  1. I don't understand how you can be fined for a mistake that the hotel made! Legally, it is the hotel's responsibility, not yours!
  2. IMO, playing with fire. Wins are notoriously possesive of their "turf" and every customer Rooster gets will be less money for them. This reply is of-course contingent of this not being Rooster's April Fool's Day contribution.
  3. I wonder if the emergency services here carry an epipen or any injectable antihistamine?
  4. You're wrong, people from Europe stay an average of 17-18 days. That's average, which means half of European arrivals stay longer. Dropping to 15 days visa exempt would mean essentially losing half of European tourists! Most tourist coming to Thailand only need 5 to 10 days at most, 30 days is too much for the majority. Source:
  5. IF the Government finds it difficult to increase police wages to a liveable amount, then, IMHO the immediate and easy solution is to keep realistic on-the-spot fines to a level where you can check these corrupt police to only line their pockets with sums which are not hard on the average pocket and easy to pay and finish the matter immediately. i.e. an official fine of 1000 baht for things like no helmet, e-cigs, no seat belt, and other such minor offences would probably result in an un-official payment of around 500 baht to the cop, enabling him to reasonably supplement his income, and also not be too stressful on the violator. IMO, the e-cig extortion mentioned in this post only took place because of the ludicrous penalty imposed by the Government which is a maximum of 500,000 baht and 5 years in prison, for an e-cig possession!!!!
  6. Every phone for the past many years have a cord that plugs one side into your phone, and the other side has a USB connector for plugging into a charger OR a computer/laptop USB outlet.
  7. Quite correct. He landed on 31st and got 45 days, the same as it has been for months. IF he had landed today, and got stamped only 30 days, now that would be something interesting!
  8. All those who are trying to blame the foreign workers, the article clearly says they were legally working. Regarding the "burger flipper" it can be used for that, but it's intended purpose is to clean the cooking surfaces of grease and burger and other remnants quickly.
  9. Having travelled to 50+ countries, both in developing and developed countries, my experience is that ANYTHING is available ANYWHERE for the right price! One of the finest experiences during traveling, is finding things hard to find.
  10. Interesting menu, no real choice of anything, only a 4 course or 6 course tasting menu, 3500 baht for 4 course and 4000 baht for 6 course. I'm assuming Thai food, as it's a Thai chef.
  11. Really, after a manslaughter, that's all they need to do?
  12. Do Thai jails have enough room for all these criminals / murderers, we hear about them daily, many reports must have been missed, where do they put them all?
  13. With all the concern the Government has (or says it has) about a "bad reputation" for Thailand, does it not realize that incidents like this very seriously damage the image of Thailand being a peaceful holiday destination, and will deter MANY tourists from visiting, after learning about price-gouging taxi mafias, and this type of behaviour from taxi driver thugs?
  14. Sincerely hope after impounding it does not end up in the local markets, for the sake of all the pretty girls possibly at risk from jealous boyfriends / ex-husbands, etc.!
  15. 50k WHAT? Rupees / Dollars / Euro / Thai Baht???
  16. 1- It would have been MUCH more cost effective to simply break or cuto off the tops of the drains that were way above the (already good) roads, 2- There is currently one section of road which is down to only one lane (no parking, no left lane) which is causing back-ups all the way to Sukhumvit (severe traffic jam over 2 km I think)!!!
  17. I have NEVER seen any type of Satang coin in over two years in Pattaya. Minimum 1 Baht.
  18. Ok, you've now got me curious, and worried! I eat a lot of sandwiches, so, a lot of Mayo as well. What's the problem with the Mayo in Thailand, Iron Tongue?
  19. A date would really help, was this many years ago?
  20. The report says that he arrived on a 45 day visa exempt???? WAS there a 45 day VE 3 years ago???? So many holes in this story!!!
  21. Ok, in an effort to increase my medical knowledge, wouldn't a hospital be able to know if he had a pre-existing condition or not? Just curious. Thank you.
  22. The article clearly states that he did NOT have a pre existing condition?
  23. DON'T DO IT! I work with Russians all the time, and while most of them never discuss politics, a few are vocal enough to voice their support of Putin, which scares the bejezus out of me. IF you run across one of these crazy fanatical Russians, be ready for a fight. Not worth it, IMHO.
  24. I call my mum "mum".
  25. Spent a few years in Sri Lanka not too long ago, they built a bunch of "highways" which are really nice. Before opening, and also after, the Government put a LOT of TV ads explaining to the public the "rules of the road". Really worked!!!! For instance, you can now get from the airport to Colombo in 35 minutes, compared to before the highway, which was average 2 hours or so! TV ADS! THE answer to illiterate, unknowledgeable drivers, telling them what to do! (Sri Lankan mentality is very similar to Thai mentality in a LOT of ways).
