Final Plea: Defense Argues Daniel Penny Acted to Protect
Hanaguma replied to Social Media's topic in World News
A good result, given the swamp that New York has become. Should never have gotten to this point though. There were two failures here- failure of the New York government to get Jordan Neely off the streets and into care/incarceration, and the failure of prosecuting a young man for the crime of protecting women and children from a potentially deadly threat. -
Big surprise, a discussion about Trump's potential cabinet picks devolves into.......... a discussion about Trump himself! Who'd have thought...

Hey, she didn't get pregnant through immaculate conception. By your logic, shouldn't the prospective father ALSO be involved? No pregnancy without his 'input' after all.

Yes, and Canada elected a part-time high school drama teacher because he had a famous last name. ALmost every country does the same to one extent or another. Nothing to do with the pardon though. Just another example of Trump being a master of the real estate game- he is STILL living inside your head, rent-free, going on 8 years now. One problem with the pardon may be... and remember, I am not a lawyer. But now that Hunter has been pardoned, he can be compelled to testify before Congress. His Fifth Amendment protections may not apply because he cannot incriminate himself due to the pardon. So he can be grilled about any payments from foreign entities to various Biden family members, including himself. That may leave a lot of people feeling very uncomfortable...

I think a lot of people would have had sympathy for the pardon, IF.... Joe had just said something like, "he's my son and I don't want him to go to jail. Any father would do the same if he had the power". But he tried to put a laughable political spin on it. As if his very own justice department, run by his hand picked Secretary, was somehow out to get Hunter. Then there is the timing and wording. A full decade long free pass, which conveniently covers everything from the day Hunter joined Burisma. IMHO that is the real reason for the pardon. The gun/drug/tax charges are secondary. The potential political corruption and foreign influence peddling are the real issues.

Why do "little people" vote for their executioners?
Hanaguma replied to swissie's topic in Political Soapbox
You must be joking. Right wing fear mongering?!? Who was bleating on and on about Hitler and fascism and no more democracy for the entire election in the US? Then, who suddenly changed their tune and went back to business as usual and "congratulations to President Elect Trump" afterwards? It was all BS, designed purely for the election cycle. -
Trump the convicted felon gets off so why not Bidens son?
Hanaguma replied to advancebooking's topic in Political Soapbox
You are being pedantic, for the purpose of obscuring the larger issue. Let's stipulate that Trump is convicted. Fine. Now, focus on the differences with Hunter Biden. The pardon is for a decade of crime, both tried and not yet tried, both convicted and not yet convicted. This is rather rare- pardons are generally done for a specific crime or incident. It is not merely "getting off", it is a complete rewriting of history. The two situations are really not comparable. -
Ah, it has been a while since I had to write "b-b-but Trump!". It hits on the second post of the discussion. Biden shows his true colours. As recently as November 8, the answer about a pardon was "no". What changed since then... I guess the coast is clear now for Trump to pardon himself?

Denver's nut job mayor to head the resistance.
Hanaguma replied to Cryingdick's topic in Political Soapbox
What happens to the children of regular US citizens who break the law and are sent to prison? They are not the government's responsibility except in dire circumstances. -
Promise? Getting a leg over a harpy like the writer is probably not worth the effort. Probably spends the entire time whining and complaining. Only way to get pleasure would be to plant her face down on the pillow and think of her sister while you 'work'. She and her dude sound like empty nesters, so he could quite easily just say "sod this" and run for the hills. Who could blame him?

Here is an unintentionally hilarious essay written by a despondent leftist, who is cancelling her family's holiday plans because her husband (gasp) voted for Trump. Even worse, he is Hispanic! Here is a quick exerpt; The trouble started with her husband posting the following on Facebook; “God Bless America. God bless #45, 47.” He refused to take it down, which led to....... Later that night, I briefly glanced at my husband and found myself not wanting to look into the eyes I love. I hated this divide. I wanted to touch his forearms and feel our connection, but I also felt an urge to punish him and deny him my touch. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-voter-family-marriage-holidays_n_67321c1ce4b0231a203b1b80?d_id=8359829&ncid_tag=tweetlnkushpmg00000067&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter&utm_campaign=us_main

Maybe I am a bit out of touch, but I thought that the job of a union was to advocate for the wellbeing of the members. Issues of pay, safety, working conditions, that kind of thing. Why are they suddenly getting involved in political disputes happening thousands of miles away? Not their business IMHO.

Yeah, it is kinda strange that this is only a one-way issue. Trans-women want to compete in womens's sports. Yet there are few/no examples of trans-men demanding to compete in mens' sports. Similarly, men are not up in arms or feeling unsafe if trans-men use their bathrooms or locker facilities. This leads me to believe that in the vast majority of cases, this is a psychological issue rather than a physiological one. So it should be treated as such- with therapy, not with sterilization and mutilation and amputation of perfectly healthy body parts.

Kamala Harris' Post-Election Message To Her Supporters

True. Very much looking like "the morning after the night before" in this clip. Minus the kind soft lights, the makeup, and the coaching. Dodged a bullet, my cousins to the south! -
Buyers remorse , 1.5 Billion spent on Harris Campaign…
Hanaguma replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
To me, the funniest thing is that there has been a Go Fund Me campaign started, to raise money for all the Harris/Democrat staff who have been laid off due to the debt incurred by the campaign. Even funnier is that, as of this morning, there has been a grand total of $17,000 donated. Seems like the Democrats closed their collective purse rather tightly after the loss! Compare that to the $6.6 MILLION raised by the GOP for the victims of the Trump assassination attempt in Butler, PA. Shows where the actual compassionate people are... -
The '50-50 Race' Pre-Election Polls Were Phony
Hanaguma replied to rwilem's topic in Political Soapbox
You could also look back at 2020 and say the same thing; WI 49.4/ 48.8 GA 49.5/ 49.2 AZ 49.4/ 49.0 PA 50.0/ 48.8 All razor thin wins for Biden. But wins nonetheless and they made Biden the winner. Time to stop obsessing over the numbers and deal with reality.
