It used to be that the content in the US is broader and more current than the content you get in Thailand. I believe that's still the case. I switched to a Thai Netflix account because I was tired of the VPN companies trying to keep up with Netflix blocking when Netflix found the VPN IP addresses. The US Netflix content that is not on Thai Netflix can be found on BitTorrent sites.

Sorry, I don't remember but for sure it was not DHL because I've always had problems with them so I haven't used them in at least the past 15 years or so. For the past several years I've only used USPS but I don't remember exactly when I made that decision. With USPS, the most I've ever had to pay was 7% VAT.

I bought that test kit in 2020 from Amazon and had it shipped to a relative in the US. She then forwarded it to me in Chiang Rai without any problems.

I had to replace my Pirelli's at 42k kms and 2 years because 2 of the tires had small cracks on the inside sidewalls. One of the tires developed a slow leak and I immediately brought the car to B-Quik because it was next to the shopping mall we were going to. B-Quik could not find the problem until they removed all the tires and they then spotted small cracks in 2 of them. I would have expected better from 17.5k baht price per tire. I replaced all 4 with Michelins extra heavy duty and I assume they'll perform better.

When my wife transferred some property about a year ago, they asked her if she was married. She answered 'no' because she knew I would then have to come in and sign a document. (She kept her maiden name for exactly this reason.) The Land Office said: 'Really? Who's this person xxx, who you married in Bangkok on xx/xx/xx? Wife replied, 'Oh, I forgot.' I then was called in to sign....

Thai wife, US brokerage

Just a quick look implies that 5173 and 706-A do not apply, assuming you are a US citizen. https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/transfer-certificate-filing-requirements-for-the-estates-of-nonresidents-not-citizens-of-the-united-states Applicability The following transfer certificate filing requirements apply to the estate of a decedent who was neither a citizen nor a resident of the United States and who died after December 31, 1976. -
Thai wife, US brokerage

Are you using a US address on your Fidelity account? (Perhaps there may be restrictions if not; I don't know.) I would like to do the same as you're doing but I have listed a US address and am afraid to mess things up with my accounts. -

Years ago, I was able to list my wife as beneficiary on my Fidelity accounts without specifying a Social Security number or an ITIN. Maybe that's still the case and it's easy to do. -
Should I buy a touch screen notebook?
FarangRimPing replied to scorecard's topic in IT and Computers
I'm on my third Dell XPS 15, and all of them have had 4 K touchscreens. They've all been flawless. I like to replace them with newer models every five years or so. I mostly use the keyboard but the touchscreen comes in handy on various occasions, such as when I want to use a non-English keyboard. -
I've had Qatar business class flights that weren't Q-Suites and the seats were as good as the other carriers, if not better. For me, Q-Suites are a bonus, not a requirement.
-
Qatar is currently rated number 1 in the world overall and number 1 for business class. (from news reports but I am in a hurry to source) But Google AI reports: "Qatar Airways takes the No. 1 spot again after falling second behind Singapore Airlines last year. It's a familiar position for the airline, which also claimed top honors in 2022, 2021, and 2019. This year, Qatar Airways also won awards for the best business class cabin and lounge."

I recently used Qatar business class for a round trip from Bangkok to the US. Absolutely the best service and best equipment I've ever had, by far! Their Q-Suite is fantastic, better than any cubicle I've had before, on any airline. The Business Class lounge in Doha is huge! They have restaurants with waiters/waitresses who take your order. All free, of course. I couldn't recommend more highly.

FarangRimPing replied to HauptmannUK's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I just spent a month driving around the US using my Spotify Thai account. No issues at all. -
I installed the 24H2 version on 3 laptops as soon as it came out. Easy peasy. All running well with no issues. Playing with some of the new features. https://www.pcmag.com/news/whats-new-in-the-windows-11-2024-update

Where Do You Book Your Flights?
FarangRimPing replied to MangoKorat's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I use Google Flights, which displays many flight options depending on your criteria. I then pick one of the flights. It then displays the different prices for that exact flight from different sources. Sometimes, the flights are cheapest if they are direct from the airline; other times, they are not. Google Flights allows you to then choose the source of your ticket. For example, I recently decided on a particular round trip flight from Bangkok to Boston. Qatar Airways, based on price and total trip duration. The cheapest source for that exact trip was American Airlines, so I booked with them. I saved $2,000 ($1,000 per ticket x 2 tickets) by booking that trip through AA rather than Qatar directly! (I verified by going through the Qatar website and then canceling at the last stage.) -
Mobile Banking Alert
FarangRimPing replied to kidneyw's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I agree that this is the most likely reason. A year or so ago I turned on one of these accessibility enhancements on my Android phone and then my SCB app stopped working, with that error message displayed. I turned off that accessibility setting and the SCB app immediately worked again. -
Which is the best air conditioning brand out there?

Right, and if I remember correctly, you bought them at mid-night from a guy in a pick-up truck at the Big C in town. -

The very cheapest Diakins from 10 years ago are not comparable to a decent one bought today. I have 4 mid-range Diakin inverters from 5 years ago and they are on pretty much 24/7. Never yellowed. No maintenance other than cleaning once a year. (Too lazy to do it twice a year.) Flawless. -
retinal tear: solution laser 360 degrees circumference
FarangRimPing replied to Pouatchee's topic in Health and Medicine
Sorry, I wasn't clear and should have been more careful. When I said local, I meant the external numbing drops. (Google generated: 'Medicine applied externally to a particular part of the body; local: a topical anesthetic.') -
retinal tear: solution laser 360 degrees circumference
FarangRimPing replied to Pouatchee's topic in Health and Medicine
I had laser surgery to repair a tear about a month ago. The doctor wasn't sure that the procedure would be successful because there was a lot of blood in the vitreous. For me, it was not painful at all but it was very uncomfortable during the procedure because of the bright lights hitting my good eye. No pain afterward either. (I only had a local prior to the procedure but used no medication afterward.) It seems to have gone well. The blood is dissipating but I still have quite a ways to go.
