Florida woman argues her unborn baby should be released from jail
CanadaSam replied to Scott's topic in World News
Oh for Christ's sake just give the mum and baby proper nutrition and care while in custody. A no brainer in my book. -

Visa Exemption extension question.
CanadaSam replied to cracktheskye's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, please ensure that you get a copy of the TM30 form registered at immigration from your hotel on arrival, some immigration offices require a copy of it to grant extensions. -
Important facts, she tried to report him to the police and they didn't. Conclusion: He was important to the police monetarily. He offered the brother (or family) 500,000 baht to shut up. Conclusion: Guilty, (if innocent, why pay to shut them up?). Finally, the cops says the Canadian didn't do it, even before the autopsy results are out. Conclusion: This could have probably have cost a lot more than the 500,000 offered to said brother, and brother loses out on some big money. Sad all around, especially for the youngish girl who had a life ahead of her, if she had just dumped her violent boyfriend and moved on.... R.I.P.

When I buy fruits or veggies, I always avoid "perfect" looking produce like the plague! It has to have at least one or two insect bites, and be a little imperfect. If insects won't eat it (due the excessive amount of chemicals on it), than I sure won't either!

Is it just me, or do the falangs (in Pattaya at least) ride their bikes more recklessly than locals lately? It's almost daily that I have to put up with idiots driving and overtaking much too fast from the left side (even when I have the indicator on to turn left), riding in the middle or fast lane weaving, and so on.... You would think foreigners would have much more sense, riding bikes in Thailand!!!!

As most of us know, you can use the IDP for the entire term of it's validity, almost no police will ever cross-check with your date of entry etc. on your passport. But I think the OP is more concerned about the Medical Insurance he has from abroad, will it be void on an IDP used for over 90 days from entry into Thailand, or does he need a border bounce to re-validate his IDP. Anybody with any information on this interesting question?

The kid accidentally let go of this balloon! -
They already did a survey which showed that most foreigners dislike normal taxis in Thailand, with Grab and Bolt giving us a reasonable alternative. Take that away and it's just another reason to not visit the Kingdom. But I suppose the Thai people in authority can not add 1+1 to come to the conclusion that these actions will surely result in detrimental effects?

SpaceX admits blocking Ukrainian troops from using satellite technology

Perhaps payment has already been made..... by Russia! -
Bangkok Bank is weird. I have a wire transfer set up for Friday's from the States. It normally takes less than 24 hours. But, apparently the International Money Transfer Division at Bangkok Bank Head Office does not work on Saturdays or Sundays, so I get the funds on Monday morning, at terrible rates. I have never heard of a large bank closing the foreign remittances section on Saturdays or Sundays (or any days at all) in any other country!

If you saw the video on the TV news, you can clearly see there was no "swerving" to avoid anything, nor was there any action oh her part to try and avoid the accident, it was almost as if both the driver and the lady were just oblivious to the fact that there was going to be a severe accident, and neither moved a muscle to avoid it. No braking, no jumping behind the car or on top of it, nobody reacted at all. Perplexing. RIP dear lady.

To explain why only the Malaysian father was wearing a life vest, perhaps this anecdote can explain: A visitor, returning to Kuwait for the first time since the Gulf War, was impressed by a sociological change. On previous visits, she noted that women customarily walked about 5 paces behind their husbands. She observed that all the men now walked over 20 paces BEHIND their wives! She approached one of the women for an explanation: "What enabled women here to achieve this marvelous reversal of roles?" "Land mines," replied the Kuwaiti woman.

Well that's a bit drastic, even with the construction, traffic still moves at a reasonable pace all over Pattaya, there are no hour long jams, etc. that I have seen.

Question about a Thailandpost failed delivery attempt for a package.
CanadaSam replied to Helios's topic in General Topics
In my condo I have received many parcels by post, they drop them off at the office, and on occasion, the condo staff have even signed for some parcels. Perhaps it has something to do with the cakes I give the office staff on special occasions ???? -
Due to the large amounts of police, immigration and other government officials recently being transferred to "inactive posts", and the lack of space to accomodate them, the Government of Thailand is advised to build a very large office complex for the purpose, and to appoint a Minister to oversee the "Ministry of Inactive Posts".
