What do you expect a criminal record check to be like? It's solely to give you a piece of paper saying that you don't have a criminal record. Nothing more. They check that you are you. Then they check to see if you have a criminal record in Thailand. If a dangerous/criminal person doesn't have a criminal record, it isn't going to do much to help.

I think before you consider paying reparations, you need to confirm a few things: Are they subtracting from the total all the money and effort that Britain used in ending the slave trade? Are they subtracting all the money and effort made by Britain in maintaining the Commonwealth? Are the people providing the money for reparations only those that benefited from slavery originally? Are all other countries, including non-White countries, also paying? If you cannot answer yes to these questions, it doesn't seem reasonable to even consider reparations.

That's insane. I figured it was just stupidity from souping up their vehicles. I had no idea it was deliberate. 🤦‍♂️ Whenever I see them tear off down the road, followed by a stream of dirty smoke, they look like children. Like playing cards in the BMX spokes just to make a noise. 🙄

The subject is vaping. Not smoking.

They don't even seem to be able to get relatively new vehicles to not spew out black smoke, which should be quite easy.

It's also kind of weird that they seem more bothered about vaping than pollution, alcohol and road safety, which are far more dangerous.

It seems that the conclusion here is "fathers smoking causes their kids to vape". I'd like to see the research that say that there's actually a link between fathers smoking and their children vaping.

The Thai equivalent is very common. Most outdoor restaurants will sell the Thai equivalent dish of fried rice with meat for 40-60 Baht. You must have seen this.

I think you have to remember that you're in a country where the food you're eating is quite cheap. No offense, but it doesn't really look high quality for Europe. This means you need to compare it with the same kind of food in Thailand (not the exact same dish). By the looks of the photos, where you're eating looks comparable with a Thai outdoor restaurant selling most everyday dishes for around 40-60 baht. So, what you're eating in these photos, could be up to ten times cheaper in Thailand.

It also remains unclear as to whether the foreigner was to blame for the collision. 🙄

Well, it would be separate, additional income and they would be targeting students that wouldn't be going to their Western campuses, so how much they earn in their home countries doesn't really matter. It wouldn't be a zero sum game and it would not be affected.

While I agree that Thailand does remain free of a lot of wokeness (although some LGBT stuff has crept in), I'm not sure that would be enough to make up for the negative influence that the reputation of the Thai education system would no doubt have. If you compare the fake teaching of Thailand, with the woke indoctrination of many American universities, it's actually hard to know which is more damaging. I suspect the degrees that have a big pull for foreign students have been spared much of the wokeness, though.
