They do, Tui has some very cheap all inclusive tours to Thailand staying in quite nice hotels albeit ones that are out of the way, so you're stuck on a nice beach in the middle of nowhere. Thailand only understands one thing and that’s instant $. It was a little paradise in Asia , as was Bali, and look what happened there !!! It’s destruction and no infrastructure all stemming from greed. They can say what they like, it’s been spoilt, and there’s no going back to the old days . The world is changing fast, travel is more difficult due to rising expenses globally. I know an awful lot of people who have been to Thailand , some of them love it, some were disgusted and often disappointed. People tend to stay closer to home now , it’s cheaper, you have the western comfort and fixed prices. You have wonderful Italy , fantastic south of France, thousands of kms of coast line all around, Greece, Sicily, Capri, Sardinia, Spain , and all the culture and historical cities you could ever want. I’m sure most of the expats are fine with it all, they have their own homes and don’t usually use the tourist routes, myself I still come as I enjoy a nice condo and pool for a few months and to see my friends. But as a tourist one Thai holiday would be enough today. Too much else to enjoy.

You can’t compare yourself to the tourists that come for a week or two can you ? A family of 3 or 4 is common, and a lot of them over 60. I ve stood in that damned queue once about 5 years back after having to leave urgently for a funeral at home. It was near Xmas and it was awful, crying babies, older travelers, and I don’t think this is a good way to start your holidays. A long time since I sat in economy on a long haul, it was not comfortable and I wouldn’t again, it was a one off urgency. The baggage wait at the end is annoying. It’s not only the departure , the arrival in a country is your first welcome to thousands of passengers daily ! At the moment it is a horrendous experience for most, the queues and then the disorderly baggage belt. Why oh why do the suitcases take so long, I have often waited 20 to even 30 minutes ! And for those who say “ fly business “ , I can assure you I already do and it doesn’t make any difference to the belt wait . ( I fly Emirates and Swissair) . I go through Heathrow at least once a year and I have never had a wait . Even Bali where the airport is from an other era is very reasonable.The airport authorities should do a complete retrain of their staff, miserable lot and often downright rude , they should sort out their methods and their technology, for goodness sakes, get some experts on the job ! Stop with the nepotism and cronyism. It should be made illegal. ( don’t laugh).
