OP, you know that God (or whatever power created us) is watching all that you do in this world, right? Now, please compare your income, your wealth, your home(s) to this poor old lady's life and income, etc. Do you feel good about asking for that refund now? PERHAPS you have ensured that her family may not eat tonight, while you dine on steak etc. Grow up, stop stealing from poor people, and THANK GOD that you have much more than them, and try to share JUST A LITTLE BIT of what you have, with others less fortunate.

90 day reporting funds in bank
CanadaSam replied to Larryst's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I just went to Jomtien Immigration with all the required paperwork, the stall outside for 90 day reporting took ONLY my passport (with the TM30 stapled inside), and didn't need ANY of the documents I had prepared! Waste of photocopy fees!!! -
I would much rather pay 80 baht for a large cool beer while sitting on these comfortable looking chairs and tables, than pay 50 baht to sit on a smelly chair with no beer. If the authorities had any brains they would see how much more beautiful and inviting the beach looks with these good looking chairs and tables, rather than the other fools selling only smelly chairs and acting like mafia.

Pentagon tracking suspected Chinese spy balloon over the US
CanadaSam replied to Scott's topic in World News
Why don't they just shoot it down? It's what every other country does (or tries to do) whenever the US flies over their terrority! -
First of all, calm down. Second, go to your agent, if possible with a Thai speaking friend, and make peace with her. Tell her you meant nothing by the lawyer comment, you just felt that you should do your 90 day reports in Phuket, where you live. Tell her you will do whatever she says, and if she wants to do your 90 days wherever, it's fine with you. In fact, if your visa shows you studying in Nakhon Ratchisima, I believe your 90 day reporting be done there as well. If anybody questions your presence in Phuket, you are on a brief holiday. Finally, calm down, things will work out, have faith.

It is just utterly inconceivable that anybody, no matter how stupid, would transfer millions to somebody they never met. And apparently, this was in order to live with them forever, probably for sex more than anything else, but how can you plan this, without knowing your compatibility sexually? How would he know that perhaps her hole was the same size as a subway tunnel or not? Finally, I think perhaps there is some truth in the story that he only transferred 500,000 baht or so, and is just being vindictive, by his actions of complaining to all and sundry in public, showing his utter lack of self-respect and extreme stupidity to the world. Personally, I would like to see the bank transfers before believing this id**t.

Sell or rent?
CanadaSam replied to liana3legend's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
You didn't answer lkn's excellent post which would have given you (and us) a very clear picture of your situation now, and after 11 years. Sorry, just realized most questions were answered by you while I was typing. IMO Salerno's answer is the wisest, if you can get 20 million out of it now, it should be enough for you set up a permanent home elsewhere. -
I had a similar experience while touring around Thailand a while back. As you have correctly stated, some hotels do the TM30 for you, some don't. But I didn't worry about it, and when I finally settled down in a long term condo, I made sure the agent did the TM30. Apparently, she had no problems, because according to her, immigration gets "tired" of trying to track where every foreigner is, when they are moving hotels every couple or few days! As long as they have a few TM30's in your record, that is apparently enough for them to realize you're moving around, sightseeing Thailand. Strange.

Constantly watching disgusting people eat on TV!
CanadaSam posted a topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The wife seems to spend a LOT of her time watching these so-called "social influencers" EATING like pigs on TV. I normally would not mind, if not for the fact that they chew with their mouths WIDE open, and make the most disgusting (loud) sounds, which would make a pig proud! Looking for a two bedroom place, so I can live in peace without listening to disgusting eating sounds all day and night!!! Only in Thailand, yes?- 14 replies

In almost every tropical country I've been to, they use mostly cotton material for garments, because it is "breathable" and keeps you cool. But in Thailand, everywhere I go, I find (even in expensive brand name shops in malls) 100% polyester, or nylon, or some other synthetic material used in all garments, which is definately not breathable, and makes you unnecessarily sweat and stink. I'm at my wits end! I need to add to my wardrobe, and only want cotton shirts, pants, etc. Can ANYBODY tell me where I can get cotton attire? I'm in Pattaya, but willing to travel. Thank You!

Ukraine war: Russian athletes cannot be allowed at Olympics, Zelensky says
CanadaSam replied to Scott's topic in World News
Short-sighted. Firstly, they will most likely lose due to severe lack of moral support from the entire world. Secondly, good chance that many, or perhaps all the players including coaches may defect, as they are now finding it difficult to escape from Russia to avoid being drafted into the war, thus causing further embarrassment and shame on Putin. -
Tennessee fires officials after damning death penalty report
CanadaSam replied to Scott's topic in World News
Contaniments in lethal injections??? What, so you don't get sick after dying???? Only in the USA!!! -
I believe almost any Bangkok Bank will open an account for you, even on a tourist visa or visa exempt, IF you mention to them this is a prelude to a long term visa, AND you tell them you want to buy their accident insurance (which in my honest opinion is fully worth it, it paid for itself for me, last year) for between 2,900 and 5,900 baht a year, depending on your requirements.
