    Wow, just wow.

Anyone else wants to put their life into Thai healthcare?

They can't even get the blood pressure right before you see a "specialist".

You must be going to the wrong place for treatment.

In the years that I have lived in Thailand the treatment myself and my family have received has been excellent especially through the private system.

Not sure you understand how forums work!

I think there are many on this forum and perhaps you as well who take the view that all comments have to be critical and that a balanced view is not allowed.

From some of the posts I read about many different subjects one would think that that Thailand is hell and the rest of the world Utopia.

We know that Thailand has handled the situation appallingly but it has been far from perfect elsewhere.

I take my own country Australia where despite having sufficient vaccines the handling of the Covid situation has been disgraceful and that’s in an advanced developed country.

I often wonder why if people are so critical of everything in Thailand they want to live here.

It's not same thing at all.

In any event it's off topic.

This topic was about vaccination for Australian citizens. Stick to topic.

Did you obtain one on Sunday?

    A report would be useful.

Being a Director and Company Secretary of a very successful Australian Industry Fund for nineteen years, what would I know?

Subject closed as far as I am concerned.

Its sad to say, but here we are, 2100 curfew till 0400, with possibilities  of step accountability,  other parameters are please stay home ... two things really need to happen, and I just dont know why its not been done.  At least a three week, stay at home dont come out, with the military  in fulL PPE keeping people at home, that would also stop the border crossing. And vaccinating,  and not just here, this needs global cooperation.   It sounds harsh, it sound traumatic,  but I bet if you ask a child what they feel would stop this global crisis,  they might say its the only way.  Unfortunately  its the scene  from science fiction,  but thats the way to stop it.  People just cant be trusted to do the right thing.

As a 71 year old it’s a long long time since I went out between 2100- 0400 for any type of socializing or entertainment.

In fact the last time I went out between those hours was to take my daughter to hospital which would be allowed under the current restrictions.

Maybe one of the advantages of growing older perhaps.i

Several posts above show lack of understanding of the word Pension.

In Oz it refers to "old age pension".

This is not the case in UK or USA for example. I'm not from those countries but their use of the word Pension is completely different from AU.

In Oz we have superannuation. That is an amount that is taken out of your pre tax income. Currently think it's 9%. The government in turn matches that.

That is what many Australians retire on.

In any event all this is off topic. Nothing to do with thread.

BTW permanent resident in my book means little. You have easy passage to obtain Au citizenship.

Regarding the terminology whether you call it a pension or superannuation it’s the same thing.

I am afraid you are wrong in relation to compulsory superannuation in Australia, if that is what you are referring to and was introduced in about 1990.

It started off at 3% of your ordinary times earnings and was paid by the employer it was not matched by the government.

It gradually increased to 9% and I think now maybe higher.

For other employees employed by various levels of government or larger private employees most were/ are members of a pension fund into which both they and the employer contributed.

Not true. There is a qualification, it wouldn't be reasonable, or acceptable by the people, if someone could just enter the country and receive full benefits immediately.

Even citizens have to qualify for the full amount.

Age Pension - Residence rules - Services Australia

It’s true if you consider the assets test, you can have lived and worked in Australia all your live and paid taxes yet are then denied he aged pension.

The government has set the bar as to what you should own financially and when you look at the level it is now in my opinion you are hardly rich.

When I moved here to Thailand I realised that by doing so I had to forfeit my future pension unless I returned to Australia for 2 years, so I decided to save more and forgo any future pension claims and have hence worked towards being a self funded retiree.

The point I was making was the way they have lowered the bar by means of the assets test.

I saw the writing on the wall years ago and did exactly what you are doing now.

Many of my friends in Australia are in the same boat working hard and planning for a little extra in the future doesn’t pay off in Australia.

I compare this with the UK I worked there for about 6/7 years in the late sixties early seventies and was surprised to find out that on retirement I was eligible for a small pension.

No need to go back and apply like Australia all done online.

Anyway I am glad I made the decision to retire here very happy despite all the whingers.

I’m in the process of shopping for insurance - thanks for sharing about AXA.

Can anyone share a company with a positive experience?

I don’t know about Covid insurance but we have had Accident and Hospital insurance with Allianz for several years.

We have had excellent service over the years and never a problem with claims.

Last year I had a serious accident at home and wanted to be transferred to a private hospital.

The government ambulance wouldn’t take me and Allianz paid for an ambulance and two nurses which for them was a  300km round trip.

As I previously stated.....why weren't Australian Permanent Residents invited to participate in this roll out? Australian Permanent Residents are residents of Australia, pay taxes in Australia on all applicable income until retirement age, when they then become eligible for the Australian Aged Pension and they also pay and participate fully in the Australian Medicare Scheme (Australian Health Scheme) whilst employed. The Australian Embassy has discriminated against their own Permanent Residents by not including them in the roll out.

Don’t forget the Australian Government also discriminates against Permanent Residents by denying them the aged pension for a number of reasons, notwithstanding what you have paid into the system.

A tip; before you renew, take a copy of old PP & keep it safe.  I ran into flak when doing business at the local teseban because my new PP didn't gel with their old records & they needed my old PP which I'd surrendered on receipt of new one.

Which country require you to surrender your old passport?

Australia and the UK allow you to keep the old one.

I have every passport ever issued.

Very true; how many state pensions have the UK Gov saved by letting Covid ravage through care homes?  Here vaccinating foreigners is frowned upon & many obstacles are thrown up.  Sending vaccines abroad begs the question are there no aliens in Vietnam etc?

Myself and several expat friends received the AZ without any obstacles being placed in our way

I know many Thais who are still waiting.

Personally I would not waste time I'd just go DLT now and let them inspect it telling them you had a new engine block part replaced will you change the engine number in the book.

Unless the DLT office he is dealing with are rather lax I don’t think that will work.

We had an engine changed by Ford a few years ago at no cost.

The DLT people wanted a letter from Ford confirming they had done the work and there was no charge to us.

    No. Only the Thai ones.

Sorry to disappoint you but my wife is the owner of a block of ten apartments and a small motel.

The tenants and guests are treated very fairly and for example she often allows the tenants to break the lease agreement without penalty when they have had to leave early.

Unfortunately it is not always reciprocated it’s amazing what people manage to steal even  the wooden numbers attached the keys.

Another case of greedy people trying to get rich during a world pandemic, they must be among the lowest form of human life, they want an extra charge of 500Bt, when people are working for less than 400Bt per day, just how long does this "service" last? 5mins, 10mins?

Private hospitals are private businesses, they are not subsidized by the government.

If you don’t  want to use their services you can use the government hospitals.

Its the same with airlines if you want better service you fly business or first class, in a hotel pick five star not two.

Its a fact of life the list is endless.

Sounds as if you come from a country where you don’t pay directly for medical services and are suffering from a case of Welfare State Syndrome.

But, they should be held accountable for placing people on lists and then not contacting them.

This  has nothing to do with the Government

Well as a consumer if not happy vote with your feet and go elsewhere.

We have received excellent treatment over the years and will continue as is our choice.

you can not blame RAM hospital entirely,  the government is who is holding the ordering of the vaccine up,  not the hospital.  RAM has excellent doctors and i have been treated well there.

I would agree with your comment we have been dealing with them for years and the normal level of service and professionalism is second to none.

One of the doctors who has been treating me told me about a week ago that they have tried all means to obtain the vaccines but are blocked and stonewalled by the government.

Good for you, and your friends. Youll be fully vaccinated in another ~ 8+ weeks, assuming there are second doses being distributed then. The government may choose to vaccinate more people with one shot, and let the second shot wait.

Primary registration site for foreigners is intervac; been down for what, three weeks.

Yes, some foreigners got through intervac early, mor prom, pink card, socsec, work.

Haven't heard of any others getting appointments recently. Specifially older, nonworking foreigners. I have heard of employees getting appointments, Sinipharm and Sinovac mostly.

We didn't need to register online but at the local hospital.

At least one shot is better than no shot.

just wait until Thai government gets free supplies of vaccines from the west and still refuses to vaccinate us under their rollout program and that would be additional to already donated millios of dollars - do they realise that we are part of the funding for these donations

why are we being excluded from their vaccine rollout, why is the government not distributing the vaccines

I have had my AZ as have several of my expats friends.

We have also been provided with dates for the second shot in twelve weeks time.

Well with this new Delta virus spreading in the government reporting almost double what the virus was last month each day I didn’t I should ban alcohol and gatherings and Chiang Mai for at least 14 days I think that would be a total lockdown for 14 days this virus is very scary and the government so far has not done a good job and rolling out the vaccine to foreigners and retired foreigners that live here T IT

They might not have done a very good job re vaccinating retired foreigners where you live, but myself and several expat friends have had our AstraZeneca shot and have dates for the second shot in twelve weeks.

Waste of time and human life.

Why not go chasing after Pedophile's or hardcore drug dealers.

Idiots wearing badges in my opinion.

So can I presume from your comments that in which ever country you came from the sale of fake drugs, however dangerous they may be are  not investigated?

Must be a delightful place in which to reside.

You clearly have little knowledge of how law enforcement operates particularly in Thailand and that different divisions investigate different categories of crime.

In relation to this matter it was consumer protection who are unlikely to be pursuing pedophiles or hardened drug dealers, as neither would be Traffic Police, or Immigration who are also a division of The Royal Thai Police.
