  1. Except for COVID, I've never been asked for any vaccination documentation. My old yellow colored vaccination record book was lost in 1997.
  2. Hard to listen to people who don't even know gases. (oxygen, methane, both volatile in the right setting).
  3. You are completely wrong. There is no "joint purchase" of a home & land in Thailand.
  4. No clue. I think the developer is looking for a payoff. I guaranteed my wifes home, build by a developer, but she signed for everything. Other than the promise that I would pay that was it. When she finished paying it off (with our money) at the bank, I was not included in any transfer meetings or signatures.
  5. wow... So many, "I think"s. I've no clue either, but the IO wasn't letting him out, end of story. Find a cheap flight or change border points.
  6. wow... Such cynical comments. I've learned over the years that 'demanding' and pushing just gets push back. If you try to force feed the Senate, the members will just bow up. The Deputy PM gave good advice and I'm quite sure that the Move Forward leaders already know this. He only commented to 'reassure' them to continue their pursuits in that direction (and of course to stay relevant).
  7. Drill baby, drill. Gas (and coal with advanced capture technology) are the best ways to reduce the cost for Thailand. Obviously with the low amount of natural resources in Thailand the '"renewable" energy technology will be needed, which means Thailand needs to get heavily into the business of manufacturing their own batteries and solar panels. There are places where wind turbines might be used economically, but I don't know the upcountry weather. Obviously, IMO, long term, Thailand needs to develop a nuclear power base. Thailand flooded the market with good Petroleum Engineers and technicians. They can and should shift their education to nuclear.
  8. What a discussion... I will not support the meat substitute industry. Grown in a lab, made out of plants, doesn't matter. It's processed food, which is not cost effective nor 'good' for the environment.
  9. I prefer the term, 'Lobo'. There are times that I was the leader of the pack and others when I was not. I prefer being a leader in operations, but work well with others and am comfortable 'alone'. I was never the vote getting popular kind of person.
  10. @ezzra I buy from koratchef.com I've been a customer for about 6-7 months. It's Thai beef, but he tenderizes it, plus he's got some higher priced cuts that he does not.
  11. @jonnit Interesting comments for you to consider. One that was not suggested; get a one year multi-entry Non-O based on marriage at Savannakeht. The requirements are basically the same as those for the 90 day (also not financial information is required). Your US marriage certificate is accepted without the problems that you will encounter at an immigration office. You will only need to leave the country every 90 days, which can be extended by 60 (with no financials) at Immigration. Considering that you are still travelling out of the country regularly this might be a better option. Also at those times when you do need to make a run to the border for a refreshing of your permit to stay, you don't have to worry about going to the consulate to get another tourist visa. One other caveat: if you'll make a border bounce near the end of the visa period, it's possible to use the 1 yr Non-O for 15 months stay using the 1 one year visa. By doing the above you can set up 'your' (and only your name) bank account here in Thailand. Make arrangements with WISE or your US bank to transfer baht 65,000 or more every month into that account for a year. Then, when you do decide that you want to settle down in Thailand and stay long term, then you can go apply for you Permit to Stay extension based on Retirement at your local Immigration office without having to transfer Baht800,000 and leaving it there for long periods of time. About your wife... I read some discussions that made a little sense above and some that did not. She needs to get her Thai passport before the end of her permit to stay (the Visa means little now, assuming it's a single entry). You are in Thailand and are able to stay here based only on the Permit to Stay stamp, which as you said was 90 days. You both can get extension to those stays at the Immigration office near you in Amnat Charoen. When (if) you go to Savannakhet to apply for another Visa, she will use the US passport to leave the country, but should come back using the Thai passport. Problem solved.
  12. Yep, I was thinking along these lines too. Good comment.
  13. Only his pelvis will tell. (Do tokay gecko's (aka Jing Jokos) have XY chromosomes?) HaHa ????
  14. Overall it's been a peaceful period in Thailand since 2014, but the 'professor's' comments and that of the article are nothing but a ridiculous statement of the obvious. I won't miss PM Prayut any more than I missed PM Shinawatra.
  15. KL and Singapore became so onerous years ago for Non O and tourist Visas that many people quit applying for them there. They made up silly requirements in an attempt to reduce the number of people applying. (because of my work, I use to use tourist visas, but that was a long time ago. Still the the avoidance by many of Singapore and KL still stands). Good luck. If you're planning to travel around, I don't know how you satisfy this requirement other than prepaying your first 40+ days and pay the accommodation with Agoda, Tripadvisor, Booking or Expedia. (That should qualify you for the 60 day tourist visa without complaint at the Embassy)
  16. I was doing fine just reading the comments and then you showed a pic. I spit out half my breakfast. (I've never had them, thankfully, but gee they give me the creeps).
  17. I know you meant that sarcastically, but confused and sadden at least 2 people. Be real, friend.
  18. I use to travel to the US and bring back vits and sups all the time. Last time 4-1/2 years ago I had almost a whole suitcase full. I got 'shook down by the gestapo TSA in the USA after checking in. They proceed by breaking the locks and dumping everything on the floor. They just throw things back in, tape up as willy nilly as possible and send the suitcase on. Thai customs never looked twice.
