  1. you won't even be able to board the plane if you don't produce your UK passport
  2. consenting adults do go visit love hotels both of their own free will without monetary exchange, though I appreciate this is hard to fathom for the average pattaya mongers
  3. A part of it is 'bonded manufacturing' even though they're made in Rayong, the origin is still EU if it were to be sold in Thailand it would have to be 'imported' into Thailand, a visit to the various industrial estate would see custom gates sprinkled about, From Ducatis to Triumph and BMWs, so the only savings over wholly imported cars are the labour used in the assembly even if those manufacturer were to made a car in Thailand from scratch and not classify as 'imports' they wouldn't sell it too cheaply to undercut their other imported models look at BMWs and Volvos EV models from China where they got 0% tariff, they won't lower the price too much as they have same model with petrol engine that's got the import tax
  4. And non Thai nationals need visa and permission to stay in Thailand while Thais can stay as long as they like too, do you call that racist?
  5. Looks like the Honda CT now has direct competitor in the Yamaha PG-1 115cc engine from the Finn, knobbly tires no detail on price yet but looks to be cheaper than Honda's expensive toy position

  8. Both the topic and text did state he was talking about Debit cards https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Cards/Be1st-Smart-Card, which until now has been either mastercard or unionpay for a while Which is good news, I never managed to get the Mastercard debit from Bangkok bank's contactless to work
  9. Normally most of the branch's safety deposit boxes are full, need to find a new branch that's just opened to get a chance of renting one. but with some Banks like SCB closing down branches, it's foreseeable that there's not gonna be enough to go around in desirable area
  10. no, cardless ATM are Thai Bank's own invention and not a standard from the cards company. and even uses of Google Pay and Apple Pay to pay for goods and services in Thailand can be sporadic with some cashier's edc terminal not being compatible
  11. with insurance product such as this, if you bail out earlier you might even be at a loss but you can borrow against the value, with interest if you need the money occasionally
  12. You open the app on your phone (with the necessary passwords or biometric you have set up), select the cardless withdrawal, select the amount you need, and the app with ask for your PIN (same PIN you use for mobile transfers on the app and such) the app then open the camera ready to scan then you press the button on the ATM, it shows the QR code, you scan that, then you press confirmation button on the ATM... cash comes out.. you're done it's a few more steps than inserting card, PIN and amount if you're used to that the advantage is that it lets you withdraw out of area without incurring the 20 baht fee, plus if you got rid of the card, no need for the annual fee.... but you'll be locked in Bangkok Bank's own ATM, can't used at other bank's ATM

  15. no need to keep it locked, you can have switch on the fire door that triggers the whole building fire alarm system that'll piss off enough residents every time someone opens it or even just a separate alarm to scare those that opens it and make security come and fine them with enough sign posted warning them of course
  16. Fingerprints or Facial recognition only and limit how often per month the co-owners can add a 'guest' would inconvenience the short term landlord enough that they are unable to do airbnbs anymore
  17. I too, make a u turn at pedestrian crossings, some roads in Bangkok I don't feel safe waiting to turn right into buildings waiting on the median with big trucks passing me on left, I'd rather wait for the pedestrian crossing lights to turn red and make a u turn there
  18. There used to be foreigner members of Lions club and maybe Rotarians, they have since passed away A lot of Restaurateur and hotel GMs in days past were pillars of the community too, not many from the old scene left these days Oh and not forgetting local newspaper owners, they certainly see themselves as one
