  1. As far as credit card spending, how would they know? AFAIAA there is no link between issuing bank and taxman for any such. Or am I missing something? PH
  2. Mike Only reference I can find to pensions in the UK Thailand DTA is as follows: Article 19.......(2) (a) Any pension paid by the Contracting State or a political subdivision or a local authority thereof to any individual in respect of services of a governmental nature rendered to that State or subdivision or local authority thereof shall be taxable only in that State. Is this the source of your statement above? If so, would seem to include Local Authority employee pensions - which may (not sure) include such as police, fire service, teachers...I think they, like Armed Forces, are not technically "Civil Servants" PH
  3. Worth checking to make sure....email sent to Equiniti. If we all do this one of us might get a reply! PH
  4. Another who thinks this is aimed at us. It is not. In the broader scheme of the thai economy, a few grumbling expats staying or leaving is a rounding error in the overall fiscal numbers. PH
  5. Yes. You appear to think these measures are aimed at expats, when they are aimed at Thais who work overseas and send money home tax-free and wealthy Thais who "manage" the system. That we are (may be) caught up in this is, perhaps, collateral damage. Or it may not affect us at all. PH
  6. I live in a project where we are on top of this. Condo Byelaws explicit for no short-term lets, but the biggest factor is enforcement and here we are fontunate to employ our office staff directly rather than using a management company. Providing you can get enough support, then an AGM resolution to change the management company to your own staff could well make the existing company much more proactive in enforcing the rules (I am assuming your rules do not allow short term lets here). I would look to go the own-staff route in any case. Talking to others who live in projects with Man.Cos, the difference is marked - they work for us, not for the Company we employ. PH

    Isaan Woman

"Men are too frightened...". Perhaps a look in the mirror might show someone who needs to be less frightened. Or move on. It appears you may be as much the problem as your wife. PH
  8. So, if we all have non-resident bank accoutns, and if the funda are not "really" in Thailand, we will never have remitted any money TO Thailand and will have zero problems with any income taxes that may or may not be about to be enforced. PH
  9. Also looking for an English teacher (as in, teaches English) for two young girls, aged 9 and 7. Village up towards Akat, but mothers (the girls are neices) could deliver and collect within reasonable distance.
  10. If a reputable driving school, she will have done the tests with them. They will be accriedited by DLT and all legal and above board. PH
  11. Actually...para 2.2 talks about a multiple rentry VISA Many of us have reentry PERMITS attached to our extensions of stay - so maybe Chon Buri (and others) are actually correct? PH
  12. Like that would work! I do my own TM30, so will have that for next extension (and for any other reason I may need to visit Immigration - 90 day online so hopefully just once a year). I posted in an effort to warn those who may be unaware that (in Chon Buri certainly, but quite possibly in other offices) they will need an updated TM30 if they have been out of the Country. PH
  13. Not true in the case of Chon Buri, who now require a TM30 dated after the last time you entered Thailand PH
  14. Again I ask, what is a "cultural Christian"? PH
  15. What is a "cultural Christian"? Surely, to be a Christian (cultural or otherwise) you need to believe in Christ...otherwise you are agnostic, or atheist. PH
  16. Uninformed Thais? Looking at most Western countries, one might think that Christmas is all about overindulging in both food and drink, having an extended holiday, buying overpriced tat as presents that no-one wants and pretending to be overjoyed when others give you similarly overpriced tat in return. PH
  17. How many Falang Christians are there? Given the numbers here, and the rarity of churches, these must be packed solid every Sunday.....unless..... PH
  18. Last year went to renew missus' licence...place was pretty empy at about 1400. She was in and out inside an hour (Falang, esp. for initial licence, may be longer....but not by much I would guess. PH
  19. Not from personal experience as I wen ton my own both for initial and renewals....but I hear MOTS is reliable and decent value....this is in Pattaya, but I amsure there will be other similar in other areas. PH
  20. Any "Agent" who claims they can get you a licence without you attending DLT is a scam. 100% There are several reputable agents who will assist and advise - these are entirely legitmate and useful for those not confident enough to do the process themselves. PH
  21. Not confined to Asian golfers at all. Almost totally gone from golfing etiquette, but ahppens occasioanly - and I have probably been invited t play through more often here by Aisians than by farangs. PH
