  1. it is odd..... maybe just a small "error" which can sometimes lead to big confusion .
  2. OK.......... skimming through the "news report" from May 28..... the ONLY mention of interest to those who must fulfill the insurance requirement was this section , which specifically mentions the O-A visa : (1) ปรับลดเงินประกันสุขภาพสำหรับการตรวจลงตราประเภทคนอยู่ชั่วคราว (Non-Immigrant) รหัส 0-A จากเดิมจำนวน 3,000,000 บาท ให้เหลือเท่าก่อนสถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดของโรคติดเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 (โควิด-19) คือ 40,000 บาทสำหรับผู้ป่วยนอก และ 400,000 บาท so, i hope members will stop trying to have the same fate placed on plain Non-0 holders who are NOT required to buy insurance to extend their stays in this nice place 🙂
  3. thx.....sorry for the xtra posts ( was not going thru )
  4. OK ............. assumptions and most likely's are now open again . i
  5. my take from reading it ( the correct one 55 ) is : (7) Category Non-Immigrant Code O (L-A)
  6. comment from Ojas (another baseless opinion).... not Liquorice who answered it very well ! "There is no merger with the O and O-A visa. Both are separately listed as still being available."
  7. THAT would be a serious bummer. No hope for me at 75. Here is just ONE great example of someone giving a baseless opinion (P9) which then scares unblocktheplanet and surely some others .... these threads do nothing to help.... just mostly assumptions or misconceptions of some members. On the list there is a simple Non-O option , which many retirees have used for years . myself included. The requirements did not change before (regarding health insurance NOT required) ..... and it ain't gonna change now . that is what is most likely ! and that's all i got to say about that !
  8. exactly . but we will still have another 20 pages of what ifs, etc etc . those with O-A visas are, and have been p@ss- off that they have to do the insurance thing . I would be too . but.... wishing that those with simple non-o visas having to do the same ? Sure, nobody said as much ...... but keep hinting at the fact and talking about merging the two is not gonna help. life ain't fair. and there will always be guys who take it out with sad emojis instead of figuring another way ..
  9. you mean the aussie masters still let you grow veggies and have chickens ?
  10. gotta agree.... I think many here enjoy the "best of both worlds" .... living 15 or 20 km away from the concrete jungle .
  11. my lady comes from Khon Kaen. her dream was to meet a farang and live in Chiangmai . I just happened to be available 555 she definitely likes the North more than Isaan ....... prettier, not as much stealing , likes the character of northern people more .. to name a few things. and our house ! what a beauty !
  12. or.... ask for a second opinion from another Ex wife .. !
  13. Most common glaucoma med (drops) are latanaprost (xalatan brand name) ... and heat sensitivity is an issue .There are other types of drops as well . i would not recommend sending any. The Walmart suggestion is good. Even a general doctor visit is costly .... to say the least. Always amuses me when people say the cost of living here in Thailand is getting close to Western countries (US being the main culrprit ...) My glaucoma meds if bought at pharmacy cost me 650 baht for one, 130 baht for another . No script needed. Once in a while i go to govt hospital to check my eyes, and eye pressure (every 6 months) .... total cost 150 baht , and they smile at me .
  14. The thing about glaucoma meds is that they still do NOT improve the reading comprehension of people. a. op got on a plane b. op got off plane... IN USA (which requires prescriptions for the glaucoma meds) ... ( for our own safety, of course .... SARCASM .... ) c. obviously OP gets the glaucoma med here in Thailand .. and yes, don't need a prescription ....... d . ??? got it
  15. Thanks Sheryl... i agree. I have researched the HA injections well , and for my situation they could be a real knee saver. I am an "oldie" .. but good health except for the surprise of knee pain about 8 months ago, and they are slowly getting more sore and the stretch, light exercise has not worked . ( in contrast, 3 years ago i broke my hip and after surgery was walking within a few months and without any pain after a year .) I was just curious about that stem cell post .. thus my questions . I will getting a "one shot" dose in each knee of a Swiss brand viscoelastic solution . (HA injection)
  16. The stress of having to deal with (yet another) the trevails of getting insurers to pay would have killed me long ago . ( do they cover that ? 🙂
  17. did you have both knees done ? 80k for one , or ? can you share how you researched this option..... why you "trusted" trying this treatment . and , where did you do it ? lots of questions, i know . but, would definitely appreciate any info you can pass along rumak
  18. easy to say.... indeed ! Trying to get the Right exercise .... and the degree of exertion ... is a trial and error , case by case, joint by joint endeavor . And more often than not we err on one side or the other. my decision ( just yesterday) to go get the shots is based on my difficulty using my knees in a meaningful way to gain strength . so, my legs are getting weaker .
  19. keep all those replies in mind ....... go see the ortho in pattaya . Listen closely . Go back home and read up again on all the types of knee pain ( rheumatoid, osteoporosis, osteoARTHRITIS ( most common) .... and many others) . then come back here and ask some more 🙂 (sheryl is helpful to assist ) but ultimately you will need to make your own decision what to try first. ( not surgery )
  20. When i start to do "research" ..... i read whatever i can . Unfortunately, nowadays the sources shown on giggle are paid for almost exclusively by main street sources. Before there were many different ones ! But by searching and following some links a broader picture can be found. I especially like to look for "user reviews" ....regarding meds and procedures. Anywaysss.... a number of people reported good to excellent results... some lasting longer than the conservative 6 months usually quoted. I wonder how drs can keep throwing meds at people that all acknowledge are not good for longevity . And yes..... cheaper options than BK 5 star hospitals are to be found . MY opinion is that cost does not always mean better ( but sometimes, yes ) .
  21. ALL MY POSTS ARE FACT CHECKED ! by my wife
  22. yes, hopefully Saturday . I didn't expect to do it at first... but both knees now stiff. Not sure which one he gives ( but it is 3 shots, 1 a week ) Hyaluronic Acid shots ( from the internet ) : Brand Name How It's Given Euflexxa3 injections, each 1 week apart Hyalgan3 to 5 injections, each 1 week apart Orthovisc3 or 4 injections, each 1 week apart Supartz3 to 5 injections, each 1 week apart Synvisc3 injections, each 1 week apart Synvisc-One1 injection
  23. actually the dr i see is an orthopedist ...lol . must have been something in my subconcious that wrote osteopath.......
  24. 1. due to osteoarthritis and not that badly advanced ......check 2. i have always been fit ....... in todays world i am called "skinny".....check 3. The length of time they last , according to studies, varies. And by "cushioning" the bones, the further wear and tear can be greatly diminished. And also enable the patient to actually tolerate doing stretches and strengthening which is so necessary to maintain ones health IMO ..... and if reading the alternatives ( drugs with warnings not to use for long periods) ..... or opiates to mask the pain ... or steroids : i think HA injections are definitely a great alternative . Maybe they work, maybe not . One poster here has had very good results . ....... oh, yes, my osteopath is who suggested this option
