Is the online form in English only, or several languages.? I have looked at and it seems to be omly in English I have a friend who is French, cannot speak English apart from hello and goodbye, when he goes to immigration he always takes someone who can help him, if needed. I would imagine Russians and Chinese having problems???

Yes, indeed. It was called affirmative action, but that morphed into DEI, which is by definition racist. Thankfully President Trump has put that into the history books in the US it’s been significantly curtailed in federal agencies and many Republican-led states, especially in public education and government! That needs to be implemented in the UK, but alas it looks like the opposite is happening!

"A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police responded to the criticism, stating: “The most recent census found that 23 per cent of people in West Yorkshire identified as being from an ethnic minority background. Our current police officer representation from ethnic minority backgrounds is around nine per cent. To address this under-representation, we use Positive Action under the Equality Act 2010.” So this is using DEI to fill quotas, which is racist..??

Thai Court Halts Nescafé Production and Imports Amidst Dispute
mikeymike100 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Chalermchai Mahagitsiri filed a lawsuit against Nestlé and its directors, resulting in the 3 April ruling by the Min Buri Civil Court without hearing Nestlé's side. Nonetheless, Nestlé states they respect and will comply with the law. Seems strange that the court didn't hear both sides? could money be involved??- 33 replies

" with Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative minister for women and equalities, describing her treatment as “completely crazy”. Badenoch added, “She has my full support. It’s time the Government pulls its finger out and intervenes to make it clear no one should be punished at work for stating biological reality to paedophiles.” Badenoch is absolutely correct to say this, what on Earth has the NHS come to???? Surely the NHS out of anyone should understand basic biology??

Based on the Supreme Court decisions reported as of April 9, 2025, the court’s been siding with Trump’s administration in most of the high-profile cases tied to his policies this month. Trump v. J.G.G. (April 7, 2025): 5-4 ruling lets Trump deport alleged Venezuelan gang members under the Alien Enemies Act. The conservative bloc (Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Barrett) held it together, overriding liberal dissent (Sotomayor, Kagan, Jackson, with Roberts splitting off). Clear win for Trump’s immigration push. Department of Education v. California (April 4, 2025): 5-4 again, staying a lower court order so Trump could axe $65 million in DEI-related education grants. Same conservative five prevailed, with Roberts dissenting alongside the liberals. Another Trump policy upheld. Federal Employee Firings (April 8, 2025): Unsigned order, likely 5-4 or 6-3 (no breakdown given), blocked a judge’s ruling, letting Trump’s February 2025 firing of 16,000 probationary federal workers stand. Assumes the conservative majority flexed, backing his executive control over the workforce.

Russell Brand criminally charged with rape...
mikeymike100 replied to FriscoKid's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
You obviously do not understand how jurisprudence works in the UK. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. English law demands the Crown Prosecution Service prove sexual assault beyond reasonable doubt—Brand’s innocent until May 2, 2025, or later if convicted. No bail issues; he’s free in Florida unless extradited. But 20-year-old allegations strain it—memory’s shaky, physical evidence is gone. The CPS still has to build a case, not Brand. -

That's the 'kicker'? No they can't, as there will be no physical evidence like DNA, no forensic evidence after 20 years, it will be a he said she said? After 20 years memory gets shaky, even if they can pin him at a location where the woman was, and even if they had sex, he will say consensual. The prosecution has to prove, he is guilty, beyond reasonable doubt. -

I detest the guy, I think he is a creep, but I also find that it very odd that these alleged offenses happened a long time ago, in cases over 20 years. 1999-2005. Why didnt these women complain then? There won't be any physical evidence, DNA etc just years old accounts, pretty sure his defense will hammer this! Are the women looking for a payday, now he is 'famous'???? -

Wouldn't that determination be up to a judge and jury???? Due process?? -
Absolute garbage. The stock market hasn't crashed, as you put it, like a 20% drop in a single day, or week! Certainly the market has taken a beating, but this was to be expected! Countries are already starting to negotiate. Canada, after hitting back with 25% tariffs on $107 billion in U.S. goods, is now at the table, per its industry ministry on April 4. Mexico, despite initial outrage, signaled talks after a 30-day tariff pause in March. India’s been negotiating since February—offering to cut tariffs on $23 billion in U.S. imports—aiming for a $500 billion trade deal by 2030. The EU’s trade chief is meeting U.S. officials today, April 5, balancing talks with $23 billion in planned countermeasures. Italy’s opting for no retaliation, Israel’s dropped all tariffs, and Argentina’s pushing to go zero-tariff, per posts on X and Reuters reports. Even China, after its 34% counter-tariff on U.S. goods (effective April 10), is reportedly engaging, though it’s also tightening rare earth exports. Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, and Ireland have voiced readiness to negotiate too, per statements from their leaders and ministries since April 3. The U.S. stock drop—S&P 500 down 12% from February—shows the pressure’s real, and countries are moving fast to cut deals or offset losses.

Kudos to the the woman, Turner, for doing this! If this happens every time a biological man wants to compete in women's sports, the sooner the ludicrous practice will die a death!

"Finance guru Bill Ackman offered some stern advice to world leaders reeling from US President Donald Trump's tariffs amid fears of a global trade war. In a post on X Thursday night, the CEO of Pershing Square urged world leaders to quickly strike a deal with the president as the tariffs - which range from 10 percent to upward of 50 percent - shook global markets. 'My advice to foreign leaders is that if you have not already reached out to President [Trump], you need to do so immediately,' he wrote. 'Trump is, at his core, a dealmaker who sees the world as a series of transactions,' Ackman continued, characterizing the commander-in-chief as a 'tough but fair negotiator. 'He loves to make deals and he loves to get things done promptly.' Ackman also said that he suspects the president will 'reward the early dealmakers with fairer deals than those that wait to sit down at the negotiating table." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/yourmoney/article-14570511/Bill-Ackman-advice-world-leaders-Trump-tariffs.html

UK Fails to Act on US Offer to Extradite Andrew Tate
mikeymike100 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Exactly....Seems the UK have their priorities wrong..again! -
I did see hear Trump mention that about replacing taxes with tariffs, but Congress holds primary authority over taxation, and while Trump can impose some tariffs unilaterally via laws like the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a full shift away from income taxes would require legislative approval—something even many Republicans might resist due to deficit concerns. So to say "You're wrong" is ludicrous, at this stage. Smaller economies like Vietnam (46%) or India (26%) might have no choice, than to negotiate? The U.S. is a huge market for them—Vietnam sends 30% of its exports there—and they lack the clout to sustain a prolonged fight. They’re more likely to negotiate, especially if Trump’s team targets their surpluses. Trump may offer real concessions, which he’s hinted at with lines like “I may give a lot of countries breaks.” Japan, with a 24% tariff, is leaning toward negotiation over retaliation, likely due to its U.S. security alliance. The pattern so far: countries negotiate when the U.S. has leverage (market access, security ties) and the cost of defiance outweighs the pain of compliance.

President Trump is doing what he said he would do, it shouldn't be a big surprise. What will probably happen is the relevant countries will negotiate some kind of deal that will benefit both parties.
