  1. I don't think the administration within Thailand that's the problem, it's the manufacture of Astrazeneca within Thailand that's yet to be approved by the relevant authorities. There are donated Astrazeneca vaccines floating around, you can check your certificate for the serial number to see where it's from I think there's ones manufactured from Korea and the Netherlands originally intended for Bhutan and UK donated to Thailand, it's possible that you'could got lucky and had both doses from the donated lots, these vaccines are recognized by the UK
  2. Chinese Stuff on Aliexpress or Thai online market like Lazada, Shopee or JD always comes in tax free, or at least the duty must have been pre-calculated in the freight, I think things from China enjoy some FTA deals where goods under certain amount comes in tax free. Your choice in choosing DHL DHL can't help it, they pay the duties all the time every time for speedy process, at least you got a reciept, but good luck trying to appeal that, things coming through the postal system you can appeal the valuation before coughing up the cash but that requires legwork
  3. you can pay bail for immigration offence to avoid IDC? or is it kinda 'bail'
  4. pink 'Distilled water' for batteries are acidic and would not help the corrosion that you might already have if you need to top up the coolant, the clear ones should be fine
  5. Wife got SMS on monday from Bumrungrad that they had opening for 2nd lot of Moderna, had a link and got to pay, doesn't say when it'll arrive, probably next year, what's strange is that I never got the sms from them, despite having had the offer via email from them for the government vaccine (AZ/Sinovac)a few months ago the link to this sign up page isn't on their main website either, so they must be selective in giving out the link, Anyone else got this offer?
  6. It used to be well known amongst certain circles that Leo from certain terroir has particular taste, you can check this on the label on the bottle/can to see where it's made or the production no. on the unopened box in case where you can't see the label, there's multiple plant dotted around the country the general concensus is Leo from Khonkaen is best, seconded by Nakhon Pathom and Pathum Thani it's probably down to the water source if it taste off it could have been shaked or stored or transported in the heat for too long
  7. Lots of furore in Thai social media about the removal of the Indian almond tree (Terminalia catappa) from the beach from North road to around Central soi 9 at the moment, reason from city hall is that the broad leaf falls on the walk way and creating work for sweepers and is a detriment to local vendors. Only detriment to the umbrella chair concessionaire I see is that the shade created gives them less reason for the customers to rent chair. These trees seems to be planted around the 70s, anyone love them?
  8. I've seen reverse cycle (heat pump) models installed in Chiangmai and Chiang rai, it does get cold enough to need them in the mountains there, all the heat pump models I've seen in Australia seem to be made in Thailand. The only difference in installation is that the outside unit needs drain pipes too Samsung with aluminium fins and piping leaking after a couple of years seem to be a thing, our technician said it's not possible to patch up unlike brass internals of other brands, and not economical to replace.
  9. Judging by the amount of empty land in Bangkok suddenly growing bananas, I'd say it cost less than the recently introduced property tax
  10. My local PO in Phra Khanong is closed from last week until tomorrow (13 Aug) because staff there contracted COVID, they still do deliveries, I got carded for EMS from overseas I hqd to pay tax on, but couldn't go in and pay until tomorrow
  11. I've had letter from the DLT after not taxing a bike for a while saying that I had to surrender the plate to the DLT (essentially declaring it off the road), and to re-register, I had to get a new plate, number and everything, so not nonsense
  12. After 3 years, the registration will be taken off the system is true, you'd have to re-register, and, get a new plate even. but the fine is only 1000 baht if you don't surrender the plate upon 3 years plus back taxes (1% interest per year) to re-register, various fees are around 1000 baht this is all if you do it yourself, at the DLT, preferrably less hassle if you can go to the original DLT that the bike was registered in, if not, you have to transfer to the new DLT, and more forms and fee.. so, if you go to the agents that can do it for you, charging around 4000 baht for the convenience doesn't seem for off you can pay the road tax and get the necessary insurance online now though, they'll mail you the new tax paper, so you'll need a Thai address
