Bolt is cash only in Pattaya, currently Bolt are not taking commission.
-
I have had problems with Bolt, you order then they cancel possibly because they a closer pick up, they don’t like the airport not unless they have a return trip, think it’s around 1500 baht, you can get a taxi from Pattaya for just over a 1000 baht.

Transmitting through Schipol a couple of weeks ago they checked your temperature prior to boarding then you had to complete and sign a declaration form to say you hadn’t had Covid in the last 2 weeks or been in contact with anyone who had, no idea what the consequences would have been if you said yes, maybe a Covid test.

I have seen fresh sprouts and frozen ones in Big C, never checked the price, sprouts are only decent once they have had a touch of frost, I doubt neither had. BIg C had frozen cooked turkeys around 2500 baht. I was in the U.K. in November, the cost of living has gone through the roof,

I don’t eat fried rice, I do a lot of home cooking here so I am well aware what it costs to prepare and cook a meal and it’s nowhere the prices some restaurants are charging (U.K. prices) for basically a Sunday Lunch with a few paper hats and crackers.
-
Enhance what restaurant, I have lived in Pattaya for 10 years and been to many of the restaurants, I can’t see how they can justify or the reason for charging premium rates on Christmas Day when no extra cost is involved, think it’s called profiteering.
-
Thinking back I probably contributed, I used to pay 3000 baht a year, my girl said it was for her Mothers endorsement.
-
Only saying, I didn’t ask because it’s a Thai thing, my girl keeps a lot of things to herself, if she doesn’t tell me I don’t ask, btw I posted the original topic. I am not sure where all the funds come from for the funeral, my girl was given 5000 baht which she intends to buy some gold which I will contribute towards in memory of her Mother.

I have never had a problem with Wise until recently, transfer are sometimes taking nearly 2 days some times, I emailed them but they come back with the standard answer, we have converted your transfer to baht but the delay is with the Thai bank system. They also said transfers can be delayed over a W.E and Bank Holidays, no I have transferred money during these periods and it was more or less instantaneous. Recent transfers took nearly 2 days yet I transferred money last night out with banking hours and it was instantaneous. Are Wise holding peoples funds in a high interest bearing accounts, I imagine there will be a large sum of money which would attract interest. Wise is now a public company, have they now changed anything because prior to going public everything was straightforward, I will give them some credit as they answered my emails almost immediately.

I can easily afford what ever it costs, I regularly had Christmas Lunch in the U.K., I expected to pay a premium because of the increased rate of pay for the staff, double time as it was a holiday. You say good European food, no it’s not it’s grown in Thailand, ok the Turkey might be imported, the staff if they are lucky will be on the Thai minimum wage so how can a restaurant justify charging European prices, it’s exploitation of foreigners by their own people.

Am I reading the price right 2490 baht nearly £60 and that doesn’t include drinks ?
-
Yes it’s all about choice, I haven’t spent the Festive period in the U.K. since 2006, I have enjoyed my times in places not just Thailand in warmer climates. There is always talk of tourists being exploited by Thai people but foreign restaurants here are exploiting people even more charging for basically what is just a Sunday Lunch.
-
No they are exploiting the farang tourists, my idea of Christmas in Asia is sitting in the sun enjoying a beer not eating overpriced food in a bar/restaurant, I can do that in the U.K.
-
The bars and restaurants in the U.K. are very expensive on Christmas Day, it’s a holiday, the staff get double time, if they are on the minimum wage currently £10.90 meaning they will be on £21.80 on Christmas Day meaning lunch will be expensive. in Pattaya the staff will be on the Thai minimum wage 350 baht roughly bearing in mind Christmas Day is not a holiday in Thailand so there is no need to pay an enhanced rate to the staff. So why are Restaurants charging U.K. prices for Christmas Lunch ?

My partners mother was cremated a couple of weeks ago, I was never asked to make a contribution, no idea how much it cost.
-
This is one farang who won’t be paying, only met my MIL twice, she asked me to buy her gold, the family all have decent incomes.
-
I know for a fact her family will put pressure on her to get me to pay/contribute, I keep my distance from the family as in the early years they tried to treat me like a walking ATM.
-
Knock a 0 of the end I would consider contributing, I am not looking to save face just my funds, plenty of sons and daughters to help contribute.

My mother in law sadly passed away with cancer, the funeral hasn’t been mentioned, I am currently in the U.K. what is the cost for a funeral/cremation. Whilst I might be being cynical I am the only farang associated with the family, some of them early on regarded me as a ‘cash cow’ but I soon put that right. I don’t mind sharing the cost but like a rough idea how much the cost will be.
