  1. Little bit depends on how long OP plans to stay in Thailand
  2. Yes, simple mistake as ommitted the word "NOT" have Thai bank account. I have stated that throughout thread. Best option for OP is to place 400k in USA account short term just for the application for eVisa. When in kk show non O stamp along with address (TM30) Worst case the bank will ask him to obtain certificate of residence from kk immigration.
  3. Obviously and posted by myself and others previously. His best option is to come up with 400k baht in his USA bank account. If he can't do that then that's a red flag.
  4. Yes yes but he does NOT have a Thai bank account in his name only. An agent in Khon Kaen (his location) for this service is problematic. In Pattaya no problem..
  5. To best understand non O ....it's a single entry visa that gives a 90 day stamp (permission of stay) Prior to expiry of that 90 days you obtain a 12 month extension. Ongoing to live in Thailand you keep extending (annually) your permission of stay. You are not extending the Non O visa (it's used) Note if you wish to exit Thailand you need to buy a reentry permit..
  6. "Immigration lawyer" ...you referring to an agent?
  7. OP, the younger would need to obtain non O prior to entering Thailand. Then can piggyback on older retirement extension
  8. When you can apply in the main depends on immigration office. Regards question about obtaining 60 day extension from visa exempt .... Here is a cut and paste from ubonjoe "You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your child it you have not gotten one since your last entry to the country with a new visa. You can apply for the extension with any type of entry"
  9. I typed with Pdc visa agent Khon Kaen and they only assist if you are using them to obtain the non O also. So this I imagine might be an issue for you. Can you show USA bank account balance for the eVisa application in USA
  10. The cost is ~4k if under 64yr ~5k if over 64yr That's Pattaya price. Other locations more expensive.
  11. You would NOT require an onward flight within 60 days if you obtain a Visa. In your case a non O
  12. You either obtain the non O in USA (eVisa) OR enter visa exempt and obtain the non O at local immigration office. Given the error with sending the funds to wife's account in Thailand you may be best off to use an agent to open a bank account in Thailand. Not difficult. On the other hand if you can replenish the required funds in your USA bank account then do that and obtain the Non O in the states
  13. For some reason I was under the impression that ONLINE renewal of passport for USA citizens is now possible. You mail the required forms and copies + payment but not the actual passport to embassy bangkok No so? Perhaps a USA person can update with recent experience
  14. As pointed out above, you do NOT need a return flight. Any onward flight within 60 days is fine. This onward flight MAY be required by airline to issue boarding pass at departure. Two options to obtain onward flight is buy cheapest flight out of Thailand OR use rent a ticket. One company is "onwardticket.com" Discussed in this thread https://aseannow.com/topic/1318022-do-you-really-need-an-onward-flight/ If you obtain the eVisa in USA you will not need an onward flight. Only required (maybe) if flying to Thailand visa exempt. What is the money situation? Can you show the funds in your USA bank account. I realize you (by error) transferred money to wife's account.
  15. Not about to read the 8 pages however have couple of questions if someone can advise. 1. Why just Kasikorn customers (at this point) 2. I trashed the email as soon as I opened it since to me (on face value) seemed a scam. 3. Can you deal with bank directly in person
  16. Don't see why he cannot apply for the 30 day extension while the application for pp renewal is being processed.
  17. The financial requirement to apply for eVisa in the states is posted by others earlier in the thread. The funds do not have to be in a Thai bank. For the 12 month extension you do not need to prove funds came from abroad.
  18. Read replies to Op.. That requirement will be highly unlikely. If it is then choose another option. Simple. Name ONE country that requires eVisa application fee to be paid in person at consulate/embassy
  19. Which immigration office. Some may do it early some/many will not. Couple of weeks early is the norm. An agent would be able to do it in the timeframe you indicate. Which immigration office?
  20. OP, here is thread from march re USA pp renewal. OP obtained new pp in one month..
  21. For heaven's sake. I overlooked stating that several months ago passport renewal across the board has greatly improved in recent times.. Oz pp renewal a year ago taking much longer than now. I then added ...... "Recent report of time for renew USA pp (can't find it) process times has come down from the thread attached." There was recent post USA passport process time has also improved. Just for once make a post that addresses OP helpfully.
  22. I posted in another thread re meeting a young UK guy who had just returned to Thailand and while in UK obtained a DTV (took few days) He didn't take the soft (nonsense) options. He took the working online. Granted easy for him as he actually does work entirely online for UK company. Perhaps something you could look into down the track.
  23. 100% would be removed even if not an error. Two reasons is one: Ridiculous requirement. And secondly it's not how payments for eVisa in other countries are made.
  24. Here is thread discussing process however does not address your specific question. https://aseannow.com/topic/1316179-american-passport-renewal-process/ I recently renewed Oz passport. Total 20 days online process. Recent report of time for renew USA pp (can't find it) process times has come down from the thread attached. I would sit tight and apply for the 30 days extension when pp has not arrived and you then realize need for more time
