Disney is scrapping plans for a new $1 billion Florida campus
Bkk Brian replied to Scott's topic in World News
GOP senators unsettled by DeSantis’s escalating fight with Disney “This is the biggest or second-biggest employer in the state. Half the tourism that comes to our state comes to visit Disney. It’s a reason people come to our state. After they come there, people move there. So I think cooler heads need to prevail. My view is we have to do everything to help our businesses grow,” Scott said in an interview. Sen. Marco Rubio (R), who has represented Florida in the Senate since 2011, told Fox News last month it’s “problematic” if state actions toward an individual or business appear driven more by politics. https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/4012889-gop-senators-unsettled-by-desantiss-escalating-fight-with-disney/ -
Disney is scrapping plans for a new $1 billion Florida campus

Where is the link to the claim the Disney CEO already hated the planned move? Considering 200 odd employees had already relocated to Florida? Great news for the California Governor however. A win for him. So the plans to invest $17 billion in Florida, and create 13,000 jobs, over the next 10 years now also not looking so good. The way things are going. -

Russia’s Latest Sanctions on U.S. Officials Turn to Trump Enemies
Bkk Brian replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
Well who would have guessed it. Putin has banned Letitia James, Brad Raffensperger and the cop Michael Byrd who shot the rioter at Captiol Hill. What sort of threat do they pose to the dictator Putin...........lol Even Barack Obama is on the list. -
Here's a good example of where just one true MAGA and their cult beliefs can cause a mistrial. The danger of picking the wrong person was vividly illustrated in a recent federal trial of Timothy Shea, who was charged with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from an organization that had raised money to build the border wall that Mr. Trump had campaigned on. The federal judge presiding over that case declared a mistrial after one juror out of 12 refused to deliberate, accusing the others of being “liberals” and referring to the proceedings as a “government witch hunt.” Mr. Shea was convicted on Friday after a second trial. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/31/nyregion/trump-organization-trial-jury.html

It’s Not Enough for Ukraine to Win. Russia Has to Lose.
Bkk Brian replied to onthedarkside's topic in The War in Ukraine
Of course you can bow to Putin's threats, just as he planned, or you can act as one, as the west and Ukraine are doing. Call out those threats for what they are. Its very naive of you to believe that if we give in to nuclear blackmail, Putin will back off. "Russia will not stop. Russia will keep on going and will deploy nuclear threats in the hope of securing further concessions. Other nuclear countries will take note, and non-nuclear countries will rush to get a nuclear weapon so that their sovereignty won’t be threatened. In short, if we give in to Putin’s threats, we will be living with nuclear threats and nuclear proliferation for a very long time." https://www.thedailybeast.com/marie-yovanovitch-playing-the-nuclear-card-is-putins-version-of-flop-sweat -

It may be easier than that. All the Russian money and assets that has already been frozen by the EU and the West will go a long way. -

Tell that to the Ukrainians who are fighting for their country and will not stop until Russia has lost. That's when the negotiations will happen. Putin's failed attempt at threatening tactical nukes on Ukraine has back fired. He was counting on the west and Ukraine to back down. Ukraine has already got back 50% of the territory Russia took over a year ago. -
Ooops another story that FOX ran with and had to admit it wasn't true. Laura Ingraham Has ‘No Clue’ Why Vets Group Made Up Story Fox Ran Wild With Offering up a “little update” on Friday night, Fox News host Laura Ingraham admitted that the story of homeless vets being displaced by migrants was a hoax, adding that she had “no clue” why a group would make up a story her network stoked days of outrage over. A week after the New York Post reported the sensational tale of 20 “struggling homeless veterans” getting booted from upstate New York hotels to make room for asylum-seeking migrants, the story completely fell apart. In reality, Sharon Toney-Finch, the CEO of a veterans’ advocacy organization, had concocted the tall tale and apparently even recruited men from a homeless shelter to pose as the displaced vets for the media. https://www.yahoo.com/news/laura-ingraham-no-clue-why-152355395.html

Scraping the barrel now then.......lol Claims made in a John Solomon book, the politcal commentator who was removed from the Hill for his discredited opinion pieces and dropped from Fox news for his paid contributions. Where is this make believe memo that Trump wrote to declassify all the docs? Did he also declassify the documents relating to nuclear weapons or Iran's missile program or even the U.S. intelligence work aimed at China? Try harder is my advice to you..................

Disney is scrapping plans for a new $1 billion Florida campus
Bkk Brian replied to Scott's topic in World News
Nobody from Disney is moving away from Florida, all DeSantis has achieved is lose an extra workforce of 2,000 Disney employees many of which were going to be re located from California and others needed to be recruited. All white collar jobs. Oh and of course the sum of nearly $1 billion investment and all the other local jobs it would have created. Yea stick to your guns Ron, way to go......lol -
Statement from the White House, couldn't have put it better myself, the crazy witch. “Is there a bigger example of a shameless sideshow political stunt than a trolling impeachment attack by one of the most extreme MAGA members in Congress over ‘national security’ while she actively demands to defund the FBI and even said she ‘would’ve been armed’ and ‘would have won’ the January 6 insurrection if only she’d been in charge of it?” Ian Sams, the White House spokesperson for oversight and investigations, said in a statement.

Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
Bkk Brian replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
Interesting, it is possible to assume that Patriot air defense missile was involved in recent string of air crashes in the Bryansk region. Defense officials and congressional staffers told CNN that Ukrainian troops have in recent weeks used the US-made Patriot air defense system to shoot down at least one faraway Russian fighter jet. The Russian jets have largely been staying behind Russian defensive lines, making them difficult for Ukraine to target with shorter-range systems like NASAMs. The Russian planes the Patriot targeted were on a bombing run to fire missiles against Ukrainian targets, US officials said, which Russia has been doing throughout the past year to maximize civilian casualties. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/18/politics/us-allies-f-16-jets-ukraine/index.html -
Perhaps you need to read my post again then. The juries are picked based on representing a cross section of the community. Regardless of race, gender, national origin, age, or political affiliation. That's plain enough right? Its also the law. So if you believe in this system then the same should also be applied to the judges, that's what the OP study is advocating. https://www.uscourts.gov/services-forms/jury-service/learn-about-jury-service "Judicial diversity is key to ensuring the legitimacy and efficacy of our court system. A diverse bench leads to increased public confidence in the courts and richer judicial deliberations. However, many state supreme court benches fail to reflect the diversity of the populations they serve." Black, Latino, Asian American, Native American and multiracial people make up 40% of the US population. So surely in those 18 states where it is all white judges there should be some attempt at diversity to reflect what that particular state is. This is what I am saying, its not like there is a shortage of excellent qualified people from those backgrounds.

Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
Bkk Brian replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
Good news, the damage was not serious but worrying that they managed to get its location for the strike. US officials say damage to Patriot missile defense system was minimal following Russian attack near Kyiv The damage to a Patriot air defense system following a Russian missile attack near Kyiv on Tuesday morning is minimal, three US officials tell CNN, with one official describing it as “minor” damage. The US sent inspectors to examine the system on Tuesday after being told by Ukrainian forces that the system appeared to have been damaged, one official said. The system itself is still operational, the officials said, and the radar component of the Patriot, one of its most important elements, was not damaged. US officials do not believe the Patriot will need to be removed from the battlefield for repairs. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/16/politics/patriot-missile-damage-ukraine/index.html
