US national in mystery death fall from Nonthaburi building
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Are Thai balconies lower than western ones ?? Taking into account westerners are generally taller than Asians. Very strange. One does not hear much news of people falling from balconies accidentally. It’s either kids climbing on furniture ( beds etc in bedrooms) or criminal. -
I have no limit when it comes to comfy shoes or the best eye glasses. For clothes, I shop, look around , and if something really suits me I’ll buy it. But not designer prices, mid range. I hand wash my nice clothes and wool . Never machine. They last for years. But, jeans have to be my favorite brand, great fit , looks good. Tried many others, even the very high priced ones, they don’t fit as well. So it’s knowing what suits you and what you’re comfy in. Nice bermudas, clean t-shirt or shirt looks great for men or ladies. ( I hâte flip flops on dirty feet - ugh , or those who don’t wear deodorant, )

Closest land border from Phuket?
geisha replied to Leveraged's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I used to go to Penang and apply for another 60 day visa. Needs 2 days. I enjoy it there, nice hotel and great food. Lovely people. Otherwise it’s in and out to anywhere you can get the cheapest flight. I wouldn’t do a land border . -
What Would You Do If You Had More Money
geisha replied to KIngsofisaan's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
When I first came to Thailand in 84, I traveled everywhere, plus Hong Kong and Malaysia. Not a backpacker tho, we stayed in hotels and ate out. Later, when I returned every winter for 4/5 months after paying the condo etc and wanting to stay as long as I could , it was a very * reasonable * life under the coconut trees ,swimming and having wonderful Thai friends . Never had spare money for fancy ice-creams or wine or taxis, but I had the best time of my life . It’s nice having lots of money but doesn’t make you happier inside. ( ps, if I won the loto I would go around the world very very slowly !) -

Idea, if he was using Instagram maybe he’s sent photos to family and friends of where he is/ was ???? They will be recognizable. -
24 year old German Finnish speaking foreigner missing in Thailand
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think he means the boys friends at home in Finland. Yes, lots of questions, of course his mum is worried! But checking his banks at home/ card use etc is first stop. Hope he gets found alive and well. -
Visa exempt rules arriving by air
geisha replied to Jaggg88's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Why would the person need a visa for a weekend ? -
I don’t think’Rooster meant that in a derogatory way . I have often been called that for living in Wales , even though I was 6 miles from Swansea City.! It’s never hurt me.. And yes, of course you are mourning the loss of the Queen who loved Australia as all of us do who have had the privilege of visiting your beautiful country, and of course all the expats around the world ( myself) will be feeling her loss greatly.

Brit 'dumped' in Thailand after his flight home is cancelled
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Didn’t he think to hop on the airport fast link’ and go direct to the offices there ? I’m quite sure Scoot would have had another flight option. -
Hotel that will file TM30 recommendations?
geisha replied to JDangle's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes, for immigration etc a screenshot of their online declaration is good. A cheap hotel that follows all the rules is Ibis. If you’re in Pattaya there’s one opposite Terminal 21. Great pool too. When ever you stay somewhere new, at check in, ask for a screen shot straight away . They say no, leave. -
You cannot compare a taxi driver to a tuc tuc driver !!! Tuc drivers have a terrible reputation all over the tourist world. They are well known for rip offs and often violence in the nighttime areas of BKK, Phuket etc , where they prey on drunk tourists. ( men and women) . Some of these drunks do not get home in one piece.

Anyone been entering like its 2019?
geisha replied to at15's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I would definitely get tested ! First, I wouldn’t like to infect others if I was positive on the flight and arrival. Secondly, I’d prefer being ill , if ever, in my own country. And lastly, a negative test IS the law if you are not vaccinated ! Imagine having a check and they ask for it, or , someone is in a bad mood. -
Hua Hin is not that far from Bangkok airport !! Plenty options from Bangkok for a nice week away. Siem Reap Cambodia ( great without the crowds) Saigon or Hanoi. Singapore or KL. I did that often while staying in Hua Hin ! Plenty flights to choose from.

Foreigner Kills Two Teenage Girls In Songkhla Crash
geisha replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
Looks obvious to me. The car driver was looking left to pull out and didn’t see the bike coming from right. Looks like the bike was going quite fast . Awful. -
There are no reliable statistics and data to understand anything about road rage , inebriated, bad driving, nationality, age etc . What we do know is that Thailand is high up on the list of the most dangerous countries to drive in ! Fatal accidents all day everyday. It’s become the norm. Then one day it’s a foreigner and everyone goes ballistic. Until the government and police force do a crackdown on speed , confiscate the cars, heavy fines , ban children driving, cameras on every main road, have buses/ trucks under hard scrutiny, this massacre will go on forever.

Not necessarily intent if he was that drunk . Confused and drunk does not make for good driving. I know someone who smashed his car reversing into a wall when he was meaning to go forward. Still, no excuse, he will get what he deserves . Shame he wasn’t taken off the road before being “ habitually drunk”.
