  1. Always makes you wonder if the husband was like this when they got married and all that the woman cared about was his ability to provide, or it was all a big surprise.
  2. I wonder how long until Thai people get a 999/911 type of service from police. This whole, walk into the station long after the event to report it, then wait to see if anyone takes any interest, then wait for a warrant to be issued, is pretty sub-par public safety wise.
  3. Possibly support for the monarchy itself, but I doubt those same countries want to completely divorce themselves from Britain and no longer have any kind of alliance or support.
  4. Interesting choice of word, given that realm can be a country and an empire. King Charles III rules over a realm of 15 realms!
  5. But alcohol, which is linked to all sorts of crimes, is fine? This guy needs a hobby.
  6. Perhaps you're joking and I'm failing to detect the sarcasm, but the events in the article don't seem particularly unusual for Thailand. Nor is it something that anyone is likely to look into, unless the social media thing blows up.
  7. It doesn't take long in Thailand, when looking at those businesses which employ people who are visible to the public, to see how often there are many more people employed than need to be. Whether that is in a shop, a restaurant, or a building site, there are typically more people than are needed to complete whatever task it is that is being done. I suppose we don't truly know if the employer is employing that many people because they like to have a buffer of bodies in case things get busy, they feel it is their civic duty to employ as many people as they can afford to, or if they simply view that as the norm. It's quite likely, though, that if wages should double overnight, they might think about downsizing their workforce, since, to most, they appear to have an excess of employees.
  8. "Demand For Half Of Workforce To Be Laid Off At May Day Rally"
  9. Nobody ever got everything they wanted all at once. Politics just doesn't work like that, nor should it. Changes come gradually, little by little, as society needs to adjust and ensure they are workable. If you had a party coming into power and changing everything, it would be like a revolution (or an attempt at one), and they don't always work out so well.
  10. One thing that for some reason never ceases to amaze me, even though it is so common, is how many losers there are in the world who need to be unpleasant to other people to feel good about themselves. Even in jobs where you would think that they would get a lot out of it and appear successful, they still have this need to put others down.
  11. Take them into her next life with her.
  12. Terrible writing. I think it's a conflation of "as regular as clockwork" and "as sure as night turns to day". He also describes what happened as "a daring motorcycle heist". I was expecting something worthy of a Hollywood film, not a motorcycle chain snatch attempt. It appears that "Top" is a non-native English speaker, which is fair enough, but they should have someone proof reading everyone's work, especially when the mistakes are instantly noticeable. Although he's also apparently a "multifaceted writer". ????
  13. I don't think grabbing someone's necklace and trying to pull it off can be considered a daring motorcycle heist.
  14. I guess "Motorcycle taxi driver stops woman and hands her the money she just dropped" doesn't sound as good.
  15. And when they are there, there are endless activities and activity rehearsals. No wonder they cannot focus on anything "mai sanook".
  16. I think that while people are willing to live somewhere, even if someone says they will live a shorter life, they aren't willing to put a figure on it. Your life is just your life. We have no idea how long we will live or how/when we will die. You could choose to live in the West and not be harmed by pollution, but then die sooner due to stress.
  17. A little unimaginative. After seeing mention of her keeping people's money in a "kitty purse", I was thinking "The Kitty Purse Killer" might be coined.
  18. I think that so far everyone she has killed either lent her money, invested money, or gave her money to "look after".
  19. I was responding to another poster who said Thai only care about money. You were, but they said Thais in general only care about money so are not interested in anything else, then you turned that into impoverished Thais having no time to worry about the outside world because they have to focus on feeding their family. The previous comment suggests that even if they have enough money and "feeding their family" isn't a constant worry, they still have no interest in the outside world, not that people struggling financially are bad for not putting off feeding their family to keep up to date on world news.
