Thaksin denies role in appointment of Phichit as PM’s Office minister
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Even the blind faithful will know this is BS in their hearts they just won't say it but ok not 100% as such. No need to be picky or nasty though as I'm sure the gist of my post is understood. -

I've been told that the BMA are having a big meeting tomorrow, May 28, to discuss the possible closure of schools. I truly hope this madness does not occur. -

Thailand Set to Recriminalise Cannabis Amid Expert Outcry
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm sad that some dope smokers act this way. When I smoke a cig in public I'm very conscious of not annoying others. Dope smokers should be the same. Sadly society now is all about ME. As for asthma dope is very good for that. On the other hand having a place selling food next to people smoking dope might very well be a bit of a bonus. It's true dope does give you the munchies. -

Sorry but this means nothing. Yes, people have problems and yes heavy dope use may not help those people who may or may not have a variety of social and mental issues but basically what you've posted is just anecdotal evidence. There are millions of people you smoke dope that don't have problems just like there are millions of people who consume alcohol who don't have problems. Maybe 10's or 100's of millions who don't have a problem with either drug. Perspective is what's needed and this certainly doesn't seem to be the case. -

Well you posted the cons but oddly failed to post the postives so here they are from the same article. Positive Effects Since ancient times, marijuana has been taken for its medicinal and euphoric effects. We know that it has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect, which can help with pain relief. Its other medical uses include reducing nausea for cancer patients on chemotherapy and possible relief for those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), multiple sclerosis (MS), glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, and some forms of epilepsy. There is even some early research by neuroscientist Gary Wenk suggesting that marijuana could help prevent memory loss in aging by reducing inflammation in the brain. Some of my psychiatric patients used it to treat their insomnia, anxiety, and depression with varying success; in some, it actually exacerbated their condition. Additionally, marijuana has been known to “expand consciousness,” leading to an enhanced appreciation of the simple pleasures in life (listening to music, enjoying good food, and being out in nature). Marijuana use has increased by 75 percent in the over-65 population in just the last three years. Many of these people had used pot in the 60s or 70s and are now seeking help with chronic medical conditions and the anxiety that comes along with aging. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/collaborative-care-and-psychiatry/202112/marijuanas-mental-health-pros-and-cons -

Obviously completely off topic but I wonder if anyone has any ideas. I'm only on this page through view all notifications button. I haven't been able to access the forum since yesterday. I sent a message yesterday. This is what I'm seeing. Again oviously I can still post and react but only on this page. -

Good idea. All drugs should be decrimilised. This is very forward thinking of you. Yes I do realize your context is "anti" but you obviously support drug bosses and imprisonment. I don't. Recriminalisation WILL benefit the drug bosses and corrupt officials and WILL lead to increased prison populations. -

I guess you don't drink alcohol to ecxess then. Not good for the old brain cells that. Nothing wrong with that choice (unless you do drink excessively) but what makes you think smoking a joint is going to make you lose your sanity. If anything it might help you keep it. Sure helps me when this missus is in one of her moods. A beer and a joint and I'm nice an relaxed. An absolute positive for my mental health. -

Not far off of a century of propaganda now. Sadly people are not encouraged to think for themselves or completely lack this ability. A recent term (I think) and one I like very much is to describe these people as sheeple. Very apt indeed. Of course religion also plays a large role in this. As I said in a previous thread about the "....support of nearly 76% of Thais according to a recent NIDA poll..." how many of these will be against everything? We all know the type, religious nutters. How many have absolutelely no idea about the facts and only listen to and believe the propaganda and narrative? What this poll also showed was 25% of responents do not want it recriminalised. 1/4 as opposed to 3/4 and of those 3/4 most would not have a clue. Just go by what they're told and believe what they're told. The sheeple. Last 4 yrs has been an excellent example. -

This is 100% conjecture. When you can demonstrate the % of youth (whatever age that is) are frequenting the dope shops then your comments will have some varacity. As it stands they don't. -

Seems you didn't see the word apparently or you don't understand what it means. @sungod did not say "I'm a stoner as I use cannabis." Can you see the difference or is your morning imbibing session affecting your senses? -

Doctor's opinions about something else being safe and effictive has been proven to be incorrect. As for the above article there's no reference to any independant data so it's only blind faith and believing what you're told that makes you take it as truth. Critical thinking is a very important human trait. -

You don't need to use any reference at all. I don't say "the alcoholic's typical response ....." and it's nothing at all like the term farang. If it was then all people who drink are alcoholics and all people that smoke dope are drugs addicts. Rediculous comparison. -

Thailand Set to Recriminalise Cannabis Amid Expert Outcry
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Undoubtedly the overuse or abuse of dope can have deleterious effects and although you try and keep this on the anti-dope narrative you cannot deny that this also applies to alchohol, tabacco, ice and yaba. The point you are missing is that this applies to a small % of users. Recreational use is what it says. Recreational. Not abuse. Yep there are people with SUD (Substance Use Disorder) with the severest form being addiction but again this applies to all drugs and not to everyone that uses drugs. All tortoises are turtles but not all turtles are tortoises i.e. all drug addicts are drug users but not all drug users are drug addicts. p.s. As for being a stoner why the personal attacks on people you don't know? Do you drink alcohol and if so can I call you an alcoholic?- 170 replies

You know for a fact that "Thailand's youth" are abusing dope do you or is this just an opinion? As for youth what age would this be? Bear in mind that "Thailand's youth" are also using alcohol, tobacco, ice and yaba. Of course your generalist statement is nonsense. Yes, there is drug abuse but I'll bet the majority of abuse or casual consumption will primarily be alcohol and tabacco. You don't need to be an "expert" to work this one out.- 170 replies

I would very much like to see actual evidence of this claim supported by independent scientific proofs. This is just more of the demonising rhetoric to support the govts. (aka Thaksin) push to recriminalise.- 170 replies
