Electric Vehicles in Thailand
Andrew Dwyer replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Thanks @Bandersnatch for the reviews, I eventually made it there yesterday. Disappointed U Pro was a no show , seems like about a year since it was revealed . That wasn’t you going south on the 32 Thursday, Red HS ## 5910 ? -
There is a few articles on Google but the general consensus is that it wasn’t officially marked by the city. This guy claims to be the first: ” The X had been a popular photo spot, despite its location in a busy traffic lane. Robert Groden, an author and Kennedy assassination conspiracy theorist, said last week that he first painted the X years ago. But as seen in footage of that Dallas thoroughfare, the X was back Tuesday. What’s not known is who put it there. “ ( from an article after the road was resurfaced 2013 ) Over the years it has worn away and Road resurfacing has eradicated it but it always reappeared within a week or two, Unofficial touts are thought to replace it to supplement their income.

Been to Graceland also, 2002 was working in Batesville , MS. On the same trip , driving round killing time came upon the Crossroads monument ( where Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil ). Working in Fort Worth had a drive to see the “ x” marks the spot where Kennedy was shot one evening , a colleague was looking it up on the internet and it said “ beware of fake touts trying to sell you a tour “ as he read this out 3 dubious looking fellas were approaching from different directions ! Threw up on the last train from New York to Norwalk, Conn after a day visiting the sights, damn you Jäegermeister…. never again ! Had a visit to Muscle Beach , CA while working in Ontario, CA, and saw the sights there. Also from there had a drive ( 4 hrs ) to Vegas , stayed around 4 hrs then drove back ! Worked for an American company for 32 years and visited maybe 70 times to many locations. Had an American brother in law ( we married Brazilian sisters) for 20 years and had many great winter/summer vacations in Denver. Consider myself very lucky, had many great visits there, some not so great ????, and made many lifelong friends. Would have liked to have seen Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore but the opportunity never arose.

“ I have now found out that the car is produced in january 2021 and was used as a show room car. Must be the reason for the corrosion. The car looked fine outside and inside and unfortunately I did not look underneath as I assumed it was a new car. The odometer showed 89 km. “ Close enough

So you think he should just accept being sold a two year old car as new ?
-
I believe you have bought what they class as an Activity Car , could be a showroom, test drive or motor show vehicle. Usually a year or two old and most likely not sold before. GWM are clearing their Activity Cars at the moment, Jolion and H6 with around 150/160k discount depending on model.

Summary of the 1st 7 days bookings at the Motor Show compared with the interest shown at the EXPO. At the EXPO lot of interest in BYD, but at the Show possibly hoping Seal availability or the Dolphin price is too rich makes for some poor sales figures so far. Good to see MG up there with the big boys , with the MG4 and the ES no doubt going to be a good result for them. Incidentally while the Motor Show is on my local Mall ( Ayutthaya City Park ) has a Mini Motor Show but it’s usually quite weak . MG showing the MG5 and the VS HEV and not a newly released model in sight, why even bother ?? -

Yes, I don’t know what is happening with this, there’s reports of some BYD lines slowing down production in China so maybe they had a rethink. -
What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)

It was okay, deserved of its 6.4 imdb rating imho. A lot of well known faces all trying to out punchline each other. -
I bought a similar one years ago but it was more of a grout than a glue, okay if you want to fill the gaps between tiles ( or use like a filler to fill small holes etc ) . I didn’t try it for the loose tile as it wasn’t liquid enough to get underneath the tile.

I thought that maybe the Telegraph journo had given the car back already and couldn’t remember if it had or not. Quickly browsed another 4 U.K. car magazine reviews and they all said the same…… could it be they are all plagiarising each other ?? Until Parkers spotted it “ You also get a handy storage area under the boot board, which is useful for hiding the car’s charging cable – and it’s especially welcome considering you don’t get any storage space under the bonnet. You can also set the boot board to a higher position to eliminate the lip between the boot opening and the floor.“ -

I haven’t seen an official list but the 3 trim levels are slightly different to the Thailand models. The top spec , Design , is the Thai extended version with a 15.6” screen and 11kw AC charging but weighs in at 1,623,00 baht. Bearing in mind that the 15.6” screen can be bought and fitted here for 28,500 baht that’s some expensive 3 phase charging, even if you have it at home that is !! So the difference between the top U.K. model and top Thai model (with an upgraded screen)is 11 kw v 7 kw home charging and around £9,300 ( 387k baht ) and a free home charger with installation and 1 year insurance . Makes you glad to be a Brit …….. living in Thailand ???? -

Yes, seems strange why the dynamic option is not available, hence many Thai owners paying a couple of hundred baht to convert to WLTP ( 420 km ). Wonder what the reason is for not enabling this feature here, really doesn’t make sense. -

Lurking around the Atto 3 FB Groups i see a lot of posts from Thai owners who have run out of battery and have to call the tow truck to take them home or the nearest charging station, depending on distance I guess and paying up to 3,700 baht for the service. The major complaint is that they appear to have enough km’s to get them safely to their destination but when they get down to the lower km figures they disappear very rapidly and the inevitable happens. Of course, it has been stated frequently, on here, that 20% is a good safety barrier but on the Atto the remaining km figure is a lot bigger than the actual battery percentage and owners are ignoring the battery %. It has been stated that as the 100% SOC figure is fixed at 480 ( NEDC ) and as the battery percentage drops it doesn’t compensate until the lower levels when rapid compensation causes the km to disappear quickly. For example: if you have been driving along since 100% SOC and have covered 200 km in 50% then it is likely to tell you that you have 280 km left where in reality you probably have around 200-220 km . This is causing so much confusion that many have got the dealership to covert from 480 ( NEDC ) to 420 ( WLTP ), not perfect but closer to the actual range. My questions are ( finally ???? Do other EV owners see this type of range management. Why can the range not be calculated based on your driving similar to ICE which seems to work well.
