I agree, but most would still not do the unannounced pop in.

i made the mistake of dating a non bar girl about 8 years ago when i first moved to pattaya. she came around on sunday morning to bring me some tshirts. there were 2 sets of womans shoes outside the door. heard her knock but gladly she left after a short while. later in the day she asked if i had a girl in my room. i replied 'not one' that was the end of that. win win.

If I ever moved to thailand Id have two pads…one where i took no one….and one for shagging...

ha. good plan. there are some excellent gentlemans clubs around pattaya. about 6 that i know of. there are normally 4 or 5 open at any time. cops seem to be fore ever closing them down but then they get to have a reopening party. rooms onsite and very reasonable prices.  i dont even tell the girls my name let alone where i live.

  3. was supposed to be the visa solution for those of us who want to winter over in thailand each year. great idea thailand, we love to come spend our money in a nice climate. but no it has turned out like a lot of things to be so complicated it is just a joke. why, why why wont they sort this out to help tourists and their own tourism industry?

  4. a lot of people here would rather follow their emotions rather than follow due process. due process is in place to protect us all. i agree with someone who posted that these public parading of suspects and crime re enactments needs to stop. stupid and dangerous. someone else said this is not australia and they are right. we have the same legal systems here however. innocent until proven guilty. again this is to protect us all.

Have to disagree with you there........if one of my family members was roughed up in custody by police for attacking a woman and children while armed with a gun then they would deserve it.........

and if the cops took it to far? or it was a case of mistaken identity and it was not your brother that committed the crime? its not the cops job to dish out justice its their job to catch the crims and hand them on to be prosecuted. it is a good system as long as everyone one sticks to doing  their part of the system.  i dont want any member of my family or anyone else roughed up by the cops, no matter what they have done.

  6. extremely unprofessional behavior by the cops. stupid parading of suspects before the press and allowing victims to attend is plain stupid. guy has not even been found guilty yet and therefore is still innocent. what if the family man had access to a firearm? we can not expect him to control his emotions, i probably would not either if this happened to me. the rest of us should control out emotions and handle things in a civilized manner. i love thailand but this sort of carry on is just plain ridiculous. the suspect should be suing the cops for lack of duty of care.

I'm pretty new to this forum, my wife and I are considering moving to Thailand next year - depending on life factors - but we'll end up there for a year or two at some point.

Anyway, to get to the point I notice a lot of the guys in this forum basically talk about their girlfriends and wives as if they're property.  It's kinda shocking to read, and really not all that surprising that a lot of you guys are pretty miserable.  Like how do you expect to have a halfway decent relationship with a person you don't even really consider to be a person?

i'm not sure if OP is trolling, but it doesn't really seem all that out of line with a lot of the other posts in here.

you cant really have a conventional relationship with a thai girl and most guys support their girls to keep them out of the bars, rice fields and factories. this ends up with a boss employee type of relationship where they guy screws around and expects his girl to not do the same. very very rarely works.

lots of fantastic replies so far. in fact i think i used up my weekly quota of likes on this one topic.

i would add put them on a fixed income and stick to it no matter who is dying or needs an operation. like someone said dont beat them, for some reason foreigners are not allowed to do that although it seems to work for the thais.

I think it is the other way around the army is made up of mostly Issan recruits. The police usually recruit locally. It helps with their "business" relations with local businessman. The number one requirement being you have to be able to recognize a brown envelope by its color. Color blind need not apply.

i had some problems that ended up with me being locked up in the na jomtien police cells. i managed to get out and a couple of the high up coppers actually became my customers. they got good discounts at my business so i did not make much money from them but i also did not end up in their cells again. i had quite a few discussions with them about the color they prefer and they all said red. this is why thaksin continued to hold a very high police ranking and why he was allowed bail despite being an extreme flight risk.

Refugees usually go back once there is no war anymore, or they become immigrants. The "breeding behaviour" of immigrants usually goes down to the level of their guestland after 1 or 2 generations. Consequently, they stabilize the population. This is exactly what a nation without children like Germany needs.

not sure about that.things in germany and france seem to be on a downward spiral. not sure if things can be maintained for another generation or 2.
