Name change > new passport > need new visa?
DrJack54 replied to Lorry's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have no time for mystery novels. Surely if the "friend" has been on annual extensions at Udon Thani he can ask forum directly -
Name change > new passport > need new visa?
DrJack54 replied to Lorry's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Have you stated reason for name change. Ask as he previously obtaining extensions in UT and knowing that it would complicate things why would someone change name. It doesn't help to hide travel history to Thailand and cover up things such as overstay. EDIT: just read the thread again. Couple of folk have asked "reason for name change" You did not address that. If someone asked for my advice re that, be it a friend or bar stool ....I would ask WHY. -
Converting a visa on arrival
DrJack54 replied to Kilick's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Good pickup from @Pattaya57. Note also that in that thread the OP @Kilick did not make ONE subsequent post in his own thread. Nor has replied in this thread. All the answers and advice is detailed in that previous thread. Then you repeat same question (apart from TM87) ???? -

Converting a visa on arrival
DrJack54 replied to Kilick's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, note you need a Thai bank account in your name only. Do you have one. Also need to show funds (800k) came from abroad. Other requirements outlined in these attached threads https://aseannow.com/topic/1282251-visa-exempt-to-non-o-retirement-dates/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1301615-converting-visa-on-arrival-to-non-o-retirement-based-in-nan-province/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1297092-non-o-visa-retirement-purpose/ -
Shady doings in Phrae
DrJack54 replied to foureyes10's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP joined yesterday. Zero posts. Was in forum 4 hours ago and no contribution to thread. OP referenced his embassy does not provide "income letter" Stated was at immigration to "renew his extension" Implies has done extensions previously. More details required. -
Shady doings in Phrae
DrJack54 replied to foureyes10's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Something not right with this story. OP, what are your previous experiences with Phrae immigration office. What does this mean in your OP.. ".....and evidence of my overseas assets..…." -
Visa on Arrival extension
DrJack54 replied to rick88's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, I did little research and one site suggests that you can do border run and obtain another VOA. I always thought this was possible. I was under impression that VOA had to be via air entry -
2 visas at the same time
DrJack54 replied to 7euner's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What do you find surprising on this. You did not have insurance. As a result you would be given a 30 day visa exempt entry. However you had a eVisa . What do you find unusual. Bit of silly thread. -
I'm not so sure about that. Actually I'm planning to switch from extensions based on retirement using funds in bank to income method. My next extension (Oct) I will use money in bank and also start monthly transfers 65k + Then next extension after that I can show 12 monthly transfers. Being Oz my embassy does provide "income letter". I suggest the OP consults with his immigration office.

Transferring Visa to a New passport
DrJack54 replied to steveb5's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You have to request transfer of stamps. Immigration does not just do it and has requirements. In the main just photocopies of pp pages. Seems you are obtaining a certificate of residence at immigration. You would need to do passport update -
Visa on Arrival extension
DrJack54 replied to rick88's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It is possible and you are correct it's not an extension it's a denied application and given 7 days to exit Thailand -
You can go anytime up to 30 days prior to expiry. 45 days at some io. Note your new 12 month extension will start from day of application and not from expiry of your current extension. Here is thread and also has links to other threads. Your wife will need to be with you for the change application but not for ongoing extensions.

Re-entry Permit. Suvarnabhumi Airport??
DrJack54 replied to Gee Bangkok's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm doing exactly that this November. No issue. Just travel with both passports. The non O visa is not transfered however they record it's details in new pp. The transfer of stamps eg reentry permit is done at immigration office where they were issues. Remember to also update things such a as bank account etc. There is no rule re timeframe to transfer stamps. You can travel with both passports. -
Transferring Visa to a New passport
DrJack54 replied to steveb5's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
True. We sometimes get criticized for being too pedantic. One example is the OP stating... "What is the process of transferring a Visa to a new passport"... Now what does he actually have... Could be a ME Non O visa. Could be he actually is on extensions from a Non O (single entry) Hence at start of thread I looked at OP,s other posts in various threads. Clearly he is on extensions. Then you can post advice. -
Transferring Visa to a New passport
DrJack54 replied to steveb5's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Could not be more incorrect and yet stated with such confidence -
Some folk would suggest that immigration offices would prefer you to use agents. Also immigration can in a blink ask for something new. Can make things difficult. Ten years of extensions based on retirement and out of the blue my most recent extension at CW they wanted my TM47. Never required one previously. Now I'm reading that at CW they want a TM30. I've never done one..
