  1. But why make the point? We already know that, and it has no relation to the topic being discussed? It sounded like whataboutism, to be honest.
  2. You claim that it was "BS", then you go on to say that they were simply wrong about who the money went to. It wasn't "BS" if they were simply wrong about what happened. Therefore you contradicted yourself. 🤷‍♂️ LOL. It's my pro-truth functional mind that seems to be upsetting the Trump-hating nutcases... 🤦‍♂️
  3. Thailand: Incredibly friendly and relaxed people who are known for doing kind things for strangers. Also Thailand: Get attacked or killed if you say something a shopkeeper or delivery person doesn't like.
  4. I hadn't heard of Black Man Mops before. Neither seem racist.
  5. LOL. The people rose up when they voted Trump into office. Now Trump is draining the swamp, as is his mandate. Most normal people see fighting huge levels of corruption and waste as a good thing. Your insane Trump-hating makes you cheer for the wealthy ripping off the people.
  6. So was it BS or were they just wrong about who the money went to? You seem to be contradicting yourself.
  7. Humanity already has the means and resources to eliminate poverty, starvation, and homelessness on a global scale. However, it requires the resolve to do so, and at this point, that determination seems absent, as inequality continues to grow. I wish it weren't the case. You cannot solve homelessness. Most homeless are mentally ill and/or addicted to drugs. They want to be homeless or are unable to function in a home. The only real solution would be to have mental institutions again. The problem is "care in the community" is what we have now.
  8. I feel the same. I think people rush to say things are racist wherever they see the chance. The toothpaste one actually highlights the plight of Black people, as he is constantly rescuing people's balloons, but then they are too scared to take them from him. A feeling I'm sure most foreigners can relate to post-covid.
  9. How does this provide any context? Other foreign people do bad things in Thailand, so Israelis can behave however they want?
  10. How do you feel this video is "racial insensitive"?
  11. How dare they ask tourists to be respectful towards their hosts, they clearly only want their money... 🙄
  12. Possibly some locals thought she was too blatant and it might affect reputations. Nobody seems to care as long as it is kept on the quiet.
  13. This guy used to be funny. Now he's just another ranting Trump hater. Sad.
  14. I think it's probably based around tourism. People like Thailand and it makes Thai people a lot of money. If they had a similar economy to Laos, they might not be so proud. You can't really fault them for that.
  15. This is fairly common in most Buddhist countries.
  16. "The important thing to worry about in this story is the danger of White Nationalism." - Starmer, probably...
  17. No. They should follow his lead and ask him for advice in how to fix their countries too.
  18. Yeah, I read a book called The Language Game which claimed that language acquisition doesn't use the "switches" that Chomsky said so much that it's a game of trial and error. I wasn't convinced, to be honest. I quite like Hymes' Communicative Competence. It seems a bit more interesting and relevant to me. It sounds more like a practical help to understanding the process. It's probably this with a combination of "switches" and "language games".
  19. Yeah. I wish he was still young and sharp. I'm sure he would have something interesting to say about AI and how it acquires language skills. Probably something interesting on the legal/moral consequences also.
  20. People probably wanted to listen to him, hence the show. It's about competition.
  21. The same reason this is a valid sentence: Colorless green ideas sleep furiously AI knows the rules, but it doesn't know what makes sense.
  22. Exactly the same for me. It wasn't even gradual or subtle, just straight to "men are all evil, violent abusers of women". That's the problem when you operate a "customer for life" business model. Once you betray your customers, some will stop being your customers, for life.
