Man with a gun entered another mans house

Owner beats him to death...where is the problem?

Who cares what dead man's mother claims he may or may not have had cash wise? That he previously "had" 300k baht does not mean  a thing in this story. This story is centered around an armed intrusion into another mans home period.

Bottom line any intruder found with a gun in my house at night will be found there in the morning (albeit motionless)

Side Show: This Thai man was supposedly having an affair with the Swiss mans wife....Now he shows up after midnight with a gun in the Swiss mans house? Guess what the plan actually was at that point?

Now dead Thai man's mother makes a claim the dead man had 300k baht & what?? Udon Police visit Swiss man why? They think maybe he set it all up? Had Thai man appear at his home with gun & 300k so Swiss could rob him? Amazing Thailand

In relation to your fourth paragraph, I suspect therefore we be reading a similar article to this one, minus of course any reference to extramarital affairs or missing money.

There are very few dogs that will all out attack an intruder if not trained to do it.

Most dogs will bark, out of fear or out of anger,a fearful dog will usually make a lot more sound.

Intruders do not like dogs because barking dogs will alert the owners.

We have two dogs, the soi dog makes a lot of noise but will never bite.

The second one does not bark a lot but she will bite.

Imo if someone enters your home uninvited you can certainly use force to remove them

or stop them from attacking you.

Shooting them once or twice could be considered self defense, emptying a whole clip

into the person can be considered murder.

You are only allowed enough force to stop the intruder.

Over here it would also help if you are connected.

Our four Jack Russell Terriers small as they are will attack anyone who comes in that they don’t know or we call them off.

No training but two attack from the front two from the back.

If that fails I have an old English Police truncheon someone gave me years ago.

    Never needed so far.

Birth certificate is issued by the Amphur Office, it's nothing to do with the hospital.

I think what he is talking about is the document the hospital issues that you take to the Amphur.

Obviously not too smart if he will not have the child vaccinated.

I suspect that the kids wearing leg braces I remember seeing as a child would have appreciated if  a Polio vaccine had been available.

  4. I can only speak about the Bangkok Bank and their system is more bureaucratic than anything I have experienced, however nothing like the poster describes but the service is excellent.

If you want to see how well they can do things in Thailand go with a Thai when they renew their passport.

We have renewed our daughter’s passport twice in Chiang Mai.

All documents are scanned into their system, they take the photos and the new passport was delivered by EMS three days later.

The cost was substantially less than both her Australian and UK passports.

I disagree....    these issues exist and repeatedly occur because they are not handled correctly and firmly without compromise.

ALL dogs should have a collar identifying the owner responsible.

IF a dog does not have a collar, it doesn’t have an owner - it is taken away and euthanised.

IF a dog does have a collar but is on the streets, the owners are fined. IF the owners refuse the fine, it is taken away an euthanised.

Additionally, any dogs which are considered dangerous breeds need to be licensed. IF they are not licensed and kept on a secure compound where they can’t escape they should be removed and....

The problem now exists because it wasn’t handled properly before.

My Brother in law had a stray cat at the back of his restaurant. He didn’t want to ‘deal with it’.

The stray got pregnant, then he had to deal with 8 kittens and a Cat, pi$$ing and shi#ing everywhere, the smell would enter his restaurant. He had no choice but to ‘deal with’ 9 lives (no pun) rather than just the one at the very beginning. But, all he did was take them and dump them in Lumpini where they are someone else’s problem (or Lizard food !).

I want to see responsible pet ownership - there are way too many animals in Thailand that have a miserable life because people don’t care to deal with the issues surrounding them.

Some will argue Buddhism comes into it, but I don’t think so. Buddhism is just used as an excuse not to do something about the issue - as soon as the issue potentially costs people money those same ‘Buddhist values’ will disappear very quickly.

Probably most on this site would agree with what you say and it’s what occurs in most Western countries.

The difficulty is having it enacted and I certainly don’t have the answer.

In no countries, but it would be much better if it was used. Even sick people would stop and think before they continue.

While I might agree with such a punishment especially when the crime is against children according to the experts incarceration and physical punishment doesn’t always work as a deterrent with some offenders.

In relation to the former you have only to look at the number of reoffending by rapists, pedophiles and some murderers.

It seems that some offenders are so sick that they cannot be reformed yet they are released to continue their crimes.

I was reading yesterday of one of a gang of Arab rapists who committed some horrendous rapes against young women in Sydney some years ago who has been released on parole.

For me in some cases there is only one solution but the bleeding hearts club in our society will not allow it.

No are not reading the news, but still comment! That´s really silly. If you followed the story it has been standing that he confessed. How is that for a proof?

If it was up to me, he should be hung up in his little pecker and hurt until he starves to death.

In which countries is that punishment applied, where similar or worse crimes are committed particularly against children?

Sure you can get Thai food cheaper here than in Europe or in the states, but in what restaurant can you order a quality bottle of wine and a decent Angus beef steak to a price lower than in Europe?

I agree the wine is more expensive because of the tax but not the beef I buy Australia Rib Eye or tenderloin I think they call it it’s on a par or cheaper than Australia and certainly a lot cheaper than any steak bought in the UK

I hope they have factored in that it is not all needed at once anyway due to the time spacing between first and second jabs.

Also, many who have ordered it have been able to get vaccinated with a good vaccine while waiting for this over the last 5 months, like me.

I'm planning to transfer 2 of mine to my daughter if it is available soon, but she has to make arrangements to fly here from elsewhere in Thailand in order to get it. If it is not available soon, I have others that want them. You can only transfer one time.

Let's get started with the first doses as soon as possible from the partial shipment, and give us some appointment dates.

You must be well behind if you haven’t had the first and second shots.

I and many expats friends have had there first and second AZ shots.

Maybe use the Moderna as booster.

There's plenty wrong with tax avoidance. Mainly that it's only reserved for the elites of this crappy planet. I was almost put in jail for daring to have an measly few kilos of gold outside of Australia (all declared) whilst being a permanent expat!

Think it's BS? Ask a good overseas tax accountant. I lost a lot of my super unwinding that at prices lower than I bought, to avoid becoming a criminal fugitive.

My super is still in Australia returning good rates tax free 17.5% for half of it 34% for the other half last year.

The Fund and Government know I’m here.

Maybe your overseas  accountant is not that good.

If this Swiss man is charged with any offence at all, the Thais can kiss goodbye to attracting the high rolling Foreign people that they are so desperately seeking.

The potential 1 Million or so Digital Nomads Etc Etc Etc, will just say " <deleted> that, if I cannot defend myself , and what is mine, without prosecution."

You really think the people you refer to follow local news in Thailand?
If you were worried about crime you wouldn’t visit any country

Have a look what happens in London any night of the week, the police admit the armed gangs are out of control.

I think there was a new regulation regarding bank interest last year. Every account holder must make sure your tax-ID is connected to your bank accounts. Every bank must report interest paid on every account to the revenue department.
Interest below 20.000 bath are exempted from tax, but banks are imposed to withhold  15% tax on interest. If your account is connected to your tax ID you can claim that tax back (before I think you just got a document from the bank and used that to claim back).

If you pay tax to Thailand you can in no 90/91 claim interest back, or take it as part of your total tax if the interest is below 20.000 bath.
I read this on Sherrings early in 2021. If it is confusing what I have read, you should look up Sherrings on the net.

Thanks for the information I will follow it up.

I don't think so. Women have to make contributions to their own State pension. Women in the UK have equality ????

Thanks, women in Australia have their own pensions too also it seems more rights than men.

My question arose out ofUK men receiving a State Pension married to a Thai who obviously could never have paid into the system

My Thai wife is lucky she gets 100% of mine if I die but it’s time limited.

Wonder sometimes if I should eat the food she cooks great as it is !!!!

in the USA, up to 80,000 die each year from the flu. maybe down to 60,000. i think the main thing about the flu is it dies out in the summer. Also, the world does not seem to care about all these deaths. USA provides vaccines good for the year but not enough get the shots. even if they did, the flu seems to come back each year. CDC in USA seems they like huge funds from the gov but does not do much is my opinion. Covid is not going to stop unless people stop from getting it. each person is responsible to prevent themselves from getting the virus. A person who gets it, in some cases, (not all)  has failed society...again, in some cases. they have kept it going. nothing will stop it. not even the summer months. We have to stop it  or the deaths will continue.

Totally agree with all of the above.

I look at what’s happening in my own country Australia young antivaxers fighting with the police.

I am old enough to remember kids at school recovering from polio wearing iron braces on their legs.

I am sure they would have loved access to a vaccine.

There are sad and stupid people around.
