Yes. Off topic but making Oz folk aware that the online application is seamless and you also do NOT send current pp. Application was simple. It's posted to Bangkok and at the embassy they do basic inspection of complete application ie photos included etc. Also payment is processed at that time My whole gig from day posted to return mail to my Bangkok condo was 20 days. Not in a smug way but I think UK USA and Canada could do a Lot better.

I realized week or two prior to actual flight. It was all a bit comical. In those days you went to Oz embassy Bangkok. I applied for emergency pp and also normal pp with express process option. Few days later I returned to embassy to pic up. They handed me the "emergency one" I signed something and handed it back as the full 10yr pp also had arrived and they handed me the full pp. Lesson learned

I'm bit extreme on this topic. Possibly because I have seen too many threads of folk getting caught out leaving it a bit late. Suggest folk do it well early when it suits schedule of travel etc When you work out how much baht you lose by doing it early it's not big dosh. If I had a pp expiring in say mid 2026 I would be obtaining one mid 2025

The married to a Thai + house book etc has nothing to do with things. If the TDAC is introduced on May 1 you need to do the online application. This can be done up to 3 days prior (no earlier) Current thread running with link to application and advice. Check it out. https://aseannow.com/topic/1356064-thailand-digital-arrival-card-tdac-system-is-online-but-not-announced-as-starting-yet/

Immigration closure for Songkran
DrJack54 replied to lelapin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
A post with information from 2024 removed. Also post with comment on moderation relating to removal. -
Some countries do have old passport summited as part of the application if doing application here in Thailand. Canada and USA two examples. Some allow you to retain existing passport if you are doing the process using appointment option. The issue is that one of the two mentioned above has stopped having appointments option so pp is sent as part of application. Makes things more ridiculous in that for Oz passport renewal you can do whole process online and only need post application to Embassy Bangkok or CM. Existing Passport is not sent.

What triggers 90 day report?
DrJack54 replied to Chalky0w's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your post is off topic. At a guess you are asking why folk with a DTV cannot obtain 5 yr TDL. DTV is a "special tourist visa" Most transport offices will only issue 2 yr TDL. -
Docs currently required for METV
DrJack54 replied to DD25's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Agree with Brandon post above. Apply in pp country or country where you have Permanent Resident status. Have you considered DTV. Can apply in most countries. Might be a better fit. -
When a form requires my address etc, my answer depends on context. If it's a 90 day report (one example) then obviously I put my thai address. For the TDAC where it asks "country of residence" I will put my passport country. In my case AU. That's the only place I'm entitled to live. I've lived in Thailand many years on extensions retirement. Fact is I'm an expat on a "temporary permission of stay" Personally don't see the need for the current form to provide "Thailand" as an option.

Here is thread with post from @brewsterbudgen points out that he retained UK pp after dealing with VSF. Suggest you contact VSF for clarification. https://aseannow.com/topic/1346007-requirements-for-uk-passport-renewal/ Note: for others...do not leave passport renewal to last couple of months validity. Crazy.

Reporting back in on return to Thailand
DrJack54 replied to jaffas21's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Which immigration office? You are asking about TM30. Generally as long as you do the TM30 prior to attending immigration for a reason such as certificate of residence etc you would not be fined. -
What triggers 90 day report?

Email from who. To receive reminder you would be doing reporting online. That goes out the window if you exit and reenter Thailand. On top of that even if remaining in Thailand and doing reports online sometimes reminder is not sent. Bottom line do it yourself and enter into phone calendar.
