Our four Jack Russell Terriers small as they are will attack anyone who comes in that they don’t know or we call them off. No training but two attack from the front two from the back. If that fails I have an old English Police truncheon someone gave me years ago. Never needed so far.

Does TL have compulsory vaccination for new borns?
StevieAus replied to MlLAN's topic in Health and Medicine
I think what he is talking about is the document the hospital issues that you take to the Amphur. Obviously not too smart if he will not have the child vaccinated. I suspect that the kids wearing leg braces I remember seeing as a child would have appreciated if a Polio vaccine had been available. -
Double Vaxxed And Caught Covid: Anyone Else?

The old saying “ A fool and his money are easily parted” springs to mind. If he is so paranoid about Asia why live here? -
Rescue workers try to save hundreds of pigs from drowning in flood water
StevieAus replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
I suspect that most pig farmers don’t have too much experience with the science of Meteorology, as from what I have seen over the years do those employed by the Thai weather bureau, or in fact in my home country Australia. -
Bureaucracy, Thailand Versus UK
StevieAus replied to Brewster67's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I can only speak about the Bangkok Bank and their system is more bureaucratic than anything I have experienced, however nothing like the poster describes but the service is excellent. If you want to see how well they can do things in Thailand go with a Thai when they renew their passport. We have renewed our daughter’s passport twice in Chiang Mai. All documents are scanned into their system, they take the photos and the new passport was delivered by EMS three days later. The cost was substantially less than both her Australian and UK passports. -
Thailand targets $26 billion in local tourism revenue next year
StevieAus replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I note that the article is from Reuters and not sure whether they have a representative in Thailand. If the article is based on announcements made by TAT no more needs to be said. -

Yes I did note your words and my crystal ball is probably no better than yours ! -
Thailand to introduce 500 baht tourist entry fee from Jan 1st
StevieAus replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I was only being facetious towards the poster, compared to most countries most things here are still pretty cheap, there are continual complaints on this site yet they never leave to return to their utopian homeland, I am happy and will be remaining. -
Thailand to introduce 500 baht tourist entry fee from Jan 1st

That’s been the case in Manchester for a couple of years and something similar in Sydney where I am from for probably 15 years both drop off and pick up. -
Full force of the law to be used against Khon Kaen masseuse rapist
StevieAus replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
While I might agree with such a punishment especially when the crime is against children according to the experts incarceration and physical punishment doesn’t always work as a deterrent with some offenders. In relation to the former you have only to look at the number of reoffending by rapists, pedophiles and some murderers. It seems that some offenders are so sick that they cannot be reformed yet they are released to continue their crimes. I was reading yesterday of one of a gang of Arab rapists who committed some horrendous rapes against young women in Sydney some years ago who has been released on parole. For me in some cases there is only one solution but the bleeding hearts club in our society will not allow it. -

In which countries is that punishment applied, where similar or worse crimes are committed particularly against children? -

I like your optimism but I think Covid will be here for a long time the new Flu. -
Thailand to introduce 500 baht tourist entry fee from Jan 1st
StevieAus replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I agree the wine is more expensive because of the tax but not the beef I buy Australia Rib Eye or tenderloin I think they call it it’s on a par or cheaper than Australia and certainly a lot cheaper than any steak bought in the UK -

Hospitals to Receive Partial Moderna Vaccine Delivery
StevieAus replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
You must be well behind if you haven’t had the first and second shots. I and many expats friends have had there first and second AZ shots. Maybe use the Moderna as booster. -
Udon police arrest Swiss expat who killed armed intruder at his home
StevieAus replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
You really think the people you refer to follow local news in Thailand? If you were worried about crime you wouldn’t visit any country Have a look what happens in London any night of the week, the police admit the armed gangs are out of control. -
What will my wife get after I'm gone? UK work pension.
StevieAus replied to IvorBiggun2's topic in Home Country Forum
Thanks, women in Australia have their own pensions too also it seems more rights than men. My question arose out ofUK men receiving a State Pension married to a Thai who obviously could never have paid into the system My Thai wife is lucky she gets 100% of mine if I die but it’s time limited. Wonder sometimes if I should eat the food she cooks great as it is !!!! -
Antigen tests kits can now be sold in shops and online
StevieAus replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Totally agree with all of the above. I look at what’s happening in my own country Australia young antivaxers fighting with the police. I am old enough to remember kids at school recovering from polio wearing iron braces on their legs. I am sure they would have loved access to a vaccine. There are sad and stupid people around. -

StevieAus replied to IvorBiggun2's topic in Home Country Forum
As a matter of interest, if you are receiving a UK State Pension into which presumably you contributed, does your wife continue to receive any of that after you die, Or are they just as hardline as the Australian Government, if such a thing is possible. -
I receive bank interest and In ten years I have never filed one and have never received a fine. I have a expat friend who is on a low budget, files one and gets the tax refunded. We have a small motel and a block of ten apartments in my wife’s name she didn’t register and got a small fine. Each year she now goes to the office with with the accounts and pays no tax.

I always thought the primary reason for having a vaccine of any type was to protect yourself whether it was influenza, Hepatitis or whatever, pre Covid I never recall infecting others being discussed as it is now. -
Thai Court rejects dual pricing case from expat in Hua Hin
StevieAus replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
The reality is that the majority of those you quote above will probably never see the inside of a government hospital. For those who are foolish enough to travel here or in fact to any other country without travel insure they deserve to pay.
