  1. Here we go again... The dust hasn't settled from the BS during the 'forming' of the new government and Pheu Thai is already amending...
  2. We think the same on this. I had a flu shot 'many' (30+) years ago and it made me sick. I've not taken one since. (I got 3 shots of mRNA-based COVID-19 alleged vaccine and won't bother with those anymore either).
  3. The earth turned and my daily news is complete. (oh wait, I've one more article about a teacher and sexual assault)
  4. Over to the left, she would have seen some very nice 'hinges'. She would have only needed to pop the cap off the ends with the pliers (and hammer) and then use a slim screwdriver to force the pins out of each hinge. Someone on the other side would (probably) need to push the door open.
  5. "no p4p" means... Purina for Professionals or Pay for Performance? Give me a break, I've no clue what you're on about. Yes, he should be able to make it here on 60k/month baht. (not living on Sukhumvit or Sathorn areas) But then I've called Thailand home for 26 years and haven't been anyplace but Laos, Singapore, Malaysia and Cambodia for the past 5 years and that was for immigration purposes only.
  6. No kidding. They've already got one in office, but it's his minions who are pulling the strings. If they're in there for another 4 years you won't be able to touch your money unless you bow to every mandate they impose.
  7. Sounds like my kind of place. I wouldn't go for the punters (they might kick me in the balls).
  8. First glance I thought those trees in the 'background' was actually mold on the walls of the hospital room with the bed. TG I was wrong, but... Then I saw the BS about "climate change" I decided it probably was mold not trees.
  9. Yes, the cost for the extension at immigration is 1900 baht. To help you in future: My Non O ME Visa based on marriage to Thai from Savannakhet was issued in August of last year. I returned to Thailand the day after issuance, then extended that 90 day permit another 60, so I didn't actually leave Thailand until late January. I did a one day border bounce to Singapore on the day my permission to stay ended and received another 90 day stamp (to stay until late April). In April I extended that for 60 days until late June. I did another border bounce in mid-June, which gave me 90 days and would have taken past the expiration of the visa. I could have stay here and just extended that for 60 days, but I chose to leave Thailand the day before expiration to get a new 90 days stamp, which I ill extend for another 60 (so 17 months+).
  10. Not exactly correct. I left to do a 'border bounce' one day before my Non O expired and received another 90 days (that's out and in same day). I'll extend that for 60 days in November and go for a new Visa in Savannakhet in January. (The actual Visa expired in late August). (I may switch to a retirement Visa in 2025 if I'm still kicking the daisies and not dust (ashes) in the wind).
  11. Yes, and then apply for a 60 day extension to your final "Permit to Stay" to be able to stay a total of 514 days on a 1 year 365 day Visa. If you use your Visa correctly to it's fullest extent that's a little more than 17 months.
  12. Yes... Life is more interesting here. There are fewer people with pink &/or purple hair, fewer nose rings (especially the ones that hang on the columella (like on a cow)), the gays & trans people are 'mostly' not aggressive and the women are still women here. And the Thai's know what a woman is. (they seem to have a problem with that in the 1st world countries).
  13. I don't know when you were last there, but my wife's family lives in a village in Buriram. There weren't any "comfy" hotels near there when we got married or for the next 10 years, but there's a nice small one now. Things change. You've received some nice suggestions, but you might google for resorts or hotels closer to the village (if you know it by name or a mid size town near it).
  14. I've been using Swim-Ear for more than 20 years, even after I take a shower. When I don't use it, I get an infection within about a week (or two) in one of my ears. When I use it after shower or swimming, I never have a problem. (It's not available in Thailand except by ordering online. I bought 3 last time I ordered, which was a long time ago. Can't remember which company)
  15. I agree. Sadly, I don't go to Europe or the US anymore and the stores in Bangkok can't fit me... ???? (i'm not THAT big... US-XL, sometimes XXL)
  16. Vigo... I'm just going to stick my nose out a little on this. My guess is that you've got leaf springs. My experience tells me you're going to be riding rough. The smooth riding 4x4's have coil springs, but in Thailand those type vehicles get taxed at a higher rate making the vehicle much more expensive.
  17. And do not mention 'financials' in Savannakhet. They don't ask for them.
  18. She's 100% correct. Leave the pandas and chinese in China. Take care of the Thai elephants and support them.
  19. Everyone in my house (son, the primary carrier, wife, maid and I). Their sore throats all went to coughs and even a little fever. As soon as I got the sore throat I started sucking on 1000mg Vitamin C tablets and taking pseudoephedrine (to stop the nasal drip). I had some small urges to cough, but it did not develop as theirs did. Over about 30 days my symptoms came twice. The maid's came a couple of times, complete with coughing. My son and wife's coughs reduced a couple of time, but never went away completely until about 10 days ago. I bought medicines for my wife from MEGA pharmacy in Big C that seemed to help her. I don't know what she got for the maid or my son. (I know they used my stock of 15 pseudoephedrine pills and I had to go on my own to the doctor to get more. PIA).
  20. It might also be Freiberg’s disease, although, I don't remember a 'lot' of swelling. If your 2nd toe is longer than the big one, it should be considered. Best place to figure it out is your local orthopedic doctor.
  21. I enjoy listening to Dr. Peterson. He is practical and has a firm foundation of common sense. Another really good discussion he has on YouTube is with Russell Brand. I was amazed. I bought and read a portion of his book, "12 Rules for life". This brings me to my 'primary' comment. His book and some of his discussions are so 'cerebral'. What I mean is his work is spot on but it takes me a lot of time to listen and read, then reread his book and discussion. Even RUssell is unbelievably intellectual. BUT, 100%, Peterson is right. about woke culture. We should not be compelled to call a man a woman or a woman a man just because they 'feel' they're not the same as their biological sex. Compelled is the operative word. Even Peterson admitted when asked 'nicely' that he has no problem to call the person by their 'new' name. (but the theys, thems and zees, etc are not acceptable).
  22. So true... I just don't understand why the same offer is not extended to England, the Netherlands, Brazil, Guyana, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, France, US America or Canada (etc.)
