fulcrum.sg/thailands-deep-south-policy-the-need-for-justice/
  18. Who knows, but my guess today is 'No'. The ETA would be a separate 'process'. Different ministries, but that's not to say the MoFA won't also charge for an ETA. The Ministry of Tourism and Sport has been salivating for this massive Slush Fund for ages. Maybe they'll use this to pony up the F1 "commissions"? Krungthai Bank is said to be the collection point via an app.
  19. This topic has come up quite often here over the years...some of the reasons I recall people mentioning: manufacturers subsidize employees' salary, and pay SPIFFs employers are required to have a certain staff to sales/revenue ratio I'm sure a search would reveal other rationale.
  20. It is now 730 THB ( 1 April 2024), it is a Passenger Service Charge, and is included in the ticket. Airlines remit this to AoT. This 300 THB 'fee' is simply a cash grab by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport. There has been little to no rationale behind this 'fee' (insurance, hospital bills, coral reef restoration,etc.). Nor will there be any transparency in the future. At 30 m tourists, that's a 9 Billion Baht slush fund, ripe for picking by a Permanent Secretary. Collection of this fee has always been the issue as airlines want nothing to do with it. So it needs to be collected out of band - kiosk at the airport, more likely a mobile app. No clue why 300 THB is the "right" amount? Why not 1,000 THB?
  21. Grimace would have made a less weird running mate... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr9LwiSayWU
  22. With stamps totaling 37 baht. I used to do this when I applied by mail. I/we used to purchase an EMS sticker (for return tracking) but Imm started applying their EMS sticker over it. Imm/CW uses EMS. I think there is a large-ish Thai Post facility within the building. Four weeks was not unheard of back in the day, most recommended a visit in the six/eight week timeframe if no return receipt.
  23. I think there is a requirement for EMS postage on the return envelope, so 37 baht. Did your stamps total 37 baht or greater? (I know the immigration website still says 10 baht.) And it also says... Your registered mail must be sent to the Immigration office at least 15 days before the due date of notification. https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=1666
  24. What do you want to do, other than cast on YouTube? To cast YouTube, both devices need to be on the same WiFi network (so no use of a VPN). You need to install the YouTube app on your Samsung TV (you can download it from the Samsung apps store). Select a video, touch the "cast" icon, top looks like a TV with 3 wifi waves. Select the TV. You may be able to cast using pairing, or a code (which can support devices on different networks). https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7640706?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DiOS
