  1. Yes, and then apply for a 60 day extension to your final "Permit to Stay" to be able to stay a total of 514 days on a 1 year 365 day Visa. If you use your Visa correctly to it's fullest extent that's a little more than 17 months.
  2. Yes... Life is more interesting here. There are fewer people with pink &/or purple hair, fewer nose rings (especially the ones that hang on the columella (like on a cow)), the gays & trans people are 'mostly' not aggressive and the women are still women here. And the Thai's know what a woman is. (they seem to have a problem with that in the 1st world countries).
  3. I don't know when you were last there, but my wife's family lives in a village in Buriram. There weren't any "comfy" hotels near there when we got married or for the next 10 years, but there's a nice small one now. Things change. You've received some nice suggestions, but you might google for resorts or hotels closer to the village (if you know it by name or a mid size town near it).
  4. I've been using Swim-Ear for more than 20 years, even after I take a shower. When I don't use it, I get an infection within about a week (or two) in one of my ears. When I use it after shower or swimming, I never have a problem. (It's not available in Thailand except by ordering online. I bought 3 last time I ordered, which was a long time ago. Can't remember which company)
  5. I agree. Sadly, I don't go to Europe or the US anymore and the stores in Bangkok can't fit me... ???? (i'm not THAT big... US-XL, sometimes XXL)
  6. Vigo... I'm just going to stick my nose out a little on this. My guess is that you've got leaf springs. My experience tells me you're going to be riding rough. The smooth riding 4x4's have coil springs, but in Thailand those type vehicles get taxed at a higher rate making the vehicle much more expensive.
  7. And do not mention 'financials' in Savannakhet. They don't ask for them.
  8. She's 100% correct. Leave the pandas and chinese in China. Take care of the Thai elephants and support them.
  9. Everyone in my house (son, the primary carrier, wife, maid and I). Their sore throats all went to coughs and even a little fever. As soon as I got the sore throat I started sucking on 1000mg Vitamin C tablets and taking pseudoephedrine (to stop the nasal drip). I had some small urges to cough, but it did not develop as theirs did. Over about 30 days my symptoms came twice. The maid's came a couple of times, complete with coughing. My son and wife's coughs reduced a couple of time, but never went away completely until about 10 days ago. I bought medicines for my wife from MEGA pharmacy in Big C that seemed to help her. I don't know what she got for the maid or my son. (I know they used my stock of 15 pseudoephedrine pills and I had to go on my own to the doctor to get more. PIA).
  10. It might also be Freiberg’s disease, although, I don't remember a 'lot' of swelling. If your 2nd toe is longer than the big one, it should be considered. Best place to figure it out is your local orthopedic doctor.
  11. I enjoy listening to Dr. Peterson. He is practical and has a firm foundation of common sense. Another really good discussion he has on YouTube is with Russell Brand. I was amazed. I bought and read a portion of his book, "12 Rules for life". This brings me to my 'primary' comment. His book and some of his discussions are so 'cerebral'. What I mean is his work is spot on but it takes me a lot of time to listen and read, then reread his book and discussion. Even RUssell is unbelievably intellectual. BUT, 100%, Peterson is right. about woke culture. We should not be compelled to call a man a woman or a woman a man just because they 'feel' they're not the same as their biological sex. Compelled is the operative word. Even Peterson admitted when asked 'nicely' that he has no problem to call the person by their 'new' name. (but the theys, thems and zees, etc are not acceptable).
  12. So true... I just don't understand why the same offer is not extended to England, the Netherlands, Brazil, Guyana, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, France, US America or Canada (etc.)
  13. You're obviously a young pup with no experience with the enlarged multi use drainage canal/sex organ.
  14. I've always like former PM Chuan Leekpai. He was steadily building the Thai economy back after the money crash in 1997. His governess was solid and back by good sound financial principles, but... it was too slow and Thaksin came in promising the moon... except for the people in the South. He only had a baseball bat for them. Yes, they were an impediment to progress in the South, but his bullies attacked rather than maneuvering around the lies of the NGOs who were filling the populous with horror stories.
  15. I wouldn't expect anything less. Not that it's right. That's just the way things work.
  16. Most of you know very little about the hard working honest Thai people. I've worked with them in the petroleum drilling and production business. They are very competent people and are more than capable of building, operating and maintaining a nuclear facility. I'm sure they will be at least, if not more, competent than the US Americans and Russians. (Three mile Island and Chernobyl come to mind).
  17. I don't follow manufacturing operations in Thailand. I know there are a number of Japanese (and other countries) companies who manufacture cars in Thailand. Does anyone know (and will respond with the answer), which companies manufacture motorcycles in Thailand. Thank You
  18. It is very sad event to lose one's son and at such a young age in those terrible circumstances. What's not mentioned in the article was Mr. Al Fayed's investment/adventure into the Petroleum business. He acquired 4 exploration concessions in the Gulf of Thailand in 1998/99 and commenced an exploration program mid 1999. On one of those concessions oil was discovered, which his team of managers, engineers, geologists and supervisors delineated over the remain year and 2000. The company was awarded a production/development concession, named the Jasmine field, in the years that followed. He sold it to Mubadala Oil Company, who have developed it into a wonderful asset in the GOT. I was lucky to be selected to work for Harrods in 1999 & 2000. I had the fortune of meet Mr. Al Fayed on a couple of occasions. He was a really nice, honest man and apparently had a Midas touch with his companies and investments. I am sad to hear he has passed away. Rest in Peace Mohamed.
  19. You're definitely not a 'goat' to make that statement and then have the audacity to go to the GoGo bars. What are they? Sheep?
  20. Feelings... Nothing more than feelings. Trying to forget my feelings of ... Suspicion.
