Anyone Else Finding AseanNow Almost Unusable Recently❓
Andrew Dwyer replied to Skeptic7's topic in Forum Support Desk
Back up to full speed again this morning !! Well done 👍 -
Just to add : Byd manufacture and use LFP batteries solely in their ev’s , their batteries are also used in other ev’s due to their safety aspect. NMC batteries ( Nickel, Manganese, Cobalt ) are another common alternative. NMC have a better energy density than LFP in that they are lighter and smaller but LFP have many more energy cycles and therefore a longer life. Both NMC and LFP react differently in hot and cold climates, it is always somewhat of a compromise but LFP deal with the heat better and therefore are more prevalent here in Thailand. BYD continues to search for the ideal battery configuration and currently uses a sodium-ion ( Na-ion ) battery in its Seagull EV but currently only in China. They are also studying the use of LMFP ( Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate ) batteries which appear to have a higher energy density while retaining the cost and efficiency of LFP.

BYD Seal tips, tricks and help
Andrew Dwyer replied to macahoom's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The latest fad on Seal sold here is to change the rear suspension springs, presumably to make it stiffer, at a cost of 4800 baht. Was also popular on Atto 3 to change springs and shocks, for around 30k. Anyone here feel the necessity for this or is it a “ monkey see, monkey do” situation ? -
Thought this was worthy of a screenshot: State of health of the battery after 100k miles (161k km) This means the range of this MG EP ( MG5- U.K.) has deteriorated from new 233 miles to 219 miles ( 375 km to 352 km ).

I asked this question a couple of weeks ago but it looks like gas station prices are 5.5/7.5 baht ( or thereabouts ) but usually in a mall you will pay a premium price of 9 baht for EZ PluZ -
BYD Seal tips, tricks and help

Now this got my attention : 📸 Watch this video on Facebook https://m.facebook.com/groups/844499835639464/permalink/6808456035910451/?mibextid=HSR2mg If I understood this correctly: It plugs into the existing cable used for BYD dash cam. It can remain monitoring for up to 24 hours. Can put the view from the rear view dash camera on the rear view mirror ( much clearer without passengers or head rests in the way ) Also has forward facing camera, where this is located I do not know, maybe built into the rear view mirror body. Many questions, price/resolution/availability etc, but looks ideal to me ( as someone who’s OCD about neatness and trailing cables etc ) , especially the rear view . One to watch out for !! This link, hopefully, gives more info. 📸 Look at this post on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/1Wt1uEGFFRkrL62q/?mibextid=K8Wfd2 -

Here’s a link to an electric sunshade for the BYD Seal( 16,900 baht ), looks okay but I feel it has cut down the surface area of the glass roof somewhat . 📸 Watch this video on Facebook https://fb.watch/ouKz9_Ueqe/?mibextid=HSR2mg Still think some film can cut down the heat while retaining the beauty of the glass roof. -

Welcome back, what have we missed ? Well BYD are offering a 3 car giveaway for BYD owners to commemorate 19,999 cars sold . Plus, Dolphin buyers will get a free charger and free maintenance/service . Atto 3 buyers will get 2 years free insurance. Seems like 3 good deals to me ! ( forum limitations not allowing me to post a photo currently ). -

Yes, good news that the AVAS ( Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System ) will have the option to be switched off. Wondering if European and Australian Seals will follow suit, I’m thinking not . Commonly known as PWS ( Pedestrian Warning System ) elsewhere. Personally I think it is strange why full EV’s are subject to this ruling, my HEV is also silent running at times and, let’s face it, how much noise does an ICE car make when driving round a car park below 30 kph ? -

I started a topic on this yesterday, every time I click to change topic I get a full page blurry photo from one of the ads, click on the “X “ to remove. My topic on the support forum was replied to by george then promptly closed ! How does that help me or anyone else for that matter ?. -

Thanks, PTT is king in our region and on our most common routes ( Ayutthaya and north from there ) but I guess there will be more appearing, didn’t they recently buy ESSO ? -

I do find that Lazada are much better at notifying you with delivery dates, except for the “ your item will be delivered within the next hour “ message which is usually within the next few hours. Shopee on the other hand give you a longer delivery date then all of a sudden, 3 or 4 days before, are calling you to say they are arriving ! -

Thanks Personally, off-peak is preferable but only on a weekend for me, can’t see myself charging after 10 pm, way past my bedtime especially on a long trip. Historically we have always stopped at PTT ( wife likes her Amazon and Seven fix ) and will probably continue to do so. PEA is cheaper but presumably fewer charging stations available. Suppose I will prepare by setting up a few accounts on the different suppliers and then charging will be dependent on time and location, a little test on each supplier locally before embarking on any long trip. We do tend to decide on the spur of the moment to travel up to Chiang Mai or down to Chumphon for example. But I guess, economy wise, Off-peak is cheapest, PEA next, then the various gas stations and malls/hotels/restaurants as a last resort ? -

That presumably is at a gas station, whereas the FB post was talking about EV PluZ located in a a mall, seems like gas stations have a regular price 7.5/5.5 baht whereas malls, and presumably restaurants or hotels etc have a premium charging rate of 9 baht -

I know you have solar and use MG charger sometimes but what would be your recommendation for charging on a longer trip, PT , PTT etc ?? -

I see a post on FB today complaining about the price of charging in the shopping mall, the post was specific to EV Station PluZ . They were charged 9 baht a unit ( pump prices for EV PluZ are 7.5/5.5 baht) . Does this apply to other energy suppliers also ?, if so would explain the lack of customers at my local mall , Central Ayutthaya, with around 10 chargers have only ever seen one charger occupied. -

I have only had one incident with Lazada ( I use both Shopee and Lazada ), ordered 8 packs of alcohol wipes and only 5 arrived. When questioned the seller initially asked for my unpacking video, being a relatively cheap item I hadn’t made one, he then told me to return as he had no more stock. In the end I let it ride as was still a decent deal for 5 items instead of 8 which what the seller was probably banking on when faced with an order for 8 and he only had 5 left. I compensated with a bad review, unfazed I still receive messages about offers from the seller. -

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)
Andrew Dwyer replied to CharlieH's topic in Entertainment
This might interest you @xylophone : On YouTube channel Cinemium there’s quite a few ( around 50 ) old Western movies, Clint and John Wayne etc, they have been added this week, strangely they are not labeled by their title but as you can see from the photo go by “ great action western movie “ or similar. Take a look, am sure there will be something to your liking. -

According to this photo ( taken in a Thai showroom shortly after Seal was released ) it is an LFP battery. ( which kind of of goes with the European manual which calls it a starter iron battery ) What advantages this has over a lead acid I don’t know. Anyone ?? -
