Security Guards and their whistles.
bkk6060 replied to Robert_Smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
There is a shopping/restaurant area in Chiang mai nice place to sit for lunch. But, two guards constantly blowing their whistles for what seems no reason only way to get thru it is wear noise canceled headphones. It is annoying and way over done. Yes, I believe some power trip in many cases unnecessary. -

Ostrich meat is really good and lean. I would have asked him to make some steaks. -
The full extent of corruption, fraud, and lack of accountability will probably never be discovered. Thailand seems honest and transparent compared to the disgusting U.S. fiasco.

Well, why not explain to obey the law and not park in the red or blocked off curb areas? All a good thing I think plenty of legal parking if a person looks for it.

Mob of Teens Beat up Driver in LA Third Time in Months
bkk6060 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Yes, that is a problem with a WOKE Liberal place like LA. If a person did defend themselves, especially with a firearm, they could well be prosecuted for several crimes. The entire system there is so screwed up. -
A lot of the unfriendliness comes from the lack of communication and English. Make a joke and they give you a quizzed look. This is the majority of the people in my experience here cuz most seem to speak little or no English. Also, deep down I don't think they like foreigners much. For several probably well deserved reasons. The LOS seems to be fading unfortunately.

Fed-Up Bangkok Locals Demand Action on Rowdy Foreign Renters
bkk6060 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
I think in some of these situations the Jurasic office or building managers are getting a kick back. Way too obvious what is happening and showing complicity with security assisting people with check in. Just so glad I never made the stupid mistake of buying a condo. -
U-Tapao Airport Scales Down Expansion Amid Rail Delays
bkk6060 replied to snoop1130's topic in Eastern Thailand News
Wasted resources. Same with Hua Hin airport which has only one flight to and from CNX. Never thought the rail would ever make it because the description of "high speed" is a concept way beyond the continued 3rd worldish thinking here. -

Foreign Takeover? Thailand's Hotels Face Investment Surge
bkk6060 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They are just figuring this out now. 555 Yes, they are buying entire floors or buildings. And I bet, no taxes are paid on any of the income they generate. Maybe focus on these cancers rather then expats and their pensions.- 6 replies

Pattaya Nightlife Comes Under Scrutiny Amid Noise Complaints
bkk6060 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Probably the people at The Base and The Edge. Stupid people who bought there in my opinion those bars have been there way before the condos were built. Any idiot who invested failed to go there at night to see if it was noisy? So excited about their 6 million b condo now they cannot sleep. Ah, too bad tough luck why penalize the bars? Dummies. -
Any recommendations for a decent residence hotel in Pattaya
bkk6060 replied to jaywalker2's topic in Pattaya
I know you said no Abnb, but for that price he can get something pretty nice in a good location. A hotel for a month here may well charge for electric and only clean the room once a week. More privacy I think in a newer condo also with a kitchen, frig, good internet, modern TV, etc. -

Thailand Faces Backlash Over Rise of Illegal Hotel Operations
bkk6060 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I certainly would not want it where I live. NiMBY: not in my back yard. But, I admit I do ST rentals. Can't blame people I stayed in new 1 br condo with 2 TVs, a great kitchen, pool, gym in Bangkok for 5 days a few weeks ago for 1/3 the price of a hotel. I usually don't complain, but hotel prices for a good hotel in Bangkok now seem outrageous. -

Judge Rules in Favor of Trump Administration’s Recall of USAID Workers

AIDS has been around for almost 50 years I bet most Africans are well aware of it. Yet, they still irresponsibly catch it and want other countries to pay for their poor judgement? Maybe Africa should solve their corruption and fraud issues probably more then enough left for their AIDS patients.
