  1. I don’t see much bias towards Tesla , not in the videos I have watched anyway, he does reference German cars a lot and certainly takes a poke at Chinese software now and then. But he’s very relatable to my situation, driving cars on Thai roads with Thai climate and reviews models that are available in Thailand. Also, any info on local charging is surely useful. The comments about Thai driving in general, right lane huggers as he calls them as he hugs the right lane ! always bring a smile to my face. Reviews of cars features, looks, quality and price etc can be got elsewhere but actual reviews relevant to Thailand are few and far between, unless you are fluent in Thai of course. Thaiautonews is another YouTuber who is worthy of a watch but not as comprehensive or as fun as Bjørn’s imho.
  2. Yup, MG4 jockeying for position against Atto 3 in my personal/affordable EV favourite. Here’s Bjørn putting it through its paces on the mountain stress test ……… did he find some problem ?? ( but he was , to use his own words , “ hammering “ it initially ) Maybe , loading some weight in the car and giving it a more sedate run up the mountain would be a more realistic test ??
  3. Corden was funny in character in Gavin and Stacey but somehow rose to fame very quickly and gained the American chat show host gig where he imposed “ superstar “ status on himself. After that he quickly became super annoying, imho, and frequently popped up on the U.K. comedy shows ( 8 out of 10 cats etc ) where he appears to adopt the “ I’m funnier than the other guests “ mantle, also imho. But his Carpool Karaoke remain an innovative ( even if he is not actually driving) format and some of his guests are in the top tier . Not wanting to completely post a character assassination piece I will say that he has a great voice and often surprises his guests with his knowledge of the songs. I seem to remember him on Graham Norton saying he was in a boy band many years ago where he wrote most of the songs.
  4. My wife too seems to find watching people eat large amounts of food with large amounts of lip smacking appealing !! She is also addicted to watching ingrown toenails being corrected in tortuous fashion . I find solace in the fact she never adopted the pimple popping or ear wax removal binge watching trend .
  5. Another Bangkok challenge from Bjørn, this time in the MG4 Bjørn shows us some charging challenges, quick review of the lane assist software and adaptive cruise control annoyances in the MG4 and, as usual, some of his food options !! On the plus side a big thumbs up for the suspension and ride experience. Always entertaining .
  6. Another entertaining ( rambling ???? ) video from Bjørn explaining the pros and cons of LFP batteries v Cobalt. Good news for anyone contemplating the MG4, shows some nice overtaking power of this car also.
  7. About 8 months ago a cat appeared at our front door meowing loudly, we gave it some tuna and left over rice and it devoured it. Quickly adopted us as a source of nutrition and came regularly to feed, we started buying cat food and nicknamed him Lucky. He will sleep on a cushion outside overnight and as soon as we show signs of stirring will make it known he is ready for his breakfast. He likes to come inside to sleep off the food and can spend most of the daylight hours asleep inside if we let him ( we never leave him inside alone ). He can disappear for a couple of days at a time, visiting his other “ families “ but always returns. I think we can assume that he feels safe with us .
  8. Or to put it another way, going by this photo if I use the TOU meter only for charging an EV at 7 kWh will i be on the lower tariff or the higher ? ( the below 12 kV is confusing me ) Also, I am on PEA if that makes any difference .
  9. My brother tried to educate our parents with Camembert Electrique , the Faust Tapes and some Can albums ….. it wasn’t pretty ☹️
  10. Is it correct that there’s a 300 baht monthly charge, irrespective of usage, on a TOU meter ??
  11. Buy a tin of tuna, open it and put just outside the door, the cat will get interested in the tuna before long.
  12. Yes, I hope I didn’t come across as a smug bar steward, I just wanted to make you aware. I’ve been following the MG4 for a while on FB groups and YouTube reviews and I admit it wasn’t exactly obvious what specs are being sold here, on the MG website the X and D have the LFP battery and the same quoted range but it’s all in Thai so not clear. Also elsewhere the Trophy/Exclusive(Ireland) equivalent of the X version is only available in extended range adds to the confusion. As i said earlier it’s a great looking car with great spec and an attractive price , a shame about the extended range not available here although the benefits of the LFP battery ( being able to charge to 100 % daily and safer ) add to its appeal. I’m currently interested in the BYD Atto 3 but the cheaper MG4 X , with a dealership over the road , a reasonable chance to part ex my existing MG and the no nonsense interior compared to the Atto 3 makes it a strong contender . From what I’ve seen so far the MG4 has had a few (3) issues but all resolved and the only real complaint is the low range achieved in the U.K. winter which obviously won’t be a problem here.
  13. I think you will find that both the X and the D models here in Thailand have the standard range ( 51 kWh ) battery. In the U.K. the SE (D) is available in standard range and SE (D) and Trophy (X) available in extended range . “ The MG4 is priced at 869,000 Baht for the D variant and 969,000 Baht for the X variant. It comes with a 51kWh lithium battery powering a rear-mounted motor developing 170hp and 250Nm The MG4 has a range of 425kms (NEDC) or 350kms (WLTP).It is built from MG’s new Nebula Pure Electric Platform and offers sporty handling, thanks to a low center of gravity, short overhangs and a 50-50 front-rear weight distribution.Distributor MG Thailand recently invited the Thai media for a short drive opportunity for the MG4 X variant at the Pathumthani Speedway. “ Source thaiautonews.net The difference between X and D variants is D lacks: Sat Nav, rear spoiler, 360 degrees camera, access to the iSmart app and voice controls , wireless charger, two tone interior, availability in Brighton Blue amongst other things. The X version on sale here is a good looking car at a great price and the RWD/ LFP battery combination gives an excellent 50/50 weight distribution. Don’t get me wrong, it’s second on my list of EV’s that I would like to buy, if the extended range battery was available here it could be first.
  14. That’s interesting, I thought only the standard range was available in Thailand ?
  15. Nicknamed John Wayne Toilet paper in my youth as “ doesn’t take shiite from anyone “ !!
  16. Actually Lozenges, but as kids we used to eat them like sweets, difficult to find nowadays I guess but as they contained chloroform and ether understandable !!
  17. I suspect this may differ with location . I applied for first extension from my recently acquired O visa on 21st Nov 2022 and extension stamp issued on 13th Dec 2022 with a 90 day notice of 18th Feb 2023 . In my case 90 days reporting starts from the day I applied for the O visa extension not issued date. Ayutthaya IO.
  18. No, I’m in a medium sized moobahn right at the end of a small sub soi .
  19. So, if my supply is adequate ( guess I would need PEA to check that ) i could get an additional meter ( a TOU ) fitted to charge the EV via a breaker and the supplied 7kw charger ? Alternatively I would need a higher rate of supply ? a 30/100 ? Or a 3.7 kw charger which would increase my charging time a lot and probably means I run into peak times ? All this is based on a 60 kWh EV if that helps. Obviously electricity is not my forte , please be gentle ????
  20. So it looks like i am on a 15/45 meter , what would be required, if anything, to get suitable for an EV in-house charging on a 7kw charger ?
  21. I remember when the US started using biometrics to enter ( early 2000’s ? ) so fingerprints and a snapshot became the norm. Brazilian immigration took this personally, although other nationalities had to conform also, and started separate immigration lines for US citizens only. Indignation was high among visiting Americans as the lines entering São Paulo were of Suvarnabhumi levels at times and Americans were quite clearly being victimised. Imagine the level of reclamation in this situation, a lot of chest beating and chants of USA USA , it was quite fun to watch. The segregation only lasted a few weeks but the highlight was the American Airlines pilot who gave the immigration camera “ the bird “, he got his 15 minutes of fame and a $13k fine. https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna3961395
  22. Another little thing you might not be aware of: The info screen rotation seems a little superfluous to me and landscape seems adequate for all situations imo ( unless in Sat Nav mode portrait is a better option ? ). Anyway, if you hold the screen rotation button located on the steering wheel for a few seconds a screen pops up with options for the use of said button: a) screen rotation b) take a dash cam photo c) start a dash cam video ( press again to stop recording ) All 3 options a little superfluous imo but maybe a snapshot or being able to start a video at will suits you better ?
  23. The MG4 rose £1000 in the U.K. at the same time , not sure if same in Europe or going to affect Thai price.
