Near miss today (runaway truck)
NorthernRyland replied to simon43's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Close call! The trucks are even more insane in Laos than Thailand I'm presuming. -

Balcony collapses at Chiang Mai resort injuring 13
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
They were indeed posing for a photo. That's why they went out on the balcony. -
Scroll through the video to see the point which it collapses taking down the entire group. Some of the older women broke some legs and had head trauma. Only a 1 story fall but still nasty. If you get far enough in you can see where the bolts detached from the building. No way that thing was suited for more than a few people but I doubt any engineers reviewed it. Be safe out there.

Thai emission laws transform: What drivers need to know
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Pretty sure in the US if they catch you with a car obviously failing emissions they'll check your registration and find out you didn't actually pass the checks within the last year and get you that way. -
Thai emission laws transform: What drivers need to know
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No, here's what you need to know. Authorities will do nothing to enforce the law and nothing will change. Prepare yourself accordingly.- 69 replies

Thai Airways sues over passenger’s flight diversion criticism
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Being serious I don't understand why an international airline would be so petty. Who cares what some random passenger says? In regards to regulations if it's rando-guy with a Facebook account vs an Airline I'm going to believe to the Airline did what was required to them. Taking legal action against him makes them look so frekin' petty it's hard to fathom. In fact it makes them look guilty now and maybe the guy was right after all. I can very vaguely remember having these feelings but I must have grown out of it by the time I was 10 or so. This is so embarrassing for a company run by adults to behave this way. -

so you want to be able to punish people who say things that hurt your feelings. Just like a little boy. That's everyone's point about what a fragile ego is. This is exactly what we're talking about. -
Boundary wall.
NorthernRyland replied to IvorBiggun2's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
two people said this already. Are you thinking of un-deeded agricultural land? If the land is measured and registered with the land office then you have a legal right to it. If they build something on your land and it goes uncontested for some number of years then yes you'll have a problem as I understand, but not if you register a complaint immediately and have it resolved. -
Car Blocking the Entrance to my House.

You said there another problem with another person. Maybe it's the same household? If there are multiple homes giving you problems that's a really bad sign. -
Car Blocking the Entrance to my House.

This whole area you are living seems to be filled with low life bottom dwellers. If you can move to a place with better people that would be a good idea. -

They know better for sure but they don't care. Now it's your problem and what are you gonna do about it is what they're thinking. This is Thailand and they know 99% of the time people just hang their heads low and say nothing. The fact they didn't even ask you first shows they have no respect for you and your property. -

I would lose it on my wife she did this. I've never hit a women but god help me if this happens to me. If there's one thing that I hate about Thailand it's that they can't solve basic problems with communication. It's like living with children that were raised without parents and taught how to interact with others. I mean seriously, his car is blocking your house and it's unreadable to ask him to move it because he's a cop? That's such nonsense. No offense to your wife I know many Thai people think like this. -

Neighbor is trash for sure. He did that to save money not building his own wall and imposed the costs and potential damage on the OP. Total scum bag loser. -
Boundary wall.
NorthernRyland replied to IvorBiggun2's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
In theory not if the land is deeded properly. If you're really worried about backwards villagers encroaching then you can even put up little posts on the boundary to remind them but still build the actual wall within your land. -

NorthernRyland replied to IvorBiggun2's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
As noted before this could be solved by not having your wall on the actual boundary. Was your wall inset within your property? Just curious since I'm never thought about these kinds of problems before and what could happen. -
Teen dies in Bangkok after motorcycle chase ends in horror crash
NorthernRyland replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Thai police will let any driver of any age drive at any speed at any time. Consequences be damned. Worse than useless they are. -
That's besides the point. It's pleasant to enjoy a peaceful morning and listen to birds without some moron kids playing their boom-boom music. Ignoring bad behavior is the reason the problem is so bad here in the first place.

If it were 100 years we would have put the law down on those people but society doesn't seem to have the self confidence anymore to tell people how to behave. I expect this stuff from Thai people since they're generally oblivious to the considerations of others but it's really disappointing how the USA is backsliding in the same direction as Thailand.
