we need everyone playing baseball to be armed. this guy would have been stopped much sooner if everyone had a gun.

he is testing the waters. either to suspend elections for the foreseeable future or running them but keeping yingluck and other 'undesirable' politicians out of them.

i feel just as safe in thailand as i do in new zealand. just dont do anything that may get you involved with the cops, good advice for both countries actually.

I think the PM and Mdme TAT are working as a tag team (on yet another one of his hair-brained 20 year plans) to make Thailand a virtuous and wholesome country.
PM Prayut is in charge of soapy massages and lewd dancing while as you say the TAT lady is responsible for eliminating prostitution as well as making Pattaya a family fun holiday destination.
Obviously neither of them run the gauntlet of up-front hookers on the footpath between BKK Sukhumvit Soi 3 and Soi 7 any time of the day or night. That would be a good start point to clean the place up.
madam TAT, nice one.

I tend to agree. When you have tens of thousands of prostitutes working in a country where prostitution is illegal, focusing on a singers stage dress seems a little odd.
I wonder if the PM is concerned he is getting a hard on while watching, which he normally only gets while viewing military hardware?
he is wise and choose a battle he could (be seen to) win. remember when the TAT lady said she was going to get rid of prostitution in thailand? the good general would also just end up looking silly trying to fight that battle.

Why the urgency is there a threat of war or public disturbance ? it would have to be war would't it ?
elections are just (another) year away. they might come in handy when the reds find out ying luck is not allowed to run in them.

everyone quick to judge the litter bugs but of course some of the blame lies on the authorities for not having a good collection scheme. this cost money of course which no one will pay. so the cycle continues.
this is a well known problem, about time they cleared the waterways before the rainy season. not after.

I'm not sure Thailand is any more corrupt than most western countries
thailands corruption is to the point of being comical. try to live in thailand owing a business. the lawyers seem to have no morals or ethics so there is no accountability. people just do what ever they think they can buy their way out of.
who ever is on ying lucks team will be hassled and most people in thailand with money are guilty of corruption to some level. you should see the way my accountant does my taxes. basically anyone with money is guilty of fraud.

The requirements are simply too high and the amount of paperwork such as police check and insurance too bureaucratic. Te cost of a medical policy from a Thai insurer for anyone 50 or over with the required coverage amounts will be expensive and increase continuously as one ages. The outpatient requirement of 40K is absurd as most everyone would pay out of pocket when going to a provider for out patient care.
This Visa appeals only to a millionaire- who could care less about tying up 3 million Baht and the other costly insurance- for everyone else- it won't have any appeal. I doubt they will get 100 takers of the Visa per year. Very Similar to Permanent Residency- small number of takers- high cost with little real benefits.
think for those well off the elite visa is better than this one.

even worse than the multi entry tourist visa. you want to quit work and go to thailand for 6 months? oh you need to have a job to get the visa. cant see many people doing this visa either. if you want a good life in thailand you want to have as few as possible cash and assets there.

You must be concerned about the survival of the human species in the distant future, way beyond the lifespan of any of your family or anyone else currently living. Those things don't concern me. I would be more concerned about world wars and the spread of Islam than any of that. As you probably know, they are outbreeding local populations in many countries to a significant degree and will take over the world long before your atmosphere is depleted. I'd rather die of asphyxiation than live in a country governed by people who think nothing of blowing people up and removing heads. I saw some videos on Facebook several weeks back of some militants slicing and hacking some people's heads off with knives while they were still alive (Mindanao). They were smiling for the cameras while they did it. They were shocking in the extreme, and an indication of what people can do to people. Worrying about global warming is a side issue in a very evil world.
The world's average temperature has increased 0.85°C since 1880. I don't see that as any big deal. You should try to focus on more important matters.
long term survival is not an immediate concern, it is quality of life is. cancer rates are increasing at an alarming rate. i am sure is a direct result of the polluted environment we are living in. over 10 million people per year are dying of cancer now. far more people than are killed by islamic terrorists. you need to look past media scare mongering and focus on the real issues.

good, all the yanks cant travel there and ruin it.

i dont expect to see clean water at pattayas beaches in my lifetime. no reason not to collect some fines in the mean time of course.

wonder what the statute of limitations is on this crime. what happened to the 96 million US$ she was fined last year?

saving tigers in the wild is a lost cause. the only hope for their species is zoos. they would have a better chance if they were allowed to be farmed.

would have been cheaper for him to keep his mouth shut. not a good idea to upset the DSI regardless if you are innocent or not.

3 mill is not really worth doing anything with in thailand. property is a waste of time especially if you want to leave as it takes years to sell. whats your home country? new zealand is offering 3.7% bank deposit at the moment. that is a good deal, slightly more than inflation. better to get the cash back to your home country. might be tricky if you decide to leave in a hurry.

Really and what countries are you referring to? I can tell you that this does not occur in Australia. Your are responsible for coverage and the payment of the premium.
seems strange that any finance company would finance something that was not insured. i never financed a car in australia but i did lease one there and insurance was compulsory, paid monthly with the lease payments.

Because for whatever reason they couldn't make it there, either figutively or physically. Pattaya is the best city in the world, for me. Never a dull moment. I have more fun in a week than friends back home have in years.
agreed. good to hear someone being positive about the place.

some love it some hate it. not sure why the haters hate with such a passion. i was living on koh samui and due to pattays reputation had no desire to go there. then a job opportunity came up. i moved there and it is now my favorite place to live in thailand. i wonder how many haters judge pattaya without ever living there.

No it is actually factual.
It is your opinion that it is a great city to retire. Will I want to retire there, of course I would like to retire there being single, even if I wasn't single and married with a TG I would want to retire in 'Thailand'. There is nothing better than to kick the bucket in a city where any man can keep dreaming.
But denying facts just makes you delusional.
confusing. what facts?

who is going to say that all UPS drivers should be armed to stop this from happening again?

why should thais care? general will carry on down his own road with his own map which can be interpreted how ever he wants. is an odd move asking people for feedback via these questions.
