  1. If a law is being broken, bringing it to public attention is right - Peta seems not to have a party legal advisor and people are willing to let him get away with things. On the OTHER hand if the activist is wrong he can be sued for defamation.
  2. More and more tourist problems occurring in Phuket (several friends call it Fuket. Probably a mispronunciation but who knows). There are good Thais and not so nice. Not more than the UK or USA. I always get the feeling that poorly educated people feel westerners are all so rich and should pay more. (Many feel that UK pensions are 'free' money provided by the government so why are they so stingy?) Perhaps preparing the fare in advance 'to the baht' means jumping off, paying and walking away rapidly. I would not argue violently over a few baht because i don't know how many of his friends are around, but report the licence plate number to the police and Grab
  3. Fortune Town is on the MRT near Rama 9. At least 2 music shops. Imusic #3065 has strings.
  4. If he steps down and is not put behind bars for 20 years he can return after the next election with a landslide. Very happy he chooses to avoid violence. I doubt his intentions was to stop Chinese tourism, just perhaps not to give away the country to China. Let's not forget it was China that funded the local communist insurgency here to overthrow the government in the 60-70s.
  5. Interesting that every FBI director since the start has been a registered Republican.
  6. Personally, I don't see much happening as many Thais are disillusioned by the fiasco, They will stay home and feel they tried but the powers that be put an end to that dream. I am hoping that the armchair warriors promoting armed conflict will wheel their armchairs out to parliament.
  7. So the magic wasn't needed as the son was sitting in a daze behind the house - which they had not checked. It was bizarre, astounding, shocking, almost tragic, and many other adjectival words that the Thaiger often resorts to to make you read the article.
  8. No kid wants to be told anything by his parents and don't explain where they will be and with whom. I guess the parents just gave up on teaching him to be a good son.
  9. Misread the heading as Anyone else have an irritable wife this morning after erection result. My partner kept telling me she just felt exhausted after all the effort put into it and has lost hope.
  10. I was wondering why only royal defamation and not defamation as a whole. I understand that the highest institution is revered here, and many countries have a lese majeste law, but for a member of parliament to say no one should be jailed for defamation opens up a much larger debate. The penalty for defamation in general constitutes imprisonment ranging from one year (Section 326) to two years (Section 328). Journalists are particularly prone to custodial sentences if they "defame" anyone with reporting that damages someone's reputation. A Thai court sentenced a reporter to two years behind bars for criminal libel for a Twitter post about exploitative working conditions at a poultry farm. Remember - it is about making the victim look bad. If only MF had found it interesting that defamation is a criminal offence here, unlike other countries where it is a civil offence.
  11. Better for MF to push for another election but this time win all the voters they need for a landslide and don't depend on anyone
  12. There will be an inspection after it collapses though.
  13. Better for Move Forward to go into opposition and a minority government take the reigns. Then do their best to force a re-election and win more votes so they don't need to rely on the Senate.
  14. Well if he had paid the case would have ended 10 years ago, wouldn't it?
  15. I am back in the Twilight Zone.
  16. Tactically, with Pita out of the way, the junta will be looking to dissolve Move Forward Party next. Supporting a change to 112 has made this a death match. Recordings of their rallies in which they discussed changing 112 could be used to show lese majeste. The People(tm) may demonstrate. The army will shrug its (well-armed) shoulders..
  17. Peta has been very disappointing. Couldn't plan his way out of a paper bag. Best thing to hope for is a minority government then and early election where MF win an overwhelming number of votes.
  18. NordVPN. Provides ad blocking and malware scanning. With one NordVPN account, you can protect up to six devices. Fast. Extras include double-hop VPN and Onion over VPN (slows it down though). Works out of Panama so pretty neutral. Doesn't keep logs.
  19. Absolutely. In fact I wonder why his lawyers have not given him better legal advice from the beginning, such as return the shares or give them to the relative his father had instructed him to give them in the will.
