Thai Visa (Retirement)
DrJack54 replied to wildoates's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You state "we" ... Are you referring to Thai wife. People generally don't have "hassles" You need to concentrate on options for ongoing living in Thailand. Multiple Entry Non O retirement (visa valid for a year) no longer available. You will need a single entry Non O and subsequent 12 month extension. As pointed out you can obtain another Non O when back in USA or enter visa exempt and obtain the Non O at local immigration office. The extension has financial requirements. This is all very different to ME Non O -
Retirement Visa Requirements / Criteria
DrJack54 replied to djeetyet's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The thing is the other banks can do the 12 month bank statement "on the spot". I obtain my 12 month statement day or two prior to application. Easy peasy. I also do the "bank letter" on same visit. All that leaves on day of application is small deposit into account to update and show activity. It's only BBL that requires days in advance to produce the statement. For folk starting the process of living in Thailand (imo) I would opt for bank such as Kasikorn who are also partner bank to WISE same as BBL and produce statement when requested. -
Retirement Visa Requirements / Criteria
DrJack54 replied to djeetyet's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes up to 7 days prior to application is fine. Cost 200b -
Seems a 12 month extension. No problem. As mentioned you can obtain reentry permit at your immigration office or airport. 1000b single reentry and 3800b multiple reentry. At the airport they have optional "service fee" 200b to do the form and provide photo. Edit: @kiwikeith mixed you up with the OP. Yes you simply obtained reentry permit at same time as extension. Many folk do that.

Retirement Visa Requirements / Criteria
DrJack54 replied to djeetyet's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes and normal. More immigration offices are requiring 12 month bank statement over bank book alone. 200b (simple process) Easier for him. However many folk do this. Use a "dedicated bank account" for immigration purposes. The actual rule is 800k for 2 months prior to application and for 3 months after application and not below 400k in other months. #4. Is normal. In future years doubt you would receive home visit for extension retirement. #5 which immigration office? Some like Jomtien you return next day. That's normal in Thailand and goes without saying. -
First up thanks for the report. Just be aware that you can mention who you use. Indeed the OP of this thread posted link to an agent in the OP Names are often stated for such things as border runs etc.

Re-Entry permit for Iraninan tourist
DrJack54 replied to md92h's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
He would not have valid visa after entry to Thailand on a single entry tourist visa. However he will be given a permission of stay stamp and the expiry of that can be protected by a reentry permit. -
Re-Entry permit for Iraninan tourist
DrJack54 replied to md92h's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When you enter Thailand on a tourist visa you will receive a 60 day permission of stay stamp. If you purchase a reentry permit you can travel to Bali and reenter Thailand with that reentry permit. Thinking that this is a "lost in translation" issue with the airline. I cannot see an issue. Aside: off topic but your travel itinerary I wouldn't wish on anyone. -
Visa Exempt 30 day extension
DrJack54 replied to Sam555's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are referring to a border bounce for new visa exempt entry. OP, has not indicated which immigration office he is dealing with. Obtaining a 30 day extension is best option if that covers time span for holiday plans. Certainly not the best immigration office. Here is thread with experiences. Including using "agent" https://aseannow.com/topic/1318842-jomtien-immigration-still-same-30-day-extensions-can-only-be-done-1-business-day-prior/ -
Re-Entry permit for Iraninan tourist
DrJack54 replied to md92h's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Is the travel agent aware of the plan of you obtaining a reentry permit? With a reentry permit you would not require a new tourist visa. Assume you have not been to Bali previously. -

Just to be clear. Are you referring to the return leg to Thailand? -

Re-entry Permit at Don Muang
DrJack54 replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Most of the time the "overstay guy" is giving the reentry permit desk a chop out. The permit desk is fist as you enter the "office" area. You state....." It can be a long wait." Not in my experience. Quite the opposite. -
Re-entry Permit at Don Muang
DrJack54 replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There is couple of basic photocopies of pp ages. 1. ID page of your passport (photo page) 2. most recent visa or extension stamp page from your passport 3.most recent entry to Thailand stamp from your passport. Having stated that most of the time they just push those photocopies back. Best option is to pay the 200b service fee imo. -
The money only needs to be shown to have come from abroad if applying for Non O based on retirement in Thailand at local immigration office. For 12 months extensions the money (money in bank method) does not need to be shown came from abroad. Of course if someone is using income method then the monthly transfers of 65k need to be from abroad.

Re-entry Permit at Don Muang
DrJack54 replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The guy checking pp to enter departure area is irrelevant. The only guy to concentrate on is the immigration officer that stamps you out. That's the immigration lines. At DMK the reentry permit desk is just past him/her. Note at BKK the reentry permit desk is prior. You will know if somehow you missed it and are in security check (bags etc) area and don't have you reentry permit. The reentry permit takes half page of passport and as a result some folk buy a multi if thinking they may take mose trips abroad. -

Extensions are not cancelled. The permission of stay simply becomes invalid without a reentry permit. -

Bit hard to miss. It's 5m past immigration lines. You can see the office from passport control. -

DrJack54 replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are correct. The reentry permit desk is just past immigration passport control. Single reentry 1000b Multiple reentry 3800b They have optional "service fee" of 200b where they provide the TM8 + photo + fill it in etc. Suggest you mention straight away to io at passport control that you are obtaining a reentry permit. Just saves him time to look for it Switched on immigration officers will even remind you of reentry permit if they notice you don't have one. It's bullet proof and a good option. -
