Be careful about using the 2 passports for the 1 trip. Remember that when you depart Thailand on a passport your exit stamp goes in that passport and when you arrive at your destination and produce a different passport that does not have your exit stamp from the country you have departed from there could be problems at your arriving country because your passport is supposed to be used for a single trip and not changed between departure of one country and arrival into another country. Also as things are with this Covid many countries are not receiving people from certain other countries. I know Australia is not receiving anyone from Thailand at the moment.

My Thai wife and our daughter have departed Thailand using their Thai passports and entered other countries including Australia and the UK using their Australian passports then

re entered Thailand using their Thai passports, numerous times times over recent years.

If they didn’t they would require visas for the other countries.

And what particular homework exercise do you suggest he could have engaged in to help him foresee a global pandemic and the entire shutdown of life as we know it.

There are so many posts in this thread treating this as a typical "found out partying every day through retirement wasn't all it's cracked up to be" situation. I suspect some posters have been typing the same responses in threads for so many years that they probably have some muscle memory kicking in and making them write it before engaging their brains.

This poor guy hasn't had the chance to become disillusioned by marrying bar girls, losing his lot, building up again and looping round a few times doing it all over again.

We have no way of telling if his life would have followed that path or not. He may have spent a few months doing the bar thing the moved on to other interests. But even if he would have done the bar loop, that's more preferable to being stuck in a city that's locked down where you know nobody and have no opportunity to make new friends. At least there'd have been things happening in his life.

Being in a similar boat, having moved to Pattaya in April, leaving friends behind in Bangkok, and suffering the lonliness as a consequence (and yes... I am usually happy with my own company but there's a limit!) I have every sympathy for the poor guy in the OP's story.

Perhaps visiting places other than Pattaya would have been a start and for the record it’s the first time in about ten years I have posted on the subject.

I will immediately stand in the naughty boys corner for daring to post a contrary view.

  3. I suspect this gentleman like many others didn’t do his homework before deciding to move to Thailand and perhaps made his decision based on holiday experiences only.

Living in Thailand isn't for everyone as can be said for many countries including Australia.

I have lived here for ten years with my Thai wife and daughter and am very happy and have no wish to return to Sydney.

Compared with Australia and in particular my home city the Covid restrictions here are minimal and our lifestyle has barely been affected.

Plenty of instances of 50mph limits being increased to 60mph in the UK where the reduced speed proved ineffective in reducing accidents but very good at creating bunching. Does that make the UK 'among the most dangerous' ? because the records seem to show it is next only to Sweden for safety.

Speed is rarely the only cause of a crash (if it were, no motor race would ever finish). Lack of attention and inability to control the vehicle properly is far more prevalent.

Plus if you add to your list that most drivers here are not properly trained to drive the vehicle and the driving test is a farce.

ability to treat 300 patients a weeks is a serious help when we have now over 20k daily (over 140k weekly) positives.

This antiviral, as well as all intivirals, suppose to be administered immediately on diagnosis. There is no point waiting for virus to multiply and develop serious state and still wait 4 days after that situation. Too late.

Call yourself now Joke Academy and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Ignorance.

Why no scale up production 100 000 times and give it to everybody in small doses as preventative? And export it all over the world and finance buying more sinopharm?

As scientists they fail to be creative, imaginative and brave in this dramatic situation. They just thread what they were accustomed through their lives - utter passivity

If you read the article he is referring to children and patients with swallowing difficulties.

There are not 20k of those per day.

That's if you buy local food , if you buy Western food the cost in Thailand is 4-10 times more expensive than in the U.K

If you are talking about imported western food it’s bound to be more expensive based on transport customs clearance etc etc etc

I did this to the UK a couple of weeks ago.  These tickets don't include lounge access or any hold luggage, however if you're Oneworld Sapphire or above you'll get these through your status.

A350 is good but Finnair seats are not the best I've come across.  It's still Business Class though so can't really complain.  The flight to the UK looks to be on an Embraer 190 which is not real Business Class, but they (should) block the seat next to you.  Plenty food and drink offered on both flights.

They're not daily flights to MAN so check they don't try to take you via Heathrow or somewhere if you're looking at a day they don't operate or the timing is wrong.

Biggest danger IMO is Thailand going onto the red list.

I have looked at these flights for this sector in the past and as you say from Helsinki to Manchester it’s a small aircraft.

Leaving that aside my concern was always the short  connection time in Helsinki with the potential to delay you for 24 hours or more.

I have never travelled Business class on any airline and had to pay extra for luggage.

Civil rights also incur civil obligations.  An individual should behave in such a manner that they do not endanger other people's civil rights of a healthy life.

There are several fundamental differences between people in a bar and people in a supermarket -

    1. Trips to a supermarket are essential to purchase food to sustain life.
    2. People in a supermarket do not need to remove a mask to engage in their shopping activities, people drinking in a bar do!
    3. People in a supermarket are unlikely to be drunk and forget the need to wash their hands after physical contact with a bunch of strangers.
    4. Groups of people in a bar tend to socialise in close proximity with no mask and increase the chances of infection.

You forgot the important one,  people generally don’t remain in a supermarket for as long as they do in a bar, which I suspect is what this is all about.

  9. If you care to read the explanatory leaflet that comes with vaccines and most medications

you will find that there are potential side effects and reactions, but it doesn’t mean they affect every user and usual the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

I had my last pneumonia shot about eighteen months ago and the reactions I experienced were more severe that from the AZ I had recently but were consistent with what was listed.

At this stage there is no compulsion to be vaccinated so if fearful abstain.

Please let the forum know which hiso private hospital you got vaccine for yourself and your family.

My comments were in relation to medical and hospital treatment in general.

If you cared to keep yourself abreast of what is happening rather than making ill informed comments you would be aware that vaccines  for Covid are not available through private hospitals unless you want Sinovac which I understand are being administered on behalf of the government.

I obtained my AZ vaccine as did several expat friends from our “ hi so” government hospital in Northern Chiang Province as did hundreds of Thais in the same age group.

The family have to wait as they are too young.

As long as they are cheap labor from Cambodia and Burma working in the factories of the ruling elite, they will take care they don't drop dead.

The only reason that these people are working in the factories and elsewhere is because the Thais don’t want to do the work.

I live in the North of Chiang Mai Province and the people from Burma will not work for low rates, nor should they, if you want them you have to pay a decent rate of pay.
