  1. Can't speak for UK non O based on retirement. Fact is the non O is not based on retirement. The key is based on age 50+
  2. Don't do that. Flying visa exempt to Thailand the airline at departure may ask for onward flight within 60 days. On arrival it's not common that Thai immigration would ask for onward flight. You can purchase a throw away ticket or buy rent a ticket. Sites such as "onward ticket.com" BTW: Do you have a Thai bank account in your name only and which immigration office are you planning to obtain non O
  3. I did say "generally speaking" Which immigration office were you able to do extension based on parent while still married? Here is cut/paste from ubonjoe in similar threads.... "Other than the 400k baht being the bank for 2 months for marriage and only on the day you apply for being the parent there is little difference. In some cases marriage would be easier since some offices want a letter from you child's school and photos of them at the school and a few other things. Also some offices would not do the extension based upon being their parent if married."
  4. You misread the guy you were quoting.. He is pointing out that a non O cannot be obtained at immigration in Thailand from a visa exempt or tourist visa entry using income method without embassy letter.
  5. That will be a problem from a visa exempt or tourist visa entry. You require a certificate of residence or letter from embassy. Oz embassy does not provide that service. Also in Bangkok they require a 90 day report to have been done to obtain COR. That isn't possible. Entering with a non O obtained in Australia would make opening a bank account easier. Agents can assist with opening bank account.
  6. Indeed as pointed out earlier he will need to use funds in the bank for the non O and 12 month extension. He could at the same time start monthly transfers and possibly change to income method in future years having shown 12 months of transfers
  7. Generally speaking to apply for extension based on support of Thai child you would need to be divorced. Assuming you are over 50 thinking your best option is change to extension based on retirement. When your current extension is due for renewal you could make the change. You would require 800k in bank for 2 months prior to application. Wife would need to attend.
  8. No problem. You can even obtain a non O based on marriage or retirement from a visa exempt entry. This attached thread outlines the process https://aseannow.com/topic/1315379-tourist-visa-conversion-to-non-o-thai-family/
  9. Put it in perspective. Is there a limit on visa exempt entries via air? Answer: No. Are folk ever denied entry via air using visa exempt entries back to back ongoing? Answer: Yes. The choice of the word "unlimited" was poor. They simply removed the "2 per calendar year" rule.
  10. That information is incorrect. Not uncommon.
  11. 3 months out then enter again visa exempt should be fine. Don't overstay in future. You will need flight out within 60 days. Check out "onwardticket.com"
  12. OP, request to close thread. Thread closed
  13. Don't see point of your thread. You currently have the funds in bank to continue with extensions based on retirement using funds in bank method. Talk about jumping the gun re any tax issues that may or may not impact you. Then jump to PE questions. Relax.
  14. The "bank letter" does not do that. It confirms that you are the owner of the account and balance at time of issue. The "bank statement" shows funds in the account balances. Some offices will accept photocopies of bank book pages +bank book to show seasoning requirements have been met.
  15. OP, correct answers above. You can enter visa exempt and currently will be given 60 day stamp. Also can obtain 30 day extension at local immigration. Be aware that an onward flight may be required by airline at departure for boarding pass. You will not need to show accommodation with or without visa.
  16. In your OP you stated that you are using funds in bank method. 800k. No mention of income method.
  17. Certainly would not purchase a PE visa based on taxation concerns You already are doing extensions based on retirement so over 50.
  18. Indeed. Alternative to exit country would be to attend immigration office pay short overstay and apply for 30 day extension. Done more often than some would think. Alternative is to exit asap and pay few days overstay and return to Thailand visa exempt entry. Perhaps attractive due to current 60 day stamp. Depends on how long he wants to stay in Thailand..
  19. Good pick up.... I just took this sentence from OP.. "Now I've been in the country illegally for 31 days" On face value. In actual fact here legally 30 days and looking at short overstay.
  20. Wife should be able to register https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/loginFnServlet?login=true
  21. I didn't mean to imply you cannot return straight away. More that a few days out would be good idea. In thread I posted, ubonjoe even suggested that obtaining a SETV was good idea. Tourist visa currently hard to justify given it's 60 days and visa exempt also 60 days. You mentioned Vietnam...I'm just back from Saigon. Ripper place. Easy to spend time there.
  22. Best option is to fly out of Thailand and pay fine at airport. Fine will be 500/day overstay. I would not come back same day or next day. Why the urgency .. Here is very old thread where guy overstay was 70. Sound advice posted in thread. https://aseannow.com/topic/1040637-overstay-70-days-can-i-re-enter-if-i-leave-and-pay-the-20000-fine-and-return-in-a-couple-of-days/
  23. You don't have a Thai passport? As for border run here is thread re Chom Chong. https://aseannow.com/topic/1297703-border-run-at-chong-chomo-smach-surin/
  24. OP, read this guy's post carefully. It's good advice All depends on how long you plan to live ongoing in Thailand. If indeed extensions based on retirement ongoing then killing off the non O-A is good idea
