"Finance guru Bill Ackman offered some stern advice to world leaders reeling from US President Donald Trump's tariffs amid fears of a global trade war. In a post on X Thursday night, the CEO of Pershing Square urged world leaders to quickly strike a deal with the president as the tariffs - which range from 10 percent to upward of 50 percent - shook global markets. 'My advice to foreign leaders is that if you have not already reached out to President [Trump], you need to do so immediately,' he wrote. 'Trump is, at his core, a dealmaker who sees the world as a series of transactions,' Ackman continued, characterizing the commander-in-chief as a 'tough but fair negotiator. 'He loves to make deals and he loves to get things done promptly.' Ackman also said that he suspects the president will 'reward the early dealmakers with fairer deals than those that wait to sit down at the negotiating table." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/yourmoney/article-14570511/Bill-Ackman-advice-world-leaders-Trump-tariffs.html

UK Fails to Act on US Offer to Extradite Andrew Tate

Exactly....Seems the UK have their priorities wrong..again! -
I did see hear Trump mention that about replacing taxes with tariffs, but Congress holds primary authority over taxation, and while Trump can impose some tariffs unilaterally via laws like the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a full shift away from income taxes would require legislative approval—something even many Republicans might resist due to deficit concerns. So to say "You're wrong" is ludicrous, at this stage. Smaller economies like Vietnam (46%) or India (26%) might have no choice, than to negotiate? The U.S. is a huge market for them—Vietnam sends 30% of its exports there—and they lack the clout to sustain a prolonged fight. They’re more likely to negotiate, especially if Trump’s team targets their surpluses. Trump may offer real concessions, which he’s hinted at with lines like “I may give a lot of countries breaks.” Japan, with a 24% tariff, is leaning toward negotiation over retaliation, likely due to its U.S. security alliance. The pattern so far: countries negotiate when the U.S. has leverage (market access, security ties) and the cost of defiance outweighs the pain of compliance.

President Trump is doing what he said he would do, it shouldn't be a big surprise. What will probably happen is the relevant countries will negotiate some kind of deal that will benefit both parties.

". Consider a four-year-old child suspended from nursery for alleged “abuse against sexual orientation and gender identity,” at an age when many children still identify more as dinosaurs than people" The above sentence says it all...Total madness...WHEN AND WHERE WILL IT STOP? The UK’s logged over 124,000 hate crimes from 2020-2021, many tied to online speech, and police have chased down "non-crime hate incidents" like Harry Miller’s 2019 transphobic tweet saga—ruled unlawful later, but still a hassle. Then there’s the Public Order Bill and buffer zones around abortion clinics, where even silent prayer’s landed folks like Isabel Vaughan-Spruce in cuffs...............

Quake Jolts Thai Tourism: Rising Concerns Over Safety
mikeymike100 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes indeed, if there are any more quakes or aftershocks, its going to be a very quiet low season in Thailand. Watching that half constructed building collapse, in Bangkok was shocking, how many more have been built to the same low 'standard'? -
Six coppers were sent, so this must have been ordered at Inspector level or above! After a five-week investigation, Hertfordshire Police concluded there was insufficient evidence, and no charges were filed. So they sue the police for false arrest and probably assault and false imprisonment! Under UK law, specifically the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE), police must have reasonable suspicion to arrest without a warrant. No threats, physical altercations, or immediate danger were reported—just criticisms that upset school staff! This once again is the government showing their true colors! No pun intended!

Thailand may bounce back, but may take more than a few weeks. Especially if there are more quakes or aftershocks. -

Clinton sounds off about donald stupidity
mikeymike100 replied to 3NUMBAS's topic in Political Soapbox
Clearly the woman is delusional, what she is saying is that Trump is stupid, and she lost to him, so what does that make here???..... The fact this op ed is in the Guardian, and the NY Times speaks volumes! She wrote...."In a dangerous and complex world, it’s not enough to be strong. You must also be smart. As secretary of state during the Obama administration, I argued for smart power, integrating the hard power of our military with the soft power of our diplomacy, development assistance, economic might and cultural influence,” I am sure the 4 Americans that died in Benghazi disaster, would be happy to hear that -
"With no arrests made so far and the attacks continuing across England, authorities remain focused on uncovering the full extent of the suspected gang conflict and bringing those responsible to justice" So in other words the police can't be bothered, as nobody wrote hurtful words on social media???😉

It seem the UK is determined to give foreigners more 'rights' than the 'British', not just this insane idea, but there are other ludicrous initiatives, like giving foreigners more lenient sentences than locals. The use of pre-sentence reports (PSRs) to provide judges with detailed information about an offender’s background, including factors like ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or personal circumstances. The goal is to address disparities in sentencing outcomes, particularly for ethnic minorities. This initiative gives a certain demographic an excuse to commit crime?

Maxine Waters Targets Melania Trump in Fiery Speech
mikeymike100 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
You are not being accurate with your comment, in fact its false! His reference was to illegal aliens, or more euphemistically undocumented ones! "deplores the poisoned blood of foreigners destroying the US"—doesn’t match any direct quote from Trump!!! -
Absolutely, there are more terrorists associated with Islamic groups than any other religious sect globally. Research from sources like the Global Terrorism Database and reports from Fondapol indicate that Islamist terrorist organizations, such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, and the Taliban, etc, account for a significant majority of terrorist attacks and fatalities worldwide. For instance, Fondapol’s analysis from 1979 to April 2024 documented at least 48,035 Islamist terrorist attacks, resulting in over 210,138 deaths, with these groups responsible for a disproportionate share of global terrorism victims—over 80% according to some estimates. The Global Terrorism Index also consistently highlights that the deadliest terrorist groups in recent years are predominantly Islamist, with groups like ISIS and Boko Haram leading in attack frequency and lethality!!!
