So some random guy on a YouTube channels comments says it's against the law for Thai women married to non-Thai nationals to buy land, even if it's in her own name. Cites the "Thai land code". If this was true obviously we would all know about it long ago and presumably at least one land office in the country would refuse to issue deeds but of course this never seems to happen. I'm just curious now though, does anyone know where this is coming from? I suspect it's some old law which has gone unenforced in 50 years and hasn't been updated.

There are so many punk kids in Thailand it's actually quite shocking. Their lowlife loser parents let them cruise around on motorbikes without mufflers at any speed they want and terrorize people. If there were any adults in the room all these kids would have their bikes confiscated and the parents fined.

Yesterday. AQI meters maxed out at 500 in Samoeng. Multiple raging forest fires. Smoke so thick in the morning it's like fog. City feels clean in comparison. 😂

fair enough but I'm not jumping through more hoops for these people that constantly disregard their own laws and make ridiculous proposals that fall apart when they try to actually implement them. If I need to file forms I'll do that but not until the forms are presented to me personally.

that's what I think but governments are greedy and shameless. If you think they can take your money they will because they view it as their right. I pay taxes in the US on my income and I won't be paying Thailand anything until immigration gets involved and presents a clear procedure and states penalties for not complying. I'm waiting because this may never happen, like so many other things.

Look at what this guy did. He's a total dick too and insists he did no wrong. Not only does he build his shop right up to the street and over the public sidewalk but uses the electric pole as part of the support structure. I see encroachment on public land all the time in Thailand but this is so insane even the normally docile Thai authorities won't let it stand.

that's totally unreasonable. Before they ask the question they better have sold all their property and done everything they can. If the mom owns a nice house and car yet still wants your help then she's taking advantage.

I've given my wife about 170,000 over the years for your previous debts because the bank called and threatened court. It's makes me angry as hell and make sure to make a big fight out of it so she knows I'm not ok with it. Paying her parents debts is a bridge too far though. If it came to that I think I would just move away for a while and let her decide if it's worth a divorce or not.

seriously how many gay men want to get married? They can just log in to grinder and get sex no questions asked. With women it's not so easy and for most of history marriage was required for sex at all. As far as I can tell this driven by activists for their own personal clout.

The most reasonable compromise was civil unions (which cover the legal details and leave the original definition alone) but this was of course rejected because it's not really about they say it is. Marriage requires a women to be involved. The whole point of marriage is to solve a tension between men and women with the goal of raising families. Never once was it about nothing but "love" like the boomer liberals decided it was. Once you take the women out of the picture it's no longer marriage, full stop. I don't care what two men do with each other but it can never be marriage.

It's not gays complaining it's a specific social class of people that push this stuff relentlessly. In the US it from gay marriage to full blown trans mania is like 5 years. Thailand probably makes it illegal for trans to enter women's bathrooms so expect them to start attacking this angle next. Thailand is sadly not well versed enough in America politics to know where this goes but they're opening a can of worms on themselves.

Bread and circuses, same as in the West. Gay marriage is a tiny issue (% of the population which is gay + the % of gays which will ever marry) that pales in comparison to other serious problems. Giving the urban liberals gay marriage and weed shuts them up for a while.

100% this. Mass tourism annoys everyone. No way to have a peaceful life with the locals if you're in one of those zones. If you feel unwanted maybe it's time considering moving to an area without tourism.
