Winston Smith, the protagonist in Orwell's '1984', is experienced at erasing history and available as a consultant to any and all authoritarian regimes. Probably works cheaper than the phalanx of newbies Trump has hired for the job too. With the copyright long expired on Orwell's work and Machiavelli's 'The Prince', and the 2025 Report available to him, Trump really doesn't need any other advisors. Oh. I forgot. He can't read. I doubt there is a children's picture book version of the first two named but I'm sure one is in the works, just for him, on the third. Still it could take him months to plow through it between golf games, ally intimidation, public preening, and self-aggrandizing. Americans have taken the first step by electing him but may have to finish the dismantling of government themselves. I urge all patriotic Americans to report ASAP to the United Sheep of America Sycophant Induction Center. USA SIC for short. Ask not what your country can do FOR you but instead ask what you can do TO your country. Working together we can destroy centuries of progress in a few short months and become the laughing stock of the civilized world on an extraordinary and envious scale! You too can snuff out the light on the hill.

All you say is valid, but so what? All apps are executable files so one must always be vigilant. Do you call the originator of every piece of software you use and speak to the coders? No? Well then I guess they are unknown to you. This is a very tiny file that you run once. Of it causes harm you know it sooner or later. Registry mods are dangerous as you say. So many apps are available that make it easy. Of course it's smart to always back up your registry files before changes; it's in the menu for editing the registry. If you are afraid of your computer then don't install any apps unless you write them yourself. Your advice is very generic but thanks; many people should only use their computer for social media which is of course always safe. Going out in big cities at night can be dangerous; best to stay at home. People die every day on the roads; best to stay home. Eating some foods can be........well you get the idea. As always: up to you.

Yep. Hyper-capitalization at work. It's the chinese answer to everything. Any country can trash another's producers if they subsidize their own products deeply enough. Making more of something doesn't mean it's better. 40 -60% of the price of an EV is battery. Batteries, especially made in China, wear out. Time will tell.

PM me and I'll send it. Run it one time to stop updates, again to activate them. Be ready for a few hours of deciding which ones to download as you will be inundated.

That is the common wisdom. I decline to participate but I keep regular and redundant backups. So far I've avoided trouble. Up to you.

Depends on perspective I guess. I found a small exe on the web that mods the registry to think the next update is in 20 years. Been happy without fear of turning my machine into a brick or consrant nagging for over three years. I'm good to go. Next update I do to win10 is linux!

The seat hurt my bum. Who's fault was it?
RocketDog replied to Elvis Presley's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
When you sit? Heavy people generally do nothing else but sit. Cause and effect with positive feedback loop. Eventually they end up with their belly and their butt down around their ankles. -
OP While I understand that this doesn't directly answer your question or reply to your dilemma here is what I was able to do in a few seconds. I took a screenshot of the text from your post then went to Google Translate and pulled it up from the camera icon and translated it and then took a screenshot of the translated version. It may not be perfect but it helps a bit. Maybe this will be able to help you in the future.

A rant about Thai driving.. I know.. Yaaaawwwnn
RocketDog replied to 1happykamper's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
It's sad that the upside down version of the phrase is now held as legitimate use. I guess all laguages evolve but this seems an affront to simple logic.. So be it, but I will still say 'couldn't care less' because I just feel stupid using the new version. -
A rant about Thai driving.. I know.. Yaaaawwwnn
RocketDog replied to 1happykamper's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I was all over VN for three weeks. The Vietnamese friend I traveled with kept telling me to just start walking slowly in a straight line and let them flow around you. Seemed crazy to me but it worked, that is I'm still alive and walking. There's absolutely no way in heaven or hell I would try that here. I'd be a flattened corpse in seconds with my wallet and phone gone. -
Agreed on every point. Other than news of visa process changes and the new tax topics nothing much is germane to me. I let 10 or so editions accumulate and then burn thru them in a few minutes in case there is actually some useful content. Of course all the details of Thai people and tourists killing/maiming/cheating each other in various ways is hardly news. More and more AN sounds like a large city's daily police report. Repeat and ongoing perennial topics are a waste of time . The political bile is splattered on virtually every topic eventually. Mostly seems to be terminally bored or intrinsically antagonistic people wasting each other's time. Often now I ask myself why I bother any more. Since this is the only social media I have ever indulged in or ever will, I'm thinking it's time to cut the cord completely and spend that time on more productive pursuits, such as scratching my a$$. When I came here years ago ThaiVISA forum was helpful, informative, and entertaining. This new incarnation we have now, not so much. Lately AN seems to be trying extra hard to justify its own existence. If this post (I accidentally typed 'pist' and now that seems more appropriate) gets me banned then so be it. In any event it's honest feedback from a long-time reader.

If you don't care why did you bother to reply? Sorry. I'm not buying it. Now.......will you bother to reply to me thereby again proving how little you care? Do you understand your conundrum now?
-
The fact that you replied this way belies your response. It's pretty clear you felt the need to respond so in fact you DO care. Well done.

I spent two hours helping a girl to get a new job
RocketDog replied to steven100's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The only way to deal with Thai nationals is to front run the conversation by knowing all the silly ways things that can go wrong and addressing them first. I've learned the hard way to do this before unleashing workmen or tradesman on any of my home projects. -
If "A Web of Accusations and Controversy" is a spider web for Biden it's a mile long and wide drag net for trump. For starters Biden has not twice faced impeachment proceedings and is not a convicted Felon who has spent the last several years in a courtroom defending his actions. There is no limit to republican hypocrisy.

Yes. Sorry. I grew up near the usa border with Mexico that that popped into my brain. Getting old sucks. I will add that they have a wonderful European expat acting as a liason for English speakers. Not sure if he's a doctor but knows their capabilities very well. He told me most procedures there are significantly cheaper than Bangkok Hospital down the road a bit. My inquiries on various procedures to both hospitals proved him correct. I've been in my share of cardiac operating suites in hospitals all over the USA and find San Paulo to be on par with the best at least the OR they used for my procedure.

Please tell me you didn't actually use dinosaurs as a noisy neighbor remedy. Seems overly brutal to me.

Thai monk’s death linked to congenital disease, not dog attack
RocketDog replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
If the dog killed the monk copious amounts of blood would be present. Biting off body parts after fact would be nearly bloodless. No? NB: Sad that all the dog haters here jumped on this so quickly with conjecture stated as obvious fact. -
Or use free FTP. WeTransfer.com offers free with 2gb limit. Sender uploads, receiver alerted my email with download link. 7 days later files are deleted and link dead. Very simple. But DropBox and their ilk work too if you don't mind leaving files in the cloud.
